Not to hijack this thread but might also be in the interest of original poster. How would you ship a book (1 book) over 1000? And how about a $6K book. How do you get say a 7.0 copy of tales of suspense 39 graded ? How do you submit that ?

I agree with mostly with the sediment that its none. What is , is what is. But if pressed i say Giant Size Xmen 1. I always say its A big 2 for bronze .those 2.

The keys from the 60's he ssaid were in vg range so i assume he meant 2.0 to 4.0 but the later keys like hulk 181, gsxmen 1 , gl76, , asm 129, hos 92 he "said" were 8.0 or better and new stuff nm98, asm 300 , harley quinn etc all near mint. Grades were all over the place. Did not care enough to ask for pictures again based my 50% on what he said. Maybe he was right about 65%. Just figured there not all high grade. Again thanks. I got out of collecting for the most part but still come here every few days to keep up. I do still have some books , like 200 left from when i sold my collection. I even just joined cgc since it was half off. Maybe get my nova 1 gradesd now.

Thanks did not think i was way off or hoping i wasnt , think i know something about comics. Again all based on assuming everything is legit, all keys, older stuff in the low to mid grade, newer stuff in better shape, every first app or key sonce 1960. But again im not a buyer but i did sell 1000 books myself 8 years ago when i was unemployed. Got $700 about 30% (valued my books at 4000 ) but not many keys in it. Just was 60s and 70s so not worth less drek just not keys.

Yeah , dont know the dude. Deleted his number from my phone lol. Assume i may get another text. But i did ask my friend and he actually has all the books he said. Collection is 25 years old and he sold or got rid of the regular issue and kept the keys. But whatever. But in reference to my question , lets says the info is 100% accurate. Has all the first app since 1960 mid grade , worth 50k. Am i off saying 50%. I would think thats fair given that they are easy sells. Anyway thanks everyone.

Got a selling question. A guy i used to work with my last job a few years ago ( still keep in touch) , calls me tells me a friend of his wants to sell his comic books. Ask if he could text me to see what he might get for them. I have no clue but he knows I used to be a collector. I'm not as much anymore. Ok fine. So the guy text me. He's got about 400 books. Says All keys or hot books. I ask what and he runs off stuff like hulk 181, avengers 1 and 4, first app of iron man, hulk, xmen , thor Harley quinn, capt marvel, ghost rider , dardevil 1 , dead pool etc a Says all 400 are first app or keys no drek. But most he says low to mid grade and higher as u get current Ok great, tells me worth around 49k. I asked how he came up with that figure. He took The eBay sells price for low grade books. For purposes of this question let's assume that's 100% correct. Ask why hes selling and he's not working , unemployed but since he's getting unemployment does not really need the money. But want to be ready when unemployment runs out, best part Unemployment is paying him more than he made at work. But that's a totally different issue. For a different forum. Tells me he wants $30-35k. He figures 65 -70% of value is good Even though it was keys and hot books I text him first they can make more selling individually , but he doesn't want to do that so at home that's way too much. Looking at like 45 to 50% . maybe he can get 20-22k if he sells in *all to a dealer or big time buyer with money or something like that. Never hear anything back. Did not answer me . Then last night his friend , guy i work with calls and tells me I was lowballing on him lol. I wasn't even interested in buying. Don't have that kind of money but I think that was the whole intention. That maybe I would buy them. Anyway my question is was I way off. A collection of 400 books all keys , 1st app or hot books going back to the 60s , book value 49k. ?? Curious what folks who buy or sell collections think. Again i told him 45_50% of guide tops. But I'm not a buyer or seller what do I know. Why I'm asking here curious if I was way off.

I am here. Kind of got out of comic books collecting a bit about a year ago. Just came back to the forums a few weeks ago to see what i missed. While im out of collecting comic books per sayi still into Marvel big time. Movies etc. Buy my favorite back issues. Will still be here from time to time to read what's up. Hope all well Bird.last i left your were buying a huge collection and selling it off.

Glad I finally got there last year after wanting to for years. Even my Wife who is not into comics enjoyed the place. We spent 2 hours there. Was really cool. So sorry to see it go but kool of the donation.

Loved it, was incredible. Havent felt like that since revenge of the sith.

My only issue and since we do not know the whole story this may change BUT Venom is not Venom to me unless there is a Spiderman connection. Somehow Peter Parker needs to be involved or will never be a complete Venom movie to me. Will still see it ofcourse as a huge Venom fan , they could have messed with anything else . the look, tongue , his voice I would be ok i guess but again take out the spiderman element and its just not Venom . And before I forget the horrible way she said Symbiote . Ugg.

