  1. With the few raw books I've bought on ebay, I end up dissapointed probably half the time. I now typically avoid raw books on ebay because usually we have no idea if the seller can grade accurately or can detect restoration. I make exceptions if I know the seller, or they are a known, respected comic dealer. Buying CGC books gives a good piece of mind from a grading & resto check standpoint. You can always crack it out of the slab if you want to read it too.
  2. Great group shot of Adventures. Love those pre-1940 DCs.
  3. It's a partial cover image from Action #138. I decided to rid myself of the "modern" avatar and have one more in line with my current collecting interests: Golden Age
  4. Sweet Actions George! I was hoping they were snagged up by a board member such as yourself. I've got to go with the #19 as my favorite, but that 16 in highgrade is just awesome.
  5. That's a really cool war cover on that Captain Aero. Never seen that one before.
  6. Thanks Jon! Very similar indeed. Actually I've got some early Actions that sound like they came from the same collection as your Action 15. The tears, stains, lack of a cover ... maybe a new undiscovered pedigree? I like those early Actions in almost ANY condition. The great stories, the classic artwork, and the beginnings of an iconic character.
  7. so it's just like being Greggy then ? Kind of ...... well actually no, it's just the opposite.
  8. Thanks Alton. (thumbs u Join the Action 15 club and go for that ComicConnect copy. Once you own one, the air becomes crisper, food tastes better, & girls pay more attention to you.
  9. I should check myself, maybe I have an Action 13 in there misfiled.
  10. Thanks! Action 15 isn't all that rare, but most of the copies I see are in the 1.0 - 3.0 range, so I'm real happy with a solid midgrade. Your pickups this year have been pretty great as well. Too many to mention, but I especially like that Action 4 & TEC 22.
  11. I haven't seen those Hits before. Very cool, especially the 9 & 10.
  12. As an excuse to bump this thread, here's a book I don't think I've never posted here. Luckily CGC noted it was a "Superman cover" on the label or I might have completely missed it and threw it in with my Archie collection.
  13. Action #1. "The" ultimate key and IMO has more upside in value over time.
  14. Nice assortment of great books Steve! What's the specs on that beautiful Tec 29? grade? resto?
  15. Nice Action #4! Just the one defect that brings the grade down on an otherwise VERY nice copy. I think that Action 14 is still the highest graded copy isn't it? Great books!
  16. Congrats Ben! I agree, it certainly presents nicer than a 5.0. Not many bigger books that this one. (thumbs u
  17. Awesome Actions!!! They look great together in a group shot.
  18. Sweet Cap 12 with a cool black cover. I like the Cap covers that deviate from the usual red backgrounds. (thumbs u
  19. Bat 1 for me. Packed with more classic stories than any other key available.
  20. Resto or no resto, the TEC #1 wins out on which book I'd rather have in my collection. I just have mild interest in the Adventure.
  21. Those Christmas issues have some of the best Action covers from that time period. All of them look really nice, and if I had to pick I'd say the 117 is the best. Great collection!
  22. One of the most impressive group shots we've seen in this thread. Fantastic run of Mystery Men books! (thumbs u
  23. Even if the TEC 3 presented better, I'd still take the Archie 1. More potential for this book down the line IMO.
  24. Grade shmrade (thumbs u I'm in the Batman #1 camp as well for all the reasons already described.
