  1. Send the PM, doubt you will get a response since he hasn't posted in 2 years.
  2. Hopefully this one is legit and does not get debunked. Great time to be a kid!
  3. Man, you guys really are dream crushers.
  4. I came across this photo the other day on the interwebs and it really grabbed me. Imagine being able to have actually been at these newstands during that time period and seeing this. I found myself yelling at the gent in the picture, "you're looking the wrong way!"
  5. I understand getting a deal. i believe as a seller, you should know what you have too. but to find a book like this for peanuts, and then STILL want a better deal is pretty foul. The fact that this was sold at a local con presumably by a dealer, that doesn't know his inventory is not on the buyer. While I generally agree with your comment the he could have paid the .50 bottom line is if the seller is happy with what he got no harm no foul. Good looking out by the buyer IMO to notice this book in with the dreck. FTR - I've hit up some garage sales where I've gone out of my way to inform the seller that they had books with significant value and ponied up some extra cash for them. They were appreciative of this but some actually refused and said they are happy with what they were asking and just wanted to be rid of them. Let's be happy for this guy who found a diamond in the rough.
  6. My first GA superhero comics, bought from a boardie...
  7. I would personally vote no to this one. Out all their selling id's across various forums, but I think this might cross the line a bit and lead to some unintented consequences. Just my 2 cents.
  8. That does seem to be the perception, but for the HOS, that's not exactly the case. Year-by-year breakdown on additions (from most to least): 2013 -- 5 2010 -- 4 2014 -- 4 2008 -- 3 (2? -- see AlleyBat notation in edit comments below) 2009 -- 2 (3? -- see AlleyBat notation in edit comments below) 2012 -- 2 2006 -- 1 2015 -- 1 2007 -- none 2011 -- none 2016 -- none 2013 & 2014 seemed to be the apex for bad seeds, so to speak (Red Rocks, the Neelys, and GIJOEISAWESOME were part of that class), but the last year and a half has seen only one new addition to the HOS, while 2008-2010 -- 6-8 years ago -- saw almost half (9 of 22) of the "honorees" inducted in that three-year span. FWIW, there have been only 3 additions to the PL this year as well. That's still 3 too many in a perfect world, but I like those odds better than what I'd find on eBay. EDIT to add: It's been 17 months, give or take a day or two, since the last HOS addition. That's the 2nd longest period between additions if my math is correct (I'm not 100% sure, as the AlleyBat addition seems out of order on the master list -- 5th on the list, but with a date earlier than the three people before. A typo, maybe? If he was put on in May 2008 as the list states, then we are actually in a period tied for the longest without someone being added to the HOS, 2nd longest if it's supposed to be May 2009.) That settles it then. We are long overdue for an add. This chump fits the bill IMO.
