  1. I seriously hope they reveal something like this at some point, or, at the very least , some kind of mention that part of the project's mission is they are still looking for Sam (as opposed to a straight reboot/rehash of the original premise). -J.
  2. My take was that Sam died at his final leap , as there was no one in the "waiting room" back in his time and Al had to scour his entire lifetime just to find him (he leaped to the date of his birth). He died, but his "soul" was able to continue leaping, except now he was going to be able.to control his destinations , but they were going to get much more difficult. Which is why I was really hoping they would be able.to get Scott to play the Al role. That would have been amazing. But alas, was not meant to be (for now) Even though it was not originally intended as such , that episode was a beautiful series finale. -J.
  3. I'm a little iffy on the two leads and disappointed there's not even a whiff of Sam Beckett or Al references (although I'm sure those will be forthcoming), but as a big fan (and writer) of the original I'm still excited to check it out. Network television needs more good true scifi. -J.
  4. John laroquete (sp?) won so many Emmys for that role that he eventually asked the network to stop submitting his name for consideration for future awards so someone else could win. -J.
  5. The big dumb budget is what wrecks the numbers for this thing, not what it made. Still, this movie has now made more than The Batman , sans China. Any hot takes on that? The Batman was by no means a "good" movie either but it was miles better than Thor 4, which is practically unwatchable. -J.
  6. It has been the modern king for years, but there's also an Italian version of the cover that was used to commemorate spider-man's 25th anniversary of publication in Italy. There is a litho of the cover as well. -J.
  7. I expect this movie to encounter many "delays" and then just never happen. -J.
  8. Well. "If" that same number translated into butts in seats in theaters, that "would have" been about 58MM for an opening weekend. Do people seriously think this movie would have opened to nearly 60MM if it was released in theaters? Of course they don't. So what is a "hit" for streamers, when people can watch it as part of a free to $4.99 monthly subscription along with everything else the streamer has ? I honestly don't know and no one has ever really tried to explain that. -J.
  9. Any truth to the news that this impending tire fire is STILL doing re-shoots this late in the game? -J.
  10. They don't need to reboot they just need to finally accept that they need to RECAST the roles of their legacy characters that people actually WANT to see and care about as their actors age out, lose interest in the roles and/or die. Pretending like the actors own these roles is the epitome of stupid. Recasting is the inevitable decision that must and will be made or it will continue to be downhill from here. There's only so much C and D list shlock people will be able to take. -J.
  11. In the trunk of a car? Lol -J.
  12. Now down to a 5.3. Keep up with the times , man. -J.
  13. Can somebody please finally give this guy the memo that this "stat" isn't a thing ? -J.
  14. Down to 5.5 now less than 24 hours later. This thing is getting absolutely roasted by viewers, everywhere but , evidently, in this thread. -J.
  15. Disagree. AvP had a top notch pedigree behind the camera , directed by Paul WS Anderson and co-written by the original writer(s) of Alien, and of course having Lance Henrikson in it makes it a watch. And the lead female was strong, capable, and was able to survive in a realistic, believable way without being a ridiculous Mary Sue. Back to Predator 2, having now re-watched all these movies, it would seem that there is a call back /reference in every subsequent movie to that first sequel, with the most direct ones being in The Predator (Jake Busey playing the son of the chatacter Gary Busey played in #2, the in Prey, the direct reference to the incidents in 1997, in Predators, and the Xenomorph skull which AvP and AvPR played into. ) Good stuff. All the movies weren't great but the attempt at continuity is something to appreciate. -J.
  16. I thought so. That's why I put AvP ahead of Prey. When that movie was first announced and it came out it was a very big deal. Was it perfect ? No. But it was a fan's wet dream. -J.
  17. Ghost saw Harrington pursuing all the bad guys by himself and single handedly. That casued him to ID harington as the apex Predator of that "jungle". By the way, was it ever confirmed that that was a xenomorph skull on the ship at the end of that movie? Such a great sequel. -J.
  18. Lol what "growth"? Tying a vine to her magical ax handle, turning it into an even more magical and physically impossible yo-yo ax, which she is immediately the best ever at? That ""growth"? Or maybe I missed the montage of her hand to hand combat training that allowed her to IMMEDIATELY best an experienced young male hunter in her tribe, and then a group of armed, burly French trappers on an ankle that "should" have been maimed for life after being snapped in a bear trap. I already addressed the absurdity of all of this. She is a classical Mary Sue. And that ruined the movie. There is no suspense or drama involved with stories revolving around Mary Sue's. -J.
