  1. The impenetrable plot armor of the Mary Sue main character in this film turned this potential "7" of a movie into a 4. To those who say this is "the best Predator movie eva!".. Please....put down the pipe. -J.
  2. Sweet! Did you ever send it in to get graded? -J.
  3. It really is interesting that you prefer to cling to what is so obviously nothing more than studio spin, rather than simply accepting that the duck is a duck. Oh well, no feathers off my back. -J.
  4. I'm now reading that the movie was in fact test screened and was judged to be so awful that it was "irredeemable" and thus, the decision made to not continue throwing good money after "irredeemably" bad money. @Bosco685 Everybody involved with this unmitigated disaster has already been paid, the only.one losing any money here is the big bad studio, so never fear. -J.
  5. I'm going to say Black Panther-less 2 finishes $750-$850MM, and the weak finish will finally force Feige to just recast the damn role if they are going to bother continuing the series. -J.
  6. Sweet ! That Mexican 667 cover is not exactly a cheap book either. -J.
  7. It needs to make more than that to break even theatrically. If it makes 300MM domestic (150MM after split and 400MM international (160MM after split) that's only 310MM back at a 700MM box office. This will not make anything theatrically for Disney. -J.
  8. The domestic usually averages out to about 50% over the life of a film with any kind of legs. International is pretty much a flat 40%. China is 25%, if you can even get a release there. There's no chance "only" $100MM was spent to market Thor 4 worldwide. -J.
  9. I'm trying to discern the original source for the budget. The other articles appear to paraphrase Variety. -J.
  10. I didn't say anything about Batman. Batman also cost too much and didn't make enough money. Just like Thor. That's what those two have in common. -J.
  11. Looks like Variety is the original source for the other articles. Thanks. -J.
  12. Indeed. I predict this movie makes about $500 million LESS than the first one due to the foolishly over emotional and short sighted decision to not simply wait a little while and recast the role. I've read they are in fact recasting for the third one (assuming the franchise survives), but still.... Actors are not the characters they portray and do not own the roles. Such a stupid move by Disney and Feige and one I suspect they will regret (one among many bad decisions in phase 4). -J.
  13. I stopped reading your post when you proclaimed that "a single copy" sold for $4500. -J.
  14. Irrespective of the non-existent difference in pricing in this book between "direct" and "newsstand",(because there isn't any) I guess this book still isn't "crashing" the way you hoped it would after all (despite many other bronze age books falling all around it). -J.

  16. I'm not saying the sale was fake. I'm saying that a "private sale", by its very nature, is not as a reliable of a data point as a public auction. That price tag is ultimately untested and unproven, for all we know, the buyer simply overpaid and there would have been absolutely no competition anywhere near that level in an auction environment and the buyer could have gotten it for much less. -J.
  17. They're just taking the word of the dealer. The presumption (hope) is that the dealers are reporting real sales as GPA doesn't accept data from just any private dealer, they are vetted and approved by them, although I'm not sure what that criteria is or hpw vigorous the vetting is. Frankly though, it should be more than just a guy saying "yeah it happened, trust me" when it comes to an alleged sale as large as that Superman 1 sale. -J.
  18. Ugh. Why are they even bothering with this ? At least they're recasting black Panther for the third one- assuming the franchise even survives this pointless monstrosity. -J.
  19. I do think there needs to be an asterisk next to it. "Private sales" are simply not subject to the same hobby-wide scrutiny as public sales. So indeed, AF 15 still holds the record for the most ever paid for a comic book publicly. -J.
