  1. Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 5.5 COW Book was previously a CGC 6.0 that was regraded and came back a CGC 5.5 I initially bought the book because of the superior eye appeal. The book has the front cover eye appeal of a VF or VF+ copy. It looks fantastic and like a 6 figure book in hand. There are some back cover chips and tiny spine split that keep the grade from higher. Asking price is $18,000 (shipping included anywhere in the world) Raw scan of FC
  2. Price includes shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Consider all books pressed. All books with new CGC labels are in the latest, non-pressurized cases. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  3. I long for the days when people loved comics and not the money that they are worth.
  4. Normally there are only 1 of those paintings. They are also reasonably educated in what they want to buy and do some research. Most people who have a lot of money don't have millions in cash laying around. The wealth is stored in things, so coming up with a Mill often means liquidating something else. Millionaires don't go around dropping $1MIL dollar bills frivolously. Even billionaires don't.
  5. I was going to mention that. When Metro's 'prices paid' want list was still valid, the Heritage 9.4 went for what Metro was willing to pay for it. $450K is a lot of scratch for a 9.2 (I was offered one for a customer and he turned it down - money wasn't an issue) so someone must have really wanted this one bad.
  6. They are common. It's an awesome book and and awesome cover but not everyone is a Spidey fan. And that doesn't make them haters. I prefer FF #1 over AF #15. I like the story, artwork and the characters better.
  7. there were three of them last time I checked?...might push 7 figs again I think so. AF15 in 9.6 is a 1MM book. And I also clearly remember it was not that long ago that most board members here said that the previous $1.1M sale for an AF 15 about 5 years ago would have resulted in a big loss for the purchaser if they had tried to out it back in the market. It's amazing how fast the market for all of the keys and classic covers have gone up in just the past couple of years. The key is not what you price a book at before it sells, what matters is what someone is willing to pay after it sells. As much as key books look like gold after the fact, someone laying out 7 figures for a comic is a big decision and even millionaires don't do it lightly. When the 1st 9.6 sold it brought out a few others. The 2nd sold for much less than $1MIL.
  8. The business of selling comics is one of the only businesses in the world that I know of that gives interest free loans, indefinitely, with no pre-approval almost across the board. Whether it's time payments or lay away on new comics, it's crazy when you think about it. And that is likely because there is a high level of trust among customers, but if you're running a thin margin business it can be scary as soon as a few people don't pay up. Not really loans, though. Sorry, extended line of credit.
  9. That is a strong sale but in the grand scheme of things it also just continues to push up the Hulk #1 9.4 value. Because we've had several AF #15 9.6 sales to set a baseline, the lower grade prices fall into place quite nicely. The lone Hulk #1 9.4 is a legendary book and many old school collectors (and I) actually have no idea where it would end if it came up for sale. I'm not saying Hulk #1 is more valuable an AF #15 but because it's so much tougher of a book in grade it's hard to figure out how hard a high end buyer would pursue it.
  10. My post was directed at showcase22gr1959 claiming $375 or even $392 being a 'shattering' result.
  11. A sell over 375K will shatter the Hulk 1 9.2 Northland copy, though the one sold on Pedigree already did. Would this be a new record for a 9.2. Are you sure? The Northland sold for $325 2 years ago but just resold for $375 recently. I wouldn't think 3% or 4% more is 'shattering' anything.

That's what I'm saying...be friendly and considerate, but reasonably protect yourself too. Unfortunately, most dealers are dealers out of passion and not business school grads (although there are many of those as well). Anyhow, I thought the article would create some good conversation and it looks to be positive.

  14. The Unspoken Crisis Killing Local Comic Shops $1,481.20 worth of comics not picked up from our subscription service in the last 3 months. The single biggest threat to your local comic shop is not digital comics, it’s ordering books and not picking them up. The subscription service is a benefit to both the store and the subscriber. It helps with ordering since comics are ordered 3 months prior to shipment. It can also impact weekly customers and orders negatively by preventing paid inventory from becoming positive cash flow. Please be kind to your local comic shop and pick up your comics.
  15. Superstar! Triple double Casey, it's obvious the Raptors can score. They nailed 122 points but that isn't how the got to the ECF last year. Raptors defense has self destructed. From what I can piece together they went hard after Pau Gasol and gave up Scola and Biyombo who were integral to their defense. When Gasol decided to go to San Antonio that left Raptors to scramble to fill their holes and the picked up Poeltl from Austria. Good young player but nowhere near the boards monster that Biyombo was. After a couple of humiliating losses to SA and GS it's safe to say that they are down on their confidence. The need the Vets on the team to take it up a notch as right now it ain't pretty.
  16. You know, I might be a bit oversensitive at his point but I also think it"s worth pointing out that different petsonalities also see the same thing differently and intention can be misinterpreted...hence the need for a discussion or a vote at times. I appreciate the apology. So is that horse dead yet?
  17. Because people were were amusing themselves at the expense of 11 people who voted no. Because perception is important and I wanted people to know I didn't vote no. Because it's important to me that no side takes precednce simply due to peer pressure. Because I have all the time in the world right now and I'm bored. If you want a democracy, part of it is respecting all voters. Especially the ones you disagree with. Isn't that the cornerstone of the public vote? In other words, you got caught in your wordplay. Got it. You know, I've seen you go after others vindictively as well as me on other topics. Hopefully one day you look to see the good in people. Have a good one!
  18. I was hoping you would vunteer to do that. It's important to establish a precednce. Some would say that your precednce is unpresidented. That's unpossible. Two Pence for your thoughts.
  19. Roy, let it go would you. You just said its irrelevant how anybody voted but you tell us how you voted. This thread needs to die. Your beating a dead horse here. I need to let it go. Some people have been using this thread as their weekend entertainment but I need to let it go. Why is it that whenever I want to have a discussion I need to drop it but when 20 grown men want to make fun of person ad naseum they don't. I'll give you a clue: I was never popular in high school either.

  21. I'd answer that but it's really irrelevant who voted what. All it does is give everyone something to talk about. As with anything in life, I did what I felt was best for the community. So you abstained from voting but worded it so people would assume you voted yes since you "didn't vote no." A vote statement that you brought up in the first place. Well played Sir! Abstaining is just so lame. I'd have more respect for someone who voted NO, however misguided, at least it shows some kind of belief system. Abstaining is just like cocking a snook at the HOS procedure, because you can't get your own way accepted by other members (and you know how the vote is gonna go). Don't understand this level of petulance. Abstaining is actually not lame. It's a choice. Not respecting people's choices is lame. Ready? Fire, Aim!

So you abstained from voting but worded it so people would assume you voted yes since you "didn't vote no." A vote statement that you brought up in the first place. Well played Sir! Actually, I voted yes but I believe it is irrelevant how anybody voted because all that really matters is the final decision. Or is this really about all the individual voters?
