  1. for some reason, this thread makes me think of the movie Castaway. And if they feel it might have been stolen, you can bet they will be very thoroughin their investigation to try to find thee employee responsible. Hope they find your item soon. Good luck.
  2. Was your sale featuring Greggy's severed head on your table? Maybe that is why you have trouble reeling potential customers in. I heard he scored this gem: took me a while but ---- nice!
  3. Next time use google maps and street view to see the area prior to making the drive. That will help you find the place as well as let you know what to expect without getting into the car.
  4. That would make him a hypocrite with what he is charging to sign items.
  5. so true-- and the more knowledge learned seems to remind you how much more there is to know. This site has truly enhanced my love for comics and appreciation of others collections and viewpoints.
  6. So he kills Reverse Flash, saves mom, his remnant that saves his child self is poofed - but he still exists? I guess that works since... If reverse flash is dead, is it safe to say next season Earth 1 Wells is back? I might be getting the time line wrong but I thought RF morphs into Wells after killing Barry's mom. So I am assuming the original Wells never dies and does the same experiment that creates the meta-humans along with creating the Flash (as happened on Earth 2 when that Wells also did the same at Star Labs). But I can only guess what the impact is on all we have seen so far. I mean-- can Eddie still be alive now since he didn't have to sacrifice himself to kill the RF? Time travel paradoxes abound along with my confusion.
  7. I don't understand why this issue keeps coming up. eBay gives you an automated process to handle slow/non-paying buyers. I have mine set to start the non paying buyer at four days. I never send anyone an invoice unless they request combined shipping. If they don't pay, I don't send it- and if I need to relist or go to the second highest bidder (second chance)-- not a big deal. It seems like some sellers posting here are overly concerned about speedy payments. Just because you put "payment due in X days of sale" doesn't circumvent eBay policy. And there are methods in place to demand immediate payment for buy it nows. Sure-- it is a pain to wait if you are anxious to get the item shipped/sold. But nothing these buyers who wait longer to pay (or even until they are issued a nonpaying buyer warning) is breaking any rules other than being perhaps inconsiderate and non-communicative. If they don't pay or give you a sob story about why they can't etc-- by all means-- they need to be considered for blocking. This isn't heart surgery-- we're selling comic books. Let the system handle this stuff for you.
  8. Zell? Who's Zell? and you have a 15 cent FF next to a 25 cent Defenders. sloppy set work imo.
  9. The weird thing for me about that Steranko History of Comics is that I recall buying mine brand new at a book store in the mall around 1977 or so (and volume 2 as well)-- but I have the one you have pictured here which is supposed to be from 1972. Maybe I bought some old book stock - not sure. I noticed it when I was loading my collection to the online site that there were two printings of the book and saw variations to the cover.
  10. eBay link. interesting but not quite what I was thinking of-- but someone answered that already that multi covers have been produced on purpose (can't recall if they were doubles. Seems like the naturally occurring ones are what makes them truly special/collectible. Production fakes are a silly idea and married ones seem fraudulent.
  11. yeah -- I loved that game and so did my brother and mom. We mapped it out together. I used to like to run the course backwards just for a new challenge.
  12. Just signed up--- thanks for the trial code.
  13. I lost an entire summer of my life trying to "beat" Pitfall (collect all 32 treasures). Never happened. perhaps if you had a map?
  14. I did not "hump the button" or notify on anyone. I simply decided to get out of this thread. But rather than let people speculate as to my intent or actions, felt a response was needed. Also-- I am not upset or angry. Just taking my own words about wasting time and realizing I was heading down that path yet again with RMA. The reply that he thought was "emotional" was meant to be funny and nothing more. You cannot make a rattlesnake laugh. I stand by my original post on this matter-- the one that RMA quoted the first line of only -- as my opinion on how to deal with this type of buyer.
  15. if you get into the habit of cleaning up your pictures (trimming off the not essential edges for example) prior to uploading them, using an editor and saving them in the correct orientation-- you will not see this problem happening again. As an added bonus, the picture will be larger as far as the thumbnail shows just the item. though you might miss out of some funny toes or socks that will come up in the outer edges of the frame....
  16. As much as this is being painted as standing up against bad eBay buyers, my take is that you simply enjoy this type of back and forth. If that is not the case-- and you are simply just "mad as hell and not going to take it anymore" when it comes to eBay buyers who string you along-- by all means, go with it. I agree that this guy is a clown who takes no responsibility for this entire matter. He does deserve to be blocked and I have done that. Had this been my sale, I would have just cancelled it and moved on-- maybe mentioned it on these boards as a buyer to block. I don't enjoy arguing over something like this. It is a huge time suck. My experience when trying to show someone ignorant how to live like a civilized human has been that it is far too often a fools errand that is not only frustrating but also fruitless. just my take-- good luck.
