  1. First of all, thanks to those who purchased from me a few months ago AND for the nice Kudos. I've got another small variety of comic books for your browsing pleasure. The mix is wildly random. 1st “I'll Take It!” in the thread wins and trumps all private negotiations. NOTE: To maintain an even playing field, a simple “take” (but nothing shorter) will do. Make sure to quote the book you are taking. Payment by PayPal within 24 hours of invoice. (To avoid confusion, please do not rescind your take or swap with others on the thread.) Shipping in USA is $8 for a USPS Priority flat (up to 3 raw books) or $15 for a box (slabbed book or 4+ raws). For outside the U.S., PM me before taking. No returns on slabbed books, but for raw contact me within three days of receipt and send it back on your dime in the same shape. Of course, if I missed something important I'll pay for return shipping. No probation listers or HOSers.
  2. The Art of Glamour contains a lot of great Matt Baker artwork, but still only a small fraction of his output. Regardless, if you like Baker at all, you should own this book. IIRC, after the book was pretty much done and ready for the printer, Shaun Clancy obtained an interview with one of Matt Baker's true friends Frank Giusto, who provided personal sketches that Matt had done for him. I think that chapter is the best in the book. Also, The Art of Glamour features the most accurate and complete checklist of Baker's professional work. It gets a few things wrong, but has been much more reliable than Overstreet, which has in the past misattributed Baker artwork.
  3. Like Rick & Robot said, there are many instances of miscut St. John books. Their quality control was poor. In the case of this particular publisher, I personally wouldn't assume a book is trimmed unless a pro restoration detector examines it in hand and says so.
  4. My copy of All Picture Comedy Carnival is full of crime comics remainders, but no Baker. Imagine buying your kid a book with a cute little cartoon girl on the front...and inside it's all crime and death!
  5. A few days ago, I contacted the seller asking for photos and a description of what was wrong with the interior of this book. It's obvious from the rear cover scan that there is a jagged torn edge poking out at the side, and a page sticking out the top WITH ART ON IT. The seller responded that he would provide more photos...but he never did, so I didn't enter any bid. If there are torn siamese pages that affect the art, the grade will suffer greatly. That book is NOT a 6.0.
  6. I think the guy in the tux is a poor dude in a rented suit. The other guy is obviously the rich one. He's wearing a rare YELLOW leather jacket and probably has an expensive hot rod parked nearby.
  7. Unless you haven't gotten the idea yet, Matt is great to do biz with. I sold him a book on the boards, and it was a breeze!
  8. As some of us say here in Oklahoma, any tornado that doesn't kill you is a good one!
  9. For what it's worth, I agree.
  10. If you need yet more confirmation that Roger is a great guy to do comic book business with, here it is. I sold Roger some books via the forum last week. He paid promptly and is a great communicator. You couldn't ask for a better transaction.
  11. i truly appreciate the quick action from the night owls here. Got a busy day planned with the family tomorrow, but I'll check back in sometime after 4 pm Central, if not before. Master Comics 18 and Superman 61 are still available.
  12. Pictorial Romances 10 CGC 5.0 Off-White/White (St. John/November 1951) Don't get on that plane! This is the last I'll list for now, and it's an ALL MATT BAKER issue, which is why I bought a raw copy and am selling this one. (I was on the verge of cracking it out.) Every page of story art features Baker babes. Matt's cover takes us back to how America flew in 1951, with the props creating wind on the tarmac and ladies decked out in the latest fashions as travellers boarded the plane. The catty-thinking blonde is up to no good. Baker books have gone so crazy lately that I don't know what they're worth anymore, so we'll start at... $550 -- SOLD to Roger66
