  1. Depends what's wrong with it. If simply incomplete with s decent looking cover? $12-15k? No way Jose. Two restored trimmed 0.5's have gone for $16k+ recently. There's only one blue label 0.5 on the census and that would be a $20k+ book easy. Easy. -J.
  2. 5 copies of just cap 1 have already traded hands in 2 months, and those are just the ones I know about. But prices (asking and realized) have escalated too quickly on all keys and this cycle has happened in the past and it closing in on happening again.... just saying it makes me nervous. Maybe it's sustainable for years to come but it's not good for the hobby imo Blue labels ? Private sales ? -J. 3 blue, 2 restored. All private. Public sales are just a fraction of the market activity on ga keys Do you generally find that private sales are a better indicator of FMV than public ones? Or vice versa ? -J.

  4. Nah. The overwhelming demand is in the lower grades. Only a few big fish can swim in the nosebleed grade ponds. I don't think a cap 1 selling for $25k-$30k a point in low-mid grade once or twice a year is going to sink the hobby. -J.
  5. Agreed that goes for any hobby. Nah. Just making up a little ground on the Batman/Superman 1's of the world. -J.
  6. Up to $41k. I'd wager the seller's magic number is $45k. -J. I think the 2.0 is worth every bit of the $60K the seller is asking. Looks like a bargain to me. I'm inclined to agree. A buyer will step up. The seller knows what he has. But I'm biased. So are you. -J.

  8. You just ensured I'll have to get my copy off from ebay. -J. Pre-sales are up at $40 but at least it's a 1:25 and not a 1:50 so I'll have a chance of finding one next week when I make my rounds. I can't see the bigger LCS's ordering less than 25 copies of a new #1. I don't wanna start the usual "where's your proof of the print run??" BS concerning the Dell'Otto Avengers Assemble #10 1:50, but the Diamond numbers for it were just over 32,000. This seller says there's less than 600 of the variant. This one could be the next "white whale." Thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/AVENGERS-ASSEMBLE-10-Variant-1-50-Gabrielle-DellOtto-Marvel-NEAR-MINT-RARE-/222045322902?hash=item33b2eebe96:g:SD0AAOSwh-1W3Kox Avengers Assemble #10 is a 3+ year old book with exactly two copies on the census and one GPA sale. It is one of his rarest Marvel variants, and has disappeared from ebay. I would highly doubt that it had more than a two case print run (~450 copies). If someone wanted to track down all of his hardest to find variants with one of his best covers that would be on their short list. It's rarer than all of the Original Sins, and X -23 #1 and would probably give the ASM 667 and Winter Soldier #1 a run for their money. -J. Are we talking about this book: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.html?_ftrt=901&LH_SpecificSeller=1&_saslop=2&_sop=10&_sadis=15&_fss=1&_dmd=1&_sasl=mycomicshop%2Cmilehighcomics&_ftrv=1&_from=R40&LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=avengers%20assemble%2010%20dell%20otto&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 That's the one! -J.

  13. Went for $540.00 raw: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-688-J-Scott-Campbell-LIZARD-Variant-VERY-RARE-NR-/351667272502?hash=item51e100bb36:g:MSMAAOSwWTRW1318 -J.
  14. That is exactly how I pack my books and I tape the inner flaps of the box to the larger cardboard so they don't move at all. Meanwhile, some Original Sin variants are getting insane.... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=original+sin+1%3A50+dell%27otto&_sop=1&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xoriginal+sin++dell%27otto+variant.TRS0&_nkw=original+sin++dell%27otto+variant&_sacat=0 The Avengers Assemble #10 has also spiked, last one going for $120 today. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=avengers+assemble+10+dell%27otto&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=30&_udhi=1000000000&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=91604&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=200&LH_Complete=1 -J. This thread is spiking the books ! and the 4 spec sites that picked up on it.. Its funny that people ran out of to chase. At least I'm not the only one to notice this. I think people assign a little too much weight to the influence of these boards. He was already on the radar because of the ASM 667 and then the X 23 #1, and when people ran out of back issue Campbell variants to buy and realized how great this guy's art is and how much more scarce his covers generally are, well the result shouldn't be surprising. Many of his other books were already picking up steam prior to this thread, but it is nice to see such a talented artist getting his day in the sun. -J.

  16. I like the winter soldier on the winter soldier #1 much better as well. The Black Panther Original Sin cover is pretty bad azz too though. Agreed the Gamora one is the best though. -J.
  17. eye appeal for grade is strong. 40+ very reasonable. Obviously seller thinks it's worth 54 (post clink net) -J.
  18. Any thoughts on the FMV of a copy like that ? I could see it pushing $45k at auction. Maybe even 50. Low grade copies that look that nice can't be very easy to come by. -J.
  19. Gator was spot on but I agree that given those notes that the grade seems unfair. Seems like it should be a 3.0 to me. Thanks for doing the note pull by the way. -J.
  20. cover is split and detached...2.0 is as high as it goes...but it does "present" better...not 60K imo, but a pretty copy in the slab... Didn't even see when it was graded. Makes sense on why it graded as a 2.0. A beauty none the less +1 A new to market freshly graded Cap 1. Don't see that everyday. That thing really is nice. The colours pop. Has anyone pulled the grader's note and know for sure that the tape is actually reattaching the cover/centerfold? Would the label still not note such, even If CGC grades it as if the tape were not present? -J.
  21. Here it is. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6019997&fpart=105 -J.
  22. Gamora's reflection with the bloody handprint on that #7... -J.
  23. I would wager that is the copy that came out of the Big Apple Con. It was evidently the most asked about book there. What are you seeing with the lower left corner? -J. 2 color breaking spine ticks... Your guys' eyes are better than mine. I thought those were snowflakes. Not sure that book couldn't still eke out a soft 9.8 though even with those. -J.
