  1. an ebay ad for Voldemort books on the CGC forum... seems wrong to me
  2. bowen-barry - blocked 'em, no one has time for that nonsensical, hyper-critical behavior. Sounds like he even bothers the postal workers.
  3. so.... how much to use your time machine?
  4. would love to hear the details and the messages involved--- half the "fun" of this thread
  5. I hope the lesson learned by some here is to stop jumping to conclusions and over-reacting so quickly. A week could have gone by before any of those questionable posts were made and giving anyone ample time to respond in the first place is just common courtesy. I have had some ebay buyers who DEMANDED I respond to them in a certain time frame before and I have always found that ridiculous-- to the point of cancelling a sale and blocking them going forward. This is not heart surgery -- it is not something requiring immediate attention in most cases.
  6. I side with FD -- he gave the information concisely and was responsive. The buyer seemed to way overboard about this as if it was a life or death issue. People have lives outside of ebay- this is not the end of the world. Sure-- he could have gotten all flowery about the response and been the one pushing the conversation I suppose. But at some point, the buyer has to understand that: 1) things happen 2) being patient while those issues are worked out is the right attitude 3) threatening a negative is a HUGE no-no on eBay It is all about being reasonable as far as I am concerned. Miss-sent books don't magically get rerouted. I mean, how can the buyer not understand that another customer got some of his books by mistake and might not even have them yet to know there is an issue? Mountains out of molehills.
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome! I plan on doing just that (sharing images) as soon as I finish reading through all the threads on scanning, posting, creating emojis, yoda yada. Hopefully it won't take seven years, like my last post... Yoda Yada Yada
  8. Sure...Savage complains....but Dr. Savage has more intelligence in one electron in his body than Marky does in his entire body. And despite the crappy video (he did apologize for it)....I did compare the book in both videos and he's made his point to my satisfaction--although he could've done it way more succinctly. What he's not talking about is how he treated the folks in e-mail and on the phone. he hasn't but he is doing an extended demonstration version in the videos. I'd hang up on someone talking to me this way (and have)
  9. my guess is he alleges that CGC damaged the book while re-holdering it somehow- and simply reprinting the grade original given to the book. Maybe he is bucking to make it on Tosh.0
  10. went with 5, 23, and 39 classic 5 (gotta respect the first one) profile 23 (the Kirby control panel helped barely beat out 16) menacing 39 (always loved this cover)
  11. I never assume combined shipping. If it is not stated, I ask if I am factoring in the shipping cost to the total of my overall bid. While they are sort of wrong for not combining, not asking them lands on your shoulders. I would leave either no feedback or positive feedback but lower ratings on the shipping section, along with a warning comment to others not to assume fairly priced combined shipping. Something like "Nice books, as described- shipping costs were unreasonable" Also-- stop buying from them.
  12. it would be a nice resource if there was a pinned thread on top of the SA and BA (and GA for that matter) that listed links to all the various club threads. Has that been tried before?
  13. you sure are finding some cool books - always loved this cover
  14. oh I've had those for a long time-- but I agree, excellent story. Took me forever to get the 30 for some reason. Slowly but surely filling the holes in the old DD collection.
  15. not very cool (sorry Rob) but a book I have wanted for a while... as it has my two favorites on the cover. Nothing amazing condition wise clearly but glad to finally have any copy of this book.
  16. if you edit your posts, you can resize the pictures to large thumbnails which will allow people to view them more easily. say the file link is htttp://imagesiteexample/xxxxx.jpg add a small lower case L to the end of the file name change it to htttp://imagesiteexample/xxxxxl.jpg it would improve this thread and I know I would appreciate it
  17. snipped from the NOOB guide-- where you can find all the answers typically Generally, never post an image larger than 1000px for either Horizontal or Vertical. You can resize large photos or scans on Microsoft Paint. - Open the image with Microsoft Paint - "Resize" at the top left - Select "Pixels" - Usually 700 - 750 for the longer side is best Upload using http://www.tinypic.com (You can resize here as well: Message Board (640x480)) Upload your image, then copy and paste the: "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" You can also do a Google Image search for images: Google Images, click on the image, click "View Image", copy the link at the top of your browser, paste it using above. Other sites to upload: http://postimage.org/ http://www.photobucket.com (if you use Photobucket, be advised the image will disappear after a period of time) http://imgur.com/
