  1. Doubt it. Saga is pretty established and can easily stand on its own. No doubt, just wondering why it's going up now.
  2. Yeah, just looked and I'm shocked a little by the prices. Super loyal fans. Close to 2000 copies of #1 in CGC 9.8. Still, more collectors than books even at that number. Probably one of the more deserving books imo. It's weird and sometimes, too weird but it has tons of potential and is always interesting. You think Seven to Eternity is driving it ? IDK, I'm just wondering why the recent uptick. Especially in a time of the year when selling prices are typically not up. Raws were $100-125 beginning of the year if I remember correctly. I'm just thinking maybe people are saying Seven has some staying power and looking back at Saga. I don't have long term faith in Remender. Great writer, but has he done more than 30 issues on a series? Saga is on 40+ with the original team, correct? Does that happen anymore?
  3. Saga #1 is getting out of hand right now. Hmm, connected to Seven to Eternity heat?
  4. Was on the spec. site. No reason to buy now, wait it out. But really, was he not the best new character?! Haha
  5. So, this mini battle, just all going to keep posting in an attempt destroy each other? I would like to think that everyone is on here because they like comics. A common ground.
  6. Never seen that Vampirella. Seems like a steal at that price!
  7. Overall seems to be getting some good returns for $1 books two years ago. Wait until the movie gets closer!
  8. An Admin. on a YouTube Podcast Live Chat. First time internetting?
  9. That is exactly what it was meant to invoke. They have said that Day 1. make your post with evidence or facts, and I am sure those people would be on your side. Also, disagreeing, especially when something is posted with no evidence, is not "combating" you. It's a discussion. You're seeing less frequent posters come out and say the same thing. Yeah, there are a lot of parallels in the market today. Though at least that Wizard list was based on sales, and not just "opinion" or their own books We keep a very close watch on all of the hottest books trading hands throughout the country. Here we have listed for you the 10 most commonly sold and demanded comics. Of course this was before eBay was the giant that it is now. Sounds like they had it down to a science...just take their word for it.
  10. For those that state that three people are ruining this thread, you might want to look in your own reply dialogue box. Other members continuously slander the hard work of members of the larger comic book community and admittedly have an agenda to do such. This has become a place where if you don't agree with someone's OPINIONS, you call them out every time as being wrong and having ulterior motives. Simple and plain. I don't post comics anymore in this thread because there are 3-5 people who will combat any and every post. My last heating up book had sold 15+ copies around the day of release at above LCS prices and I was told by those posters it was not heating up. One said it wasn't because one pre-sold a month earlier at a lesser price. Fastball is the only solid contributor to this thread anymore and I applaud his efforts to try and get things back on track. Fact of the matter is the free lunch that non-contributors (3-5 previously mentioned and lurkers), are looking for is simply not worth the effort. This has become a place where it is not fun to talk about the hobby.
  11. Sorry but credit goes to CBSI on this one. Yes, they have a fan club on here.
  12. Back to Moderns Heating Up. Can anybody tell me where to get the TMNT cookie jar? It's going nuclear right now.
  13. Fables #6 RRP Global Frequency #1 RRP All released at the same time.
  14. What is there to jump on, exactly? No false narrative being used to push it. No "rare" variant for which a low print can be falsely cited. And no conflict of interest between an investment site pushing an exclusive for it while their employees sell it. Someday you'll figure it out. Oh boy, I can't wait to be an enlightened one! Does it come with a pair of white tennis shoes and cup of "punch"?
  15. So a book that has always sold for as much as it did the day it came out? I don't think that exists. Or is that a statement of books that have always remained constant or increased? Don't think that exists either. This is probably as close as you are going to get and it's mainly due to lack of supply vs. demand. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9589044#Post9589044 If variants are the only moderns worth talking about then I don't have much confidence in the staying power of any modern books. As for the original question, I don't know that any moderns have enough age for a test of their staying power. We're getting a sense of which Copper books have remained relevant for 30 years, but this took time. Nobody ever said they were The Modern market it volatile because of TV / movie options. It's hard to get a sense of something that will last if it is tied to that market. You're looking for 1st appearances of new major characters most likely. Kamala Khan is probably the best in recent years, but you're looking at 3 different books probably for a first appearance. The Big 2 have done a nice job of muddying the waters with most of their new characters 1st appearances. Saga is the only one that really comes to mind that hasn't been influenced by TV / movies. But over the last year NYX 3 is up and down because of movies. The list of variants, yea, between 10-15. The thread does a good job vetting those.
  16. why do so many people get confused, (or in past cases extremely butt hurt) in this thread, whenever an actual discussion occurs. It is not the "books for cheerleading thread" If the thread is called, "books that are heating up", then people should discuss whether or not a book is heating up or not. When so many people post books which are clearly NOT heating up, but which they either want to heat up, or others have told them are going to heat up, they should not be surprised, or shocked, or offended, that people might actually question saying: "are you sure thats heating up?" "here are some sales that seem to point otherwise". Ultimately, its either a dont ask dont tell thread, where people only cheerlead for books to go up up and away, or its a discussion thread about what is heating up, and that involves both sides of the discussion, for the books that are mentioned. Lastly, i wasnt scrutinizing the book, though legitimately curious WHY it was brought up in this thread (where it clearly does not belong). If you don't want to respond to my posts, don't. Please don't edit my posts down to the point of using them as a launchpad for your next monologue. Thanks in advance. Chopping someone's post up like that and then using to make some "insightful" observation is just plain lame . As a clarification on internet rules: if someone makes multiple points in a post, how does someone responding know which points they're allowed to respond to? Yes, how would we? If there were only some type of text editing controls. Detective #850 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_sop=1&_nkw=detective%20comics%20850&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Surprised the fan club hasn't jumped on this one yet.

  18. Dear lord man , where are you shopping ?? -J. Translation, please provide exact address so we can shop there, too. That's going to be a long roundtrip for a chance to sniff a hard to find comic.
  19. Pre-Selling copies still isn't in anyone's best interests, and can again result in the same scenario of cooling off once stores, wednesday warriors, and the mail order services have them in hand, we should see this too decline with undercutters an eBay. We are also talking about a title related to one of Marvel's most popular movies, that just dropped an epic trailer. This book should not be under-ordered or off radar like some other low print run books with a 1:25 incentive. I highly doubt any of these more recent 1:25's are the next Hughes Harley Quinn #1's Pre-selling is the new heating up.
  20. I sent you my number. Click on the flashing white envelope. Wait, did you hear the distinctive "You've Got Mail!" tone first?
