CGC’s OFFICIAL Mechanical Errors / Returns Policy
Gaard replied to SpineTic's topic in Comics General
I've heard 2 stories on how MEs were handled before. 1) Just send in your MEs - no need to get approval or call CS. 2) Call CS and get approval before sending in your MEs. Were your MEs approved beforehand? -

CGC’s OFFICIAL Mechanical Errors / Returns Policy

This policy change has hints of desperation in it's aroma. Is it possible these people have run out of options to try and stop the bleeding that this years-long QC fiasco has caused? -

You seem to be an honest person who says exactly what he's thinking. This is what I'm taking from your statement(s). Correct me if I'm wrong... You aren't necessarily in favor of this new policy because it's the right thing to do. Rather, you're in favor of it because it benefits you. -

Maybe I did too many drugs in my youth ... I just don't understand how people can agree with this policy. -

Sounds scary. I'd be more inclined to do this if I wanted to move it towards the left (spine side), but isn't there a risk of tears around the staples when moving it towards the right?

CGC’s OFFICIAL Mechanical Errors / Returns Policy
Gaard replied to SpineTic's topic in Comics General
Yes, it really is. I can't wait for these Blackstone guys to finally decide they're not making enough money and sell this company to people who actually know right from wrong. Hopefully, they'll know a little about comics, too. I miss the days when CGC was a good company. For the past few years, it's been a very slimey one. -

CGC - "We F'd up. We'll give you about a week to complain about it. After that, if you want us to fix our F-up, pay us." pathetic -

Reminds of a movie I saw a while back (Don't recall the name - it wasn't that great) Anyway, some big CEO type guy is sitting at a table in a fancy restaurant. A lady reporter walks up to him and says something like "If you don't do what's right, I'm going to tell everyone what a b@st@rd you are." The guy looks at her for a few seconds and says, "Honey, you can call me whatever you want ... as long as I'm rich." -

It just doesn't seem right that these guys put on a time limit to fix their mistake. I'm no lawyer, but is that even legal? -

"...for clarity and consistency." I hope nobody here swallows this. I'm pretty sure we all know the real reason for this 'policy'. -

What would cause this? -
That sucks. It's not surprising in the least, however. Somewhat related... I've heard stories like yours countless times since I've been here - the same corner damage to a whole submission.Never once, however, have I heard of CGC calling a customer to let them know that their stack of books was accidentally dropped on the floor, resulting in damage. I'd be curious to know if anyone has experienced this. Surely, there are honest employees working there - ones who will admit a mistake and report it to their supervisor. After all, as we are frequently reminded, there are hundreds of thousands of submissions every year. When an employee consciously decides not to report an accident like this, it automatically becomes deceit. Perhaps the consequences of admitting an accident like this are very severe? Perhaps the employees are too dishonest to come clean to their supervisor? Perhaps the employees have been instructed by CGC to not volunteer any information regarding these accidents, CGC will deal with it if the customer complains? Regardless of the reason, it seems like CGC condones it.
