  1. I would go, in no particular order: Original Sin #2 Original Sin #7 Immortal Iron Fist #1, Second Print Dark Knight Master Race #1 Batman/Superman #7 -J. Good list, a little surprised by the Black Panther cover. A personal favorite character? The Batman/Superman 7 is a great book, but being a foreign cover makes it a pain to get a hold of. Personally I would swap Dark Knight Master Race out for his Batman and Superman 50 connecting covers, but that is just me. Definitely a Black Panther fan, and until very recently, he has not been featured on many variant covers. I do like Batman/Superman 50 but those are technically two covers. Plus, Old Man Batman Dell'otto style on DK III is pretty bad azz. -J.

  3. +1 Wouldn't be surprised if it also pushed up Hulk 1. Especially with Planet Hulk, aka Thor 3 coming out soon.... -J.

  5. Now at 7k, an all time high on GPA for that grade. DC books are really doing well in this auction. Could be that people are realizing how affordable the 22 is compared to the 4. And how tough it also is above a 5.0.... -J. That's a very nice 6.0...but again SC22 has been undervalued. SC 22 6.0 closed at $8k. -J.

  7. 6.0 Showcase 22 isn't doing too bad either. At over $6k with an hour left .... -J.
  8. Spine...tick...tick...tick. Listed as a F+ It was pretty beat up... Ended up selling for $225.... -J. That is a lot for a mid-grade modern variant that isn't "that" rare... Hard to say. Were there likely a ton of stores ordering 50+ copies of the regular cover to get one of these back in 2012? Probably not. Have some sellers sold off some copies when the price spiked? Definitely. That's par for the course. From what I'm seeing though, when these dry up, they'll dry up. Even now there's only a couple left on eBay. And with that black front cover a 9.8 on any copy will be tough. -J. I have had 3 copies of Winter Soldier 1 none above fn+. I sold 2 copies earlier this month. This will be a tough book in 9.8 A raw "9.2" Winter Soldier #1 for $310. Not bad.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/WINTER-SOLDIER-1-1-50-DellOtto-Rare-HTF-variant-2012-1st-print-/172143802025?hash=item281491f6a9%3Ag%3A3i0AAOSwBnVW8iql&nma=true&si=4x1dlkWqkw018nq9YkZPEroyRHA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -J.
  9. Nice pair ! The lighting effects on that Avengers really are sick. -J.

What concerns me is that there is only so much of a market and the long term viability of modern variants is unproven. While I want to jump in on more of his books, at some point in my life I will need to sell my collection (or at least part of it) and I worry about the value here. At $50-$100 bucks for a high-grade great cover I am all in, +$200 for a mid-grade copy and I lose confidence quickly. After-all, the perceived rarity is driving silly prices for these with huge gains in short periods of time. That just screams bubble to me... It is a great book, but it is likely seeing more action due to Captain America Civil War and I don't think Winter Soldier is a character to bet on long-term. That said I will still collect my personal favorite high grade copies, but I won't extend beyond that like I would if the prices were more consistent. I didn't consider that the movie would really be driving it. But maybe ? If Cap does die and Bucky takes over, that could make things interesting. It is definitely my personal favourite Winter Soldier cover regardless. The fact that it's also issue #1 of his first solo/ongoing title may give it additional significance to some collectors as well. -J.
  11. But but but.....it's a "9.8".... -J.
  12. Yeah hard to say if they'll stay there or not...1:100 will prob keep them scarce as I'm not sure how many stores will order that many. Now if Alex would just do a local show... It depends. It's one of many cover swipes/homages to Cap 1. Though it is a very well done one. How well do those usually hold up? Issue #6 of this title had orders of barely ~27,000, so if #7 is anywhere near that, then yes this variant would definitely have a tiny print run. I think I just talked myself into wanting one. -J.

  14. It is a GPA high. Meanwhile the Voldemort 5.5 came in ~18% below other recently sold comparably numerically graded CGC copies. -J.
  15. I would say so. Hulk 1 looks to be heating up again.... -J.

  18. Many, if not most kids were out on spring break last week, no? And that is the reason , along with wanting to avoid Cap 3, why they moved it to this past weekend, no? To now use that as an excuse to explain the massive day over day drops seems a little sketchy to me. Add in the fact that the movie had a simultaneously worldwide launch and it's easy to see how and why the box office on this will be heavily front loaded. If it drops less than 70% week over week I would be surprised. -J. Spring break begins this Friday around here..... GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) I live in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country and their spring break was last week here.... -J.
  19. Very nice! Love the colours on that one . -J.
  20. Very nice! I know you put in a little leg work for that copy too. Digging the new sig line by the way. -J.
  21. Someone's about to get a good deal on a winter soldier #1... http://www.ebay.com/itm/301908818461?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT -J.
  22. About $7000. Yea, so 5% for an older reprint seems pretty good to me. The ASM 129 9.8 is now over $10k in the CC auction. $300 for a vintage reprint in 9.8 condition is a bargain. -J.