Saw it over weekend, thought it was really good. Alot of fun . Not the best Marvel movie like some of the reviewers etc are saying but probally right behind the top ones for me (Avengers , iron Man , Clvil War, and Winter Solider) , But again was alot of fun and a good movie and would recommend . All I can ask for when I see a movie.

The end scenes of this week were hilarious and made me laugh , great episode about the Mandela effect. But glad next week back to the mythology episodes and the current story.

If the comic shop felt like they had to sell the least they could have done was document the sales so that they can be recovered. Comic shop did the wrong thing by selling but if thats the route they decided to take to get there money back atleast get info on who you sold books to . You know eventually owner and cops will be coming. Something dont sound right.

Will say my reasons were just to get to meet some comic book collectors. My friends are all Sports or Music fans . We go to concerts and Yankee / Ranger games etc. Go to bars to watch Monday Night football or we get together to watch RedZone on sunday . we text through games( Text like crazy as ND lost Saturday) . Go to a club to see a band. But go see the new Thor movie , well either its with my son if he did not go see with his friends or by myself. I saw the Avengers a few years ago when it came out alone at a midnight show , None of my buddys like the comic book movies. But learned even comic book folks all have different taste so gave up that thought a few years ago.Still have not seen the new Thor movie , probably a midnight show next week by myself . And I am ok with that now.

Had the same type of experiance a few times., Most relevant was joining a comic book group on meetup. few of us met up to talk about comics and have a few drinks and was a disaster. Different ages , Everyone collected something different. Like different comic companys , DC , Marvel etc , different genres. etc. I was talking about collecting bronze and silver age , no one cared , another wanted to talk about who was stronger superman or hulk , no one cared , another wanted to talk about a storyline like watchmen (No one else cared) . Another wanted to discuss the Marvel Cosmic universe and no one cared. i think met one more time without me and broke up afterwords. I have run into people over the years who find out I collect and its either , Yeah I got alot of old classic books like Death of Superman and Spiderman clone books or they say they have a collection and its going to put there kids through college and then they mention Death of superman, Brigade # 1 etc. I have no comic book friends , all my friends are connected to me by sports and music.

I was addicted to collecting every 1st app or #1 from 1969 to 85. Back then it was considered a waste to collect bronze other then keys so think I was tbhe only one. . I literally had more then 30 Nova #1 . My favorite character after spidey. I still remember purchasing 10 Nova #1 and 10 Ragman #1 from the back of that comic book newspaper back then,. 20 comics for $10. I still have 4-5 Nova #1's back at my parents house. All ragmans are gone. Have to add that I moved to Nj from Staten Island around that time and left working in Manhattan and continued buying all the bronze but started grabbing them all at MC Comics in old Bridge NJ. Had a ton of back issues and alot of the treasureys . Would go by once a month to grab all the cheap stuff . and Bronze #1s were still cheap back then. Was sad when they closed.

I worked in Midtown until 2005 so had to be between 1999 and 2005. . Probably wasn't literally ever week but atleast twice a month. I would go and spend my whole lunch there. Going through as much of the back issues as I can. And yes I probally grabbed them all . If there was 8 Nova"1's I would grab all 8, 5 ROM#1 , I would buy all 5 as long as they were a $1 or so. . Its the AF 15 of the bronze age. Eventually even coverless copies will go for high amounts. I still remember not buying a Very Fine copy of AF15 in the 80's for cheap. cant remember but think it was like $2K . Same thing will happen or is happening to IH181. I do suggest grabbing IH180 his cameo (or real 1st app to some) as 181 goes out of reach 180 will start to be sought after. Eventually in maybe 10 years we will say the same thing about the top copper books . Venom, Deadpool etc.

I still remember mid 2000's buying all these bronze age #1's and first app for $1 or $2 . Think i had 8 copies of that Marvel priemere #28 all VF or Mint . i literally would go to Midtown comics ( both locations) once a week during my lunch at work at a bank and buy all the Bronze age #1 and 1st App for $1 or $2 . Spend $25 a week , Had hundreds of them . Every single #1 or first app from 1970 to 85 (multiple copies) (Think I had 15 copies of Nova # 1 and 10 copies of Rag Man #1 at one point lol) , I wanted to hold them for 20 years etc but Wound of selling all of them over the years when I needed money or was unemployed but always knew that eventually they would be triple figure books. Just could not hold on to them . Why I say grab all the cooper 1st App books you can. in 20 years they might be triple figure books. Yeah most say no way but I heard all the same stuff about bronze back when I was buying it.. Too many copies , out there characters like Starlord and Rocket Raccoon who no one will care about etc.

Agree with most of the list but probably my biggest one that is not a key would be Night Nurse 1. cool book yeah I guess but a key. Only my opinion.
