Astonishing Tales25 surpassed that 2k in 9.8 I think right? Well Deathlock is a cooler character anyway but damn....2k, 2.5k? Really :S? Jeepers!

I can see/buy into the price increase on Astonishing Tales 25.  Only 77 graded 9.8  (edit) 77 blue labels and 11 sig series 9.8

Nova #1 has 449 graded 9.8 (edit)  449 blue labels and 34 sig series 9.8

I bought an 8.5 just cause, definitely took some time with this book, not that it's all that but it indeed is like a lot of other 1st of the bronze etc. I even bought firestorm, but I'm a bit late on the astonishing tales 25

I was surprised to see this increase without a movie announcement.

    from January to April

    9.8 $1000 to $2000

    9.6 $300 to $600

    9.4 $180 to $380

The centering and wrap on the book that sold is far superior to the copy that is still available.  It simply presents better and has better eye appeal.

I definitely do understand the worry and concern.  I have had good success in the past with just sending in books, but it started becoming inconsistent, so I started prescreening them. The A few submissions ago got hammered and only 18 of the 25 hit the 9.8.

After they made it back to took a second look and realized that somewhere along the line the corners of those other books got hit. The bag and boards all had been crunched and did the same to the books.

Since then it has really been hit of miss. So with everything going on I have really cut back and only sending in really top candidates or ones I do not care as much what specific grade they get.

This happened on my last 25 book pre-screen as well.  13 graded 12 rejects with corner damage.  In the middle of the invoice, so the books that got damaged  were packaged in the middle of the shipment to coordinate with the invoice. Hard to believe it was during shipping.

Does anyone think there may be a market for keeping books like UF4 polybagged, like there are for some 90's books and some of the comics sold in multi-packs in stores? I have a really nice copy that I think could score a 9.8 but it's still sealed and eventually there will be very few sealed copies out there since everyone is getting theirs graded...

    hm

... am I just talking myself into buying another UF4? :pullhair:

If it has a legitimate shot at 9.8 get it graded now before something happens to it that a press won’t fix.
