  1. Prices exploded Market Makers bought it all This ain't a hobby
  2. See I think that title sells 3500-4500 in auction. But all these shenanigans hurt the perception of the piece.
  3. Fair enough, I have heard different and that he kept a strong majority of his work especially earlier. But if you were able to pick up some pages from him in the late 70s and developed a relationship with him over the years as a collector, good for you that’s cool.
  4. Terry Austin pretty much held onto everything he got.

    Congrats

I’ve been saying this a while, despite the objections of people who are clearly wrong. This hasn’t been a “hobby” for many many years now. You used to be able to pick up a page for the cost of a lunch out, now it’s more in line with the cost of a mortgage payment.
  6. I’ve heard conflicting reports on this online. What is the book’s status in the school? Like has it been removed from the library?
  7. Stacks of art for 5-10 dollars a page on artists tables. No binders, just milk crates or other improvised holders. And nearly 1/4 of the dealers had one or two really good pieces for sale at a larger con (usually at the top row of their displays cause the art would be to large to display below). The coalescing of all art into a few mega market makers hadn’t happened yet so you ran into it in the wild frequently. No one thought of these as rare one of a kind treasures that would cost an average guys monthly (or yearly) salary since it was so common to find. It was a different era.

    Congrats

If you believe in Crypto (and ETH in particular), I can see someone trying to trade art for it after the last month’s price drop. To each their own.
  9. Nope. Iconic is the right word. It’s completely representative of the classic moon knight vibe and visual.
  10. 650-750. Bottom right panel is iconic. Lettered on page, known Artists, and MCU tied characters brings in normies looking for some of their first art buys.
  11. I keep thinking this while I watch the crypto market tank.
  12. I didn’t push hard enough on that sandman muth. I gave up and let others fight it out…I’m gonna regret that, it was a flawless image.
  13. See I thought the 18k bid on an interior AA page was a very strong price.
  14. To be fair, he did just leave an Andy Gibb/Queen double bill…
  15. I think some have been banned, some haven’t gone through the approval process. That Spiderman sits at 1.5 billion without China just shows the power of the character and how ready folks were for this film. It will be interesting to see what, if any, marvel films will ever been legally released under the CCP again.
  16. But Queen and Andy Gibb were, and I think we can agree that’s all that really matters.
  17. No, you just remember things incorrectly at times
  18. A comic art collector I know who started collecting art in the late 60s saw it in person around 1977.