  19. I don't think you're getting my point either so I'll make it once more - Poking the Predator with a pointy stick should not have "severely injured" it. Neither should have a ball from a musket ftom 350 years ago. That is a betrayal to prior canon and what these things have withstood in prior movies from far stronger opponents with far more advanced weaponry. At the end of the day, there was NOTHING Mary Sue, or even the French trappers were equipped with that would have been capable of "severely injuring" Feral from what we know of this species. Period. Furthermore, some of you keep saying "oh well 'this ' Predator was just stupid and inexperienced", so that's why Mary Sue was able to single handedly take it down with a magic ax without getting so much of a scratch from it. To that I call "BS". First - y'all are continuing to conveniently ignore that she ALSO single handedly took down an entire encampment of armed burly French trappers , on an ankle that was supposedly previously injured on a bear trap, but apparently magically healed. Second, saying this Predator was "stupid and inexperienced" is nothing but a weak excuse for the very sort of poor writing that is associated with Mary Sue characters- dumbing down everybody and everything else so there is never any doubt, suspense , or question that the Mary Sue will prevail. Look, i get it, the movie would have only been 5 minutes long if Feral wasn't "inexperienced and stupid", at least with the sort of writing this movie had, but a better writer would have found a way for these people to defeat this creature in a "believable" manner while remaining true to prior canon, and what we know of Predators as a speicies and that would have made it a MUCH better movie. That is what brought this potential "7" down to a "4" and put it firmly in the bottom half of Predator movies. And her only "fault" in the beginning of the movie is she just hasn't had a chance to show all the mean boys how awesome and perfect she is at everything yet but don't you worry, the plucky Disney princess- I mean Comanche warrior- will sure show them, even if it means putting her entire tribe in mortal danger, getting every young able bodied hunter in her tribe killed, ensuring her tribe's eventual starvation, and oh look!, turns out she was the one that "really" killed the lion in the tree after all. Barf. This movie was lame. But it was "good" compared to The Predator, which is the one that came out before it. That's the only reason why some people are acting like it's Citizen Kane. I'm glad some of you evidently enjoyed this movie, but I would not be able to recommend it, not even to Predator movie completists because it hardly qualifies as being a Predator movie, despite the kinda cool call back/connection to Predator 2 (which is a FAR superior movie to this in every single way). -J.
  20. You should watch Predator 2 again. Danny Glover fought ghost for literally the last half hour of the film, almost single handedly, and was the only one who did any damage to it. Unlike Mary Sue who jumped on the thing's back for a few seconds , and apparently overwhelmed it with a magic ax. Bear in mind that Danny Glover blasted ghost point blank with a shotgun about 10 times and that barely fazed it. So yes- these things are supposed to have extremely thick hydes, spears poking at it would be like someone pricking us with a toothpick- at least for everyone but Mary Sue. We won't even get into what Dutch did in Predator 1, and even he STILL didn't actually kill it, it only died by blowing itself up. Yeah, Mary Sue definitely had quite the easy time of things. I guess we'll also just ignore the fact that the ONLY reason ALL of the young able bodied men in her tribe were annihilated was because they were out looking for her while she was out looking for Feral WHO DIDNT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE TRIBE UNTIL SHE WENT OUT LOOKING FOR IT. There were nothing but old men and women standing around laughing and cheering and whooping it up , apparently everyone havng forgotten that all of their sons are dead and they will soon starve to death. Yeah. The more I talk about this movie the more it sucks. -J.
  21. Predator Rankings: Predator Predator 2 Predators Alien v. Predator Prey The Predator Alien v. Predator: Requiem -J.
  22. Yes a few of the male tribesmen poked him with their sticks too beforehand but that doesn't really change the implausibility of it all (within the internal "logic" of the movie, of course). Let's just pretend a simple Hunter didn't take out two highly trained special ops teams in the first one, and a massive gang of armed thugs in the second one, or (Feral taking out) every young hunting male in Mary Sue's tribe in this one, all it took was a little girl power and a magically retractable yo-yo ax to save the day, without taking a single hit. Hope she learns how to catch more than rabbits for food since evidently everyone left in her tribe will be relying on her to eat for the next 15 years or so. -J.
  23. Right. Because watching a 110 pound teenage girl single handedly take down the galaxy's most skilled and powerful hunter,(not to mention a half dozen armed burly French trappers) without taking so much as a scratch, with nothing more than sticks and stones and a magically retractable ax is such riveting cinema. -J.