  17. that issue is actually from 1971 - September, 1971: from a snipet from a Doug Sulipa list I often use to research Playboy and Penthouse So an intact board game will double the price perhaps. Not that I am a collector anymore-- but I had all my dad's old Playboys as well as my own collection from the late 1980s through about 2008. I sold off a ton of them on eBay prior to moving to Arizona -- mostly selling a full year at a time and getting about 10 bucks or so for the mid/late 1990s books. The more recent issues (2000s) actually sold faster and at a better price. I have since moved all of them to Amazon listings and get the occasional sale there for about 8-9 per book (net profit after selling fees, postage). I have sold some fairly beat up 1960s copies for decent money-- nothing crazy. I also recently sold my Trump cover issue (early 1990s) for 14 bucks. The key like with many mag sales depends on the cover subject most of the time. But interior content can also matter as I sold a June 1963 cover less issue that had nudes of Jayne Mansfield. And of course-- condition is very important most of the time.
  18. That seems way off-- imagine if someone drank a 55 gallon barrel of beer -- you would die of alcohol poisoning. Well-- unless you were composed mostly of plastic and had no actual digestive, nervous, or pulmonary systems.
  19. no kidding-- and the even more rare Australian edition to boot.
  20. Yeah, it was odd to show three Flash books but zero Marvel books. There was a better shot showing the bottom of the spinner rack, but I was too lazy to take another screenshot. There's also better shots of the wall in Better Call Saul but I didn't screen capture it. Thanks for the link. I knew there was another thread but never looked for it. here are the screen captures I did: You can see the current comic under the Superman repro cover clearly here- and other books. more...
  21. The Playboy is August 1973 Monsters on the Prowl #24- Aug 1973 Fantastic Four #137 - Aug 1973 JLA #106 - Aug 1973 Superman #266 - Aug 1973 MAD #160 - Jul 1973 Can't quite figure out what is between JLA and Superman -- DC is not my forte. One thing I have found with anything done by the creators of Breaking Bad and BCS is the attention to detail-- so having an accurate news stand rack along with time accurate products is not surprising. The only thing odd about the rack is how neatly organized it was not to mention how uncluttered/not overstuffed with books overlapping. That's how I remember those racks and how they are most of the time even today when I see them in the grocery store (my only non-LCS view of a periodicals display that I see anymore).
  22. I had screen shots of the 11.22.63 show in another thread-- I think in the Silver Age forum. I can't remember exactly what thread it was but we came to the conclusion that the books were reproduction covers over current comics. But the dates of the books were somewhat accurate. You will notice there are only a handful of DC books that are repeated in both the rack and the wall display. Didn't think about the news stand in the background while watching that scene from Better Call Saul - nice catch. also worth checking out is this thread about comics in movies (placed here to avoid having to search for it as well in the future): http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1022707&fpart=10
  23. My experience with Disney_fun123. He bought a $1000 comic from me around noon last Saturday (6 days ago now). Was one of three expensive sales that day. I invoiced all immediately. He was the only one who waited until Sunday to pay. I messaged all 3 (once they paid) to establish pleasant contact and to let them know I would be shipping Monday AM. He was the only one who did not respond. I also messaged all 3 on Wednesday, checking back in, letting them know the comics would arrive that day, or possibly the next, and asking them to let me know if anything was amiss. He was the only one who did not respond. All 3 books required signature confirmation. He was the only one who was not home. He has still not picked up the book. The post office has had it for over 24 hours. You know what? He paid. He'll pick up his comic sooner or later. He might or might not ever leave eBay feedback. He probably won't send a personal message of thanks. Was it the warmest of interactions? No. But he did pay. Given his large amount of feedback, I'm guessing he does pay most of the time but I wouldn't be surprised if some of his purchases get neglected. He does seem busy or otherwise unresponsive. I hardly ever contact a buyer unless they message me first. That way they can't ding your DSRs on communication if there isn't any. If someone messaged me that many times over a purchase I would think they were a little weird. You might think you are doing some great customer service attention thing-- but other folks might find it annoying and over the top. He bought something-- paid for it eventually -- he doesn't need to have a conversation about the sale or even provide you feedback. Just my take-- not everyone has the time to carry on a communication or be sitting at the door waiting to receive a signature required delivery. I have on occasion sent some messages to buyers letting them know that I see a package appears delayed in the USPS system. I don't expect a reply-- I am just telling them I am paying attention to the delivery of the item they bought. Some reply-- some don't. I only do it to put them at ease that the package is in fact in the shipping system despite seeing little information in the eBay tracking. That said-- it is a pretty rare occurrence to need to do that.
