First. Unless CGC notes the printing on the label, it's a first printing. Wow! Where did you find that raw? Bought raw off of eBay in 2001 or so. CGC couldn't encapsulate when the first magazine slabs came out, but they've modified the slabs since then.

Great write-up, Scott. It's great that your enthusiasm hasn't worn off; you were jumping up and down on Thursday at dinner and on the phone. Thanks. When I started picking them up a few years ago, I wasn't interested in writing them up...I wanted to bring them to the Chinese (Cantonese) immersion K-8 school in San Francisco, to talk to kids about prejudice and the changing views. I haven't been asked back for career day since I changed companies, and it's harder for me to take a day off. Hopefully at Wondercon I can pick up some Silver Streaks...the depiction and symbolism of Yellow Claw is an article in itself.

..that has to be the most horrific propaganda cover I've ever seen,... Yeah, if for no other reason than to encourage all of the boys and girls to turn the Jap into a Monkey.

A favorite of mine too....and currently on my watchlist. Did you see/bid on the one in Heritage's auction that ended last Sunday? No, I didn't. I try not to look at Heritage auctions. What was the grade, hammer price? Raw, graded F/VF, and sold for $262.90 including BP.

Holy smokes! That's gorgeous! How in God's name did you train your wife so well??? It has moderate restoration, with a small piece added to the top front right corner. Also, it's been cleaned and pressed, but the book has a very solid feel to it. The pages are beautiful, although a couple of interior pages have small tears and/or chips. Still, it's in absolutely beautiful shape. It's taken a lot of training...think of positive reinforcement with what she loves...designer purses, sparkly jewelry, etc. Actually, more than anything, I think it's that she loves to see how happy comics make me, and hanging out with forumites in SF and San Diego show that we have a great community. She even defended the amount she spent with her parents, since she had them charge it so it wouldn't show up on the credit card and ruin the surprise.

My wife just gave me this: one of the 3 pre-Batman Tecs that I must have. [insert evil laugh].

No one has posted possibly the best cover ever?!? My crappy copy will have to do...
