  1. PM sent! You're correct at what a challenge it is to find some of these. It's not like they are worth a lot so they tend to not make it onto websites or Shows. You have some I've been hunting down for almost 10 years. 5 to go and my Conan run is complete. (Then I'll fall into "upgrade" mode on it...)
  2. I've shared this before but it reminds me how much I loved his work. I did this at age 14 Circa 1980. I also tried to recreate the cover of Swamp Thing 2 but it's lost to antiquity.
  3. One of my art inspirations and favorites. I met him once at Motor City and regret not getting something signed. I wish him the best.
  4. Wow! Great prizes! I remember how blessed I was last year to win Greggy's prize. His generosity is 2nd to none.
  5. Big Thank You to Jazz Man! Love the slabs, especially the DC 100 Pager.
  6. Just got back from it today. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. My biggest complaint is the over-the-top action scenes that Snyder likes. It could use a better balance. Plus, it was a bit unbalanced setting up the future movies. Tell a great story and the rest will work itself out. Oh, and not a fan of the movie's Flash.
  7. Swamp Thing #9 cover is one of my favorites. I did a re-creation when I was 14. (Crayons and pen on cardboard... ) Love Wrightson's work and wish he'd make it back to Motor City some day.
  8. I love that Astonishing Spider-Man Treasury. I still have mine which I bought new at Lindau drug store in Sylvania Ohio back in the day. Ended up hunting down the MTU #4 later in life because of it. Last year I bought a reader copy of the Treasury size for my nephew at C2E2.
  9. A little delayed but I found these at a Flea Market being set up the July 4th weekend. My nephews and I were checking out some antique stores and a flea market was setting up for the next day. I asked one of the couples if they had any comics and she had a small pile of them, 50 cents each. I pulled these 2 out because I didn't think I could really go wrong at 50 cents each. The Fawcett Funnies is intact but the cover is loose. My oldest comic right now, beating out a Don Winslow I've had for over 35 years. (Just to say I own a Golden Age comic... ) The GI Combat looks great except for the top FC chunk missing from the cover. I'm going to post them in PGM as I struggle with Golden Age grading.
  10. Great thread! It's been awhile since I've read a thread this long. One of these years, I'd love to help at a show like Motor City. Just for the experience.
  11. You sum up a dilemma that I never reach. I tend not to have time to spend on what you did even though I dream of the "score". For me it's kind of like playing the Lottery. I never do so I'll never win.
  12. I do. So close to finishing the first Conan... I have completed the original JLA plus the 3 B&B's
  13. No where near as good as the Jusko one but the FF 72 inspired me to paint a Silver Surfer a few years ago. I remember buying my first FF 72 back in 1981 because of the cover. I got rid of it during college in 1986. Being nostalgic, I bought a FF 72 a few years ago just so I could own it again. Naturally, it's my pick. The painting is still downstairs in the studio but it might see the light of day someday. thanks for letting me share.
  14. OK, so this isn't quite an Antique store find but I found this in the back office of my local LCS. It was in a stack. I asked what they wanted for it and they said $25. I don't collect it but it seemed like a decent impulse buy. Looks to be a nice VF/NM 9.0. I had no idea what it was worth. Always found the cover funny. Superman is sporting 70's sideburns and Captain Marvel looks just like the 1940's.
  15. I loved those as a kid! I have them downstairs along with Spidey, Cap and others. Got me into reading and collecting Conan.
  16. I know it has it's own thread but this is our repository so I will add this here. Latest in a string of group pictures I have done. Plan on taking it for prints this week.

    Gotham

I liked it. It wasn't perfect but it kept me watching unlike Agents of Shield last year. I do agree there were too many villian intros but I'm intrigued by how the Penguin turns out. Any guess on Solomon Grundy in the future? There was a Grundy Street mention.
