  1. Well in fairness Thor 3 made 850M not a billion. Black Panther had the buzz of being the first black (mainstream) superhero movie in the MCU. Captain Marvel was sold as the final must see build up movie to endgame (even if. It wasn't anything close to that.) It doesn't matter how many movies Dr. Strange was in, he was never an "A-lister" in the MCU until no way home and I have no doubt that it would have hit 1B had it gotten the same China release that Batman got and squandered. We can sit here all day and come up with reasons and excuses for why a movie did or did not make the box office we expect it to. If people want to see a movie they will go see it. If they don't they won't. No other explanation is needed. Indeed, it really is quite remarkable that while Strange sits just shy of 1B with no China, "the best Batman eva!" is moping around with only 770M. While that's not in flop territory , it really is kind of bad and a big miss on expectations and what "could" have been. Fact is , people just weren't that impressed with the Batman. Fact is multiverse of madness did just fine. -J.
  2. None of that is a valid reason to prevent comparison. -J.
  3. "I'm going to compare two super hero movies that were released within 4 months of each other" FTFY -J.
  4. If this was a mild miss I'm wondering what you think Batman was ? -J.
  5. Older label goodness. May tempt a C-P-R specialist or two... -J.
  6. By even your own oddly rigid criteria I would say the Batman 608RRP would have to qualify. It has everything from a first appearance, to an iconic Jim Lee cover (that was even used as a movie poster), to scarcity. It also was a harbinger for all the variants that we see today. -J.
  7. Miguel O'Hara and Hobart Brown don't count? -J
  8. I'm going to post these here and then I am done with this because it is pointless and stupid- some more official data from the actual publisher. Notice the book descriptions and release dates. Oops. How pesky and inconvenient for you. How "contrarian" of me. Have fun trying to talk around, rationalize, ignore, dismiss, or whatever else you need to do with these to cling to your unprovable (and clearly wrong) fan theories. https://www.dcuniverseinfinite.com/comics/book/action-comics-1938-23/73e95d70-4d11-4f43-9bc6-f57aeab6f10c/c https://www.dcuniverseinfinite.com/comics/book/superman-1939-1986-4/49280098-41cf-479b-9450-4511fef40854/c -J.
  9. Who's the "contrarian"? https://www.dccomics.com/characters/lex-luthor (But you'll probably just ignore that too) -J.
  10. I'm not pushing "my" view at all lol. I'm simply quoting the actual publisher- something that really seems to bother Joshua for some weird reason. Maybe ask him why he has been running around the internet pushing his narrative, to absolutely no avail, about a character he professes not to care about , for literally years. Everything other than what the publisher states is unprovable theory and speculation, from fanboys and keyboard warriors, and thus irrelevant. In fact, I think it is hysterically ridiculous that some dudes on here are trying to look at every meaningless crumb they can find to support their unprovable theory, and make a concerted effort to completely ignore, talk around, or disniss WHAT THE ACTUAL PUBLISHER says. This going in circles about it over and over here is also pointless. Any person who seriously believes the publisher has their own canon wrong would not be posting about it here and everywhere else they can online ad nauseum, they would be making their case to DC directly. Failure to do that is a tacit admission either that you know you don't really have the goods, or that you're just wrong. -J.
  11. Wrong. What DC states, and the only thing DC states , is that the first appearance of Luthor is Action 23. Here's the link for you again one last time. https://www.dccomics.com/characters/lex-luthor What you think, what I think, what anyone else otherwise thinks, is utterly and entirely irrelevant. Good talk sport. -J.
  12. Yeah I haven't seen one of those listed for sale in about 8 months. -J.
  13. Do you have a link to that listing? I don't see it. I don't think you'll see another 9.8 ruby red for less than 8k. Maybe even $10k -J.
  14. Nobody cares about the unprovable speculative theories of keyboard warriors on the CGC boards. Sounds like you just have a hard time in general knowing the right books to buy my dude. https://www.dccomics.com/characters/lex-luthor https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/17198/incredible_hulk_1962_181 I repeat - take your righteous crusade directly to the publishers if you believe in them so much, and stop spinning you wheels here, because you are wasting your time. -J.
  15. Why are you wasting your time posting your irrelevant conjecture on CGC boards? Get on it man, gather all this up and present it to DC directly, you clearly know better than they do. https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2018/02/15/road-to-1000-who-is-luthor -J.
  16. I'll make it really easy for you. Here's what the actual publisher says. https://www.dccomics.com/characters/lex-luthor The rest is nothing but irrelevant white noise from people who ain't got the right book. -J.
  17. After about 20 years of submissions there are still only 40 copes on the census, so not hardly. https://recalledcomics.com/DangerGirl2RubyRed.php @World Devourer After doing some more research I actually may have to reconsider my position on including the danger girl 2 ruby red on the list that I maintain. Evidently, it is in fact unique art relative to cover A, with the different colored lettering on the title being sub-variants. You might be right after all. -J.
  18. Nope ! Top 5 (or 6, actually). At least based on the criteria I have used for the last 6 years. Sketched covers don't make my list and nether do covers like danger girl 2 where there is nothing different (iie "variant") about the art. Meaning no glitter, hologram, etc 1990s type gimmicks. -J.
  19. Sweet ! This is definitely still a Top 5 Most Valuable Variant. -J.
  20. So no one's blaming "covid" (yet) for this latest Disney flop? Good. So we can all finally agree that "pandemic era" in movies is a dead and buried term (ie, excuse) for a movie nobody cares about doing badly. -J.
  21. Heritage putting a 5.5, 6.5, 7.0, and 7.5 all in the same auction might be one of the stupidest things an auction company could have done. They should have put the 5.5 and 7.0 in one auction and the 6.5 and 7.5 in a later one. If I was the consignor of any of those books I would be severely P.O.'d. -J.
  22. I'd keep this one clean and get something less expensive/rare signed. -J.
  23. No more than usual. A couple a year here and there. -J.
  24. Rising tide raises all boats. Though the 9.8 premium seems to be getting more extreme on the higher end books. -J.
