  1. I think it's been established that Bosco's stated budget for his charts depends on whether or not it is a DC or Marvel film and is an amalgam of box office mojo, random articles, gut instinct, wild azz guesses and wishful thinking. I once took them at face value and used them as a quasi-authority. I don't anymore. -J.
  2. That's interesting because I feel as though they are more likely to cut a little more slack on a vintage book than a modern. And the 678 shows spine ticks much more readily than the 667 does. As someone mentioned, the white front cover of the 667 hides colour breaking defects in a scan. There could be half a dozen or more of them on that front cover, with just a few of them extending around to the back cover. It certainly wouldn't just be a couple of them for it to get knocked down to a 9.2, as a couple of "very light" non colour breaking creases with just a couple of spine ticks would not (or at least should not) result in a 9.2 grade. -J.
  3. Yes but the key term is that they break colour. Pressing even light colour breaking creases out can actually make them worse by moving them off the apex of the spine where they may be less visible and onto the front or the back cover. No way that book is ever a 9.6. Ever. I think it stays a 9.2. -J.
  4. People keep talking about the creases. It's the colour breaking spine ticks won't press out and are what will likely keep it a 9.2. -J.
  5. Another 9.4 sold privately this year for $7k. I get what you're saying about the notes but they are misleading. While some of that may be pressable, numerous colour breaking spine ticks are not. Pressing and flattening those out might even make them more noticeable and therefore worse. -J.
  6. Nice ! That's my favorite one from the set. -J.
  7. This particular book is known for having pervasive spine issues. If CGC isn't specifying how many there are I'm assuming it's more than a few. Yes there is a significant value bump going from a 9.2 to a 9.4 but if he is looking to cash out now he's looking at another 2 months minimum before he can sell so that may play a factor. Based on the grader notes though I have my doubts it would go higher, as I think the way the book lies on the scanner hides most of the spine issues (multiple colour breaking ticks). -J.
  8. Hey guys, weigh in on this freshly graded 9.2, ASM 667 Dell'otto: -J.
  9. The copies you are referring to from a while back, those were definitely fake, and they were obviously fake. This copy, posted by Buzzetta, a long time and highly regarded boardie, is definitely an authentic copy, (and as you can see has been graded and certified by CGC). -J.
  10. Hey Buzz, I saw this book get added to the census yesterday. I figured it was your friend's copy. 9.2 is a little lower than I thought he might get, but as we discussed last month, those spine ticks aren't going to be helped with a press, and I'm not sure pressing out the "light creases" will be enough to actually increase the grade. Still a gorgeous book though, as always. -J. PS: You may want to link this in the Celebrate Dell'otto thread to get more responses.
  11. There was an OA black suit Spidey for sale for 7000 euro, which I thought was expensive. Now I rather regret not just getting it. -J.
  12. I would have preferred this being Yoda's hand, giving it to Captain America. -J.
  13. And where are you deriving the budget for this film for your chart? -J.
  14. A 9.8 sold for $2430 yesterday at auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CGC-9-8-AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-300-1ST-VENOM-APPEARANCE-WHITE-PAGES-AUCTION/142761658459?hash=item213d42085b:g:FxEAAOSwV6ta1pr~&redirect=mobile -J.
  15. If you didn't get it you didn't get it. Should still be covered by PayPal, yes? -J.
  16. That is nice. Guess it's almost all about the degree of rarity now. -J.
  17. Am I the only one who sees it ? -J.
  18. People should figure out how "Thanos" is really supposed to be pronounced before they start bellyaching about this. -J.
  19. This is the only one I've seen for quite awhile. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wolverine-1-Deadpool-Campbell-Variant-CGC-9-8/263295855633?hash=item3d4da7ec11:g:WrkAAOSwzXxZ~Phd&redirect=mobile -J.
