  1. Where, people on eBay? Overall I would wager that store variants do better than the masses of variants direct from Marvel every month.
  2. What thread? You really want a thread where a couple of blowhards tell you, based on their opinions & collecting interests, what variants are real and which ones aren't??? +1 http://comicbookinvest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=546&start=70 Hey, a link to actual comics heating up. What a novel idea! Opinion and collecting interests have nothing to do with sold listings.
  3. I have NEVER "attacked" you. I have simply asked you to prove your accusations. I never said the Noto variant was valuable. I simply said I liked it. I even recently tried to sell it on here. Before I posted about it on the other site. Heritage sells a lot of CGC books. So yes, there is a bias and direct correlation.
  4. http://comicbookinvest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=546&start=70 I proved that Noto variant was dirt cheap when people were trying to push it, like you on the cBSi forums, and in the heating up thread here. I also, in this thread, to stay on topic. Informed people this X-23 cover swipe of IH181 was a cBSi sponsored store variant, which no one else was mentioning in this thread. Given how active you are there, you could have done it, but I dont mind letting people know. What exactly did you prove? My market watch is reporting trends on SOLD items. And yet, here we are, you making accusations of something different. Again, how is the Hall of Comics a "sponsored store variant". Again, is Heritage a "sponsored store" because they have an ad on the CGC forums? I could have mentioned the IH181, yes, as I receive their email updates.. But I'm not on here to give free advertising for retailers.

  6. well, I see that site and others like it as Vultures preying on people to make themselves money at the expense of those newest or least experienced to collecting comics. I think they are detrimental to the hobby both now, and exponentially so down the road. They have managed to create a captive audience large enough to move small run books significantly, and do so regularly. They also hide the conflict of interests between their writing and what they themselves are selling. Two of their current Top 10 comics, are their own Store variants. give me a break. Virtually every book they write about is neither heating up, nor valuable, but are available in very small numbers, so can be significantly affected Again, you have been asked before and have still to prove anything about creating a shell game. I will again pose this question for the 10th time, how is one supposed to talk about books heating up in this climate without being accused of pumping and dumping?
  7. Does overstreet list con variants? I assume they dont do store variants. What does that matter? That's like saying a book isn't a first appearance because it's not on a CGC label.
  8. I think a majority of collectors who never see or don't ever know about store exclusives since they are mainly sold directly from a store website or eBay.
  9. Badmouth one site specifically that has done nothing wrong.
  10. You might have snagged the title for biggest agenda on the boards.
  11. Joe's Schmoe's super-fantastic ultra-rare virgin-led-foil variant, only 50 copies printed, is still just Joe Schmoe's variant. Big Con variants that the publishers themselves produce, and dont have 16 cover versions, are far more legitimate. It's not that complicated a concept. If you made the variant it's worthless, if Marvel made it, its worth something. But still, the convention organizers are the ones who commission the variants from the publisher (regardless of the name or size of the convention ) in the identical fashion that retailers do, often in similar quantities and using re-purposed art or alternate versions of the same art as well. So really it is a distinction without a difference. Unless I'm missing something..... -J. If you're talking Big 2, they are typically commissioned and / or approved by the big cheese. If you're talking a Myrat Michaels Dead Pooh, then yes. That's a "home brew".
  12. So if there are a lot of the variant available, like at bigger cons, then it's a "real" variant. Got it... where do people come up with this stuff?
  13. First time you have heard of advertising? Correlation then would be that Hake's and Heritage are sites as well since they advertise on these boards, where a lot of questionable behavior happens. How many did they promise? I can GUARANTEE they are not having 3,000 copies slabbed.
  14. I don't think you would get a raw garbage copy. It's a good shop.
  15. For what? For the unannounced villain. Gunn likes to keep some things quiet and has already said that Thanos may not be the main enemy focus of the film Ahh gothca. Yes, Gunn is a tricky one.
  16. Great buyer, good communication!
  17. I wouldnt say they are price gouging, its just capitalism supply/demand. Certain Faux News comic sites and groups have created a dell'otto bubble, so all his variants get sold out on DCBS quickly. Raising the price to prevent it from selling out isnt really price gouging, just proper business sense. Eventually the Pump-n-Dumps won't be able to shill Dell'Otto's books any higher and a new equilibrium point will be found. Like this thread that is at 150+ pages? This is strictly an artist appreciation thread Oh, well that clears it up then. In fairness there are at least 10 pictures I can think of posted to appreciate. Shoot, let's get crazy and call it 20!

  19. There's now a BIN for about the price of the high auction, so if they want it, it's there. If multiples bid it up past that BIN, it will become fishy.
  20. I am surprised....that people still pay $15-20 for the 1st Doomsday.
  21. You're making it into a hypothetical of how many of the regular covers they sell. We don't know what their ratios are.
  22. Yup, lost me on that one. Have you dipped into some of Jimmy's goods?