  9. I don't think the magnifying glass was on the 3% when the OP started this back in April, or was it?
  10. Bought a nice high grade slab from Steve. Packed secure and arrived quickly. Thanks for a great transaction!
  11. I think if I take a few pics in Chicago this year and put them in my con report, we can really open up a discussion about it. Hopefully you won't chicken out like last year. You know what happened last year. I just don't announce everything on these boards. I'm often amazed and befuddled the amount of highly personal stuff that some people post on the internet. Just don't get it That was my point with deleting.I made that post late last night, didnt mean to say this thread should be deleted....meant to say the Chip Go Fund Me thread should be deleted, for Chip's sake. Of course his name is still plasteted over the internet elsewhere but those other threads are several years old. In any event, my job advice was solid. Construction, as an entry level laborer ( no exp needed) takes the cake over a McDonald's or Walmart job. His own feelings of self worth will NOT be positively effected by slinging fries at Mc D's or stocking shelves st Walmart. A manual labor job, will require a lot of hard work on his part, which will help him mentally in terms of self respect. The job I linked to offered benefits, as well.Any job in construction, starting out as a laborer has room for advancement to a crew foreman, if you pick the trade up and work hard...expect to put in 1-3 years of a laborer before becoming a crew foreman. There is also comradery with the guys you work with while you're busting your a** , under the sun in the summer...and in the cold of the winter months... .......you don't get any of that when you take a job where you're stocking shelves in a soul crushing Walmart warehouse or asking a 15 year old kid if he wants to super size his value meal for an additional 99 cents. As far as the comment by another boardie about deletingChip's posting history on here as "hiding" the facts from a potential employer....I'd say that his posts here are really just embarrassing, and if he truly wants to get his life together, and is eager to work instead of asking others for money, you should not have issue with his taking steps in that direction. There are a million other reasons why he shouldn't have his life spilling out over a public forum, as well. And based on the completely inaccurate and asinine things you continue to post here, I wouldn't hire you to fluff the most syphilitic on the set of a porn shoot. 1-3 years to go from no experience to foreman of a crew? Is that how you ended up building a fire pit the size of Rhode Island? Apart from the foreman comment, I think the construction suggestion is pretty decent. It beats selling vacuums on commission. It'll be hard work, but he will learn a skill. He might feel better physically as well, which usually also positively affects your mental state. It's not the worst idea in the world. My main concerns would be that chip looks to be in his 40's, and jumping into a physically strenuous job like that could be problematic at that age if he's been living a sedentary lifestyle. The last thing the guy needs is a slipped disc or torn up shoulder. The other concern would be the up and down nature of construction. I don't know how much work is available in his area. He'll be just fine. Will go nicely in conjunction with the arthritis he has from playing XBox one.
  12. If anyone knows his addy might be worth a call to the local authorities to go check up on him. Have no idea if he's serious or looking for sympathy.
  13. Thank you. I appreciate you saying that. The best thing about the job is that the more I work, the more I earn. I'm going to hit the ground running and get as many hours in as I can. I just have to make sure I know the product, but that will come with time. The company is doing very well so I know I can make this work. http://www.filterqueen.com Although I'm certain some people make a decent living doing this, it would probably not be my first choice if I needed money asap. I wish you well, Chip, and I hope you fair better than others I have read about. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/directory/filter-queen Seems to be another wise decision Truth is sometimes MUCH stranger than fiction. This has indentured servitude written all over it. I hope he's getting a salary and not 100% commission based. Hope the training is truly "free" He's better off pulling double shifts working 16 hr days at MC D's at $10 an hour, rent a room for a couple hundred a month, buy bare necessities, and save, save, save the rest till he gets it together before jumping into something nutty like this. I do hope he makes a million selling these though.
  14. And I choose to call BS on someone who has a pattern of dishonest behaviour and complete lack of self responsibility. There are many degrees of gravity in dishonest behaviour, and while you are obviously entitled (?) to continue acting as you are, think about this. And it would be good to hear how you calculate the "degree of responsibility" (with "soul reading"?): I suppose at this point everyone obviously agrees on the objective elements of the situation at hand. But you should also recognize that me – or you – could have done much worse should we have lived in "Chip's shoes" so to speak. Ever considered that? Speak for yourself. I think most around here would man up and do what needs to be done to get themselves out of financial dire straits before employing shady tactics to extract money from strangers. I can guarentee you 100% there are folks on these boards that are in worse financial shape then this gent Chip. The minute this dude became a father should have been a big wake up call that it's not just about him anymore. Toy figures then comics, glad I don't collect baseball cards.
  15. Maybe. A full delete of that and what is up in personal and sales thread might be better IMO. Feel bad for the OP however not convinced they were on the up and up about everything. Full delete is a bad idea. Out of sight. Out of mind. People forget and this needs to be remembered and we need to be able to reference it. This is information the board needs to have....that includes the doubts and the changing stories. We're not safer with deleted threads. We've lost threads on some of the worst moments on the boards, items that we'd be wiser having around to remind us. Maybe you're right here. It's sad. A little investigation on google turns up some burnt bridges he had in the toy collecting/trading forums related to bad deals.
