  1. No worries, I tend not to believe most things being proclaimed anymore myself. But I believe he isn’t lying so to me the Action 1 cover is the top art that exists.
  2. I know someone who has seen the cover to Action 1. He was a long time art collector and dealer from California who went to the first SD cons before joining the Air Force (left as a colonel I believe) and eventually becoming a lawyer who practices to this day. He is not just some random guy but someone I know and trust. He told me where he saw it, showed some evidence (tangential to be fair) that it was there at the time. This is a man who knows art and what it looks like and he claims this was it. I have no reason to not believe him. So the cover to Action 1 is the greatest to me.
  3. People are coming AWFULLY CLOSE to praising “The Un-praise-able One”. Let’s all just try and remember the rules here, ok?! The Average is the Average is the Average…remember that always. Carry on. -ARTSOC
  4. I honestly think a good inker could work with that and make it uniform and cleaned up. How great would a finished vintage Byrne/Austin piece be? The work I saw from Austin from a few years ago (I believe) was top flight still.
  5. Does Austin still do commissions? At this point I’d like to see him finish and fix this (as much as possible anyway) since it’s already started.
  6. You can’t see Doom or Ben’s face. The face is the most interesting part of each characters design. Major strike for me, hiding the best part. Plus the angle of the floor they are standing on doesn’t make sense to me when compared to their feet.
  7. Full day in to digest, I’d slight upgrade to good results when compared to expectations. Not great but good. I think I was letting my expectations on two lots overshadow the overall performance. I do hope next auction I have I don’t have as much competition for attention from outside comic art events lol.
  8. Sorta mixed results. It looks like I sold 10 Vic Herman cartoons for 2.45 each…ouch…I thought it said 180 at first but keeps showing up 26 so must have been some other lot. Did well on sketches and a Mickey Mouse daily, overall middling. Think having connects auction and the dealer show on at same time probably split the audience a little for everyone.
  9. So my auctions end tonight, they look a little low but have some watchers. I think they will be mostly ok but I’ll know in 10 hours. I think there are a gonna be a few deals to be had in this auction as I’m not sure if all traditional bidders know to check Wednesday now, that’s the concern anyway.
  10. Count me in, too. I'm there for the prices... any price... I don't care if it's a My Little Pony twice-up for 500k. Well to be fair it was an alternate cover, it has the stats to prove it.
  11. Ok super sleuths, any good idea who is this drawn by?
  12. Is there going to be a claim show running simultaneously as the Heritage Wednesday night original art exclusive auctions going forward?
  13. Well it appears some deals were able to be had tonight, saw a few out right steals (even took a few home tonight). Have a few pieces in next weeks auction, hoping they do well but if it’s a buyers market again I’ll make sure to load up to offset.
  14. Marshall Rodgers iconic, Moebius, And John Buscema in space shots?
  15. NARRATOR: “In fact, there were deals to be had that day.”
  16. I never get why people ask you about NFS items you have in your gallery, then say “what did you want for it?”… I mean how goofy/lazy/entitled are some people!? They want to buy something you clearly love, are aggressive and getting your attention unsolicited….yet are still afraid of (god forbid) overpaying and want you to petition them with a price they can mull over. Such a goofy “hobby”.
  17. I still want one page with a good few panels of Morpheus speaking, not even caring who the artist is (maybe not zulli lol). I’ll land one, I’ll frame it, I’ll move on.
  18. Auctions are just easier then dealing with game players, goldbricks, and bludgers (which this “hobby” has a lot of). I send a ton of material to auction I don’t even show around anymore just to save the hassle. I find with most buyers if a deal isn’t done with cash hitting hand while we’re still talking you really can’t count it a deal anymore. The only way that “no hassle deals” work anymore is if you are so vastly underpricing the item the buyer feels they have doubled up (or more) the instant they acquire it. Plus half the time the guy has a story about how this piece is “so important” to them but they need a discount so they can buy it for “their personal collection” and so on…you know that piece is gonna end up in an auction in 6 months. By just sending everything from the boring con drawings to the market fresh marvel hero page art to auction, you avoid all the games and stunts.
  19. What were the pieces (now that the auction is over)?
