  1. Where do these numbers come from? I imagine they're estimates based on actual Comichron numbers for recent issues.
  2. Was that really this figure's name? Isn't this the droid in the Jawa transport?
  3. Hope so. I just got my Suicide Squad 1 (11/11) back from CGC at a 9.6, the now classic Batman Harley Quinn #nn 1st print at 9.8, and I have the first run HQ #1 singed by Dodson on its way back from CGC. What is it about SS #6 and #7 that get a premium? What about the Gothem City Sirens #1? I just looked into this now out of curiosity, since I knew had a few Sirens issues. Surprised to find out how much these are going for. I think I need to unload my first and second print of #1 and #2.
  4. Ah, nothing like loyalty to customers that helped make you what you are. What exactly is this supposed to mean? This isn't something like Coke/New Coke, where you expect the same exact product every time you pay for it. It's a creative field. I'd say it's a disservice to loyal fans to keep throwing the same type of story at them. Keep it fresh by playing with the concept, I say.

  6. The Uncle Scrooge 1:25 variants sell for as much, if not more, than some of the popular Marvel variant artists. I have no interest and see no reason to speculate on any or most of the Marvel variants. You're probably in the wrong thread. Either that or why bother comment if that is your approach? You did ask.
  7. Again the big difference is in MOS 17, there's really no arguing that those were not Doomsday fists. However, in Web 18, those hands are just too ordinary looking and there's no other supporting evidence that they belong to Eddie Brock / Venom. I know what you mean that it would make sense that they should belong to Venom, but what's stopping a writer from making a new villain tomorrow that knows Spider-Man's secret identity and can evade his spider sense? If that writer decides to reference back to Web 18 stating that this character has always been stalking or trying to kill him, that will throw a wrench to all the folks that bought the book thinking it was Venom. I'm not saying its not Eddie's Brocks hands nor can anyone officially say it belongs to him. It's just too vague to be considered a key. 9. I've grabbing copies whenever I can find them, but never ever paying that much. Maybe he or she knows something we don't know. Really not even the right book to speculate on ? #53 would be the KEY. Why not pick up both? I been plucking both of these books in bargain bins for years whenever I see them. I have a strong feeling this will end up the same as Man of Steel 17/18 where X-Man #15 may get a stronger price boost simply because the print run is far lower than X-Men #53. Booth are good. but x-man #15 is just a shadow cameo. It's the same with MOS#17 where you only see Doomsday's fists, yet it commands a much higher price than MOS#18. Yes but Web 18 does not. Can we all just agree that people want what they want? Only if we can all agree that the market for comics isn't a reliable source for determining what is and is not a first appearance. Of course it isn't. That's determined by the story a character first appears in.

  12. That's mostly right. It was Harbinger #2 when Peter met Harada (the second time, after the #0 story). The Harbinger trade paperback changes what Harada said in Harbinger #2 to "remember me?" instead of "Hello, I'm..." Harada has so much experience with wiping people's minds that sometimes he forgets who remembers who met him previously.
  13. even at the time of release, new mutants 100 was a pretty big deal, so many collectors and dealers probably remember the timeline correctly as it relates to the annual. And no one here has really argued that the annual came first. Now that in and of itself is not definitive proof, but its probably safe to assume that NM100 came out first, because people come out of the woodwork here to show they no more about comics than the majority. Xmen 266 and xmen annual 14 were not 'events', which I think is why nobody really thought about what was first until Gambit got more popular a bit later. With that being said, I don't think anyone is disputing that the Annual 14 was distributed first physically, people just argue how that should or does matter because of cameo definitions, intent, storyline content. With that being said, if the NM Annual 7 IS the 2nd app of X force (I don't know that it is or isn't), there could be some perceived value in that as there are relatively few slabbed copies, and the type of material of the book does not seem to be easy to keep in high grade. Ephemeral value at most depending on if a movie is made, probably not great long term value. I'm not suggesting the Annual came before NM 100. But perhaps before X-Force 1, which could make it the first full X-Force *story,* but not the first appearance. But maybe that's not important.
  14. Here's an interesting question. New Mutants Annual #7 and X-Force #1 both are cover dated August 1991. The team in New Mutants Annual #7 is the X-Force team, so this might actually be the first X-Force story, depending on which shipped first. (I forget what the story in NM #100 was like; I know that it's the first appearance of the team, but it's basically a New Mutants story, no?). Is there similar material out there to establish the ship date, as was done with UXM Annual #14? And, of course, does anyone think it actually matters?
  15. He's in a pinup in one of the Annuals that appeared prior to 99, I believe. Depending on your opinion of pinups, some might consider that a first appearance. http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/New_Mutants_Annual_Vol_1_6 Scroll to the bottom.

  17. Crisis and Secret Wars seem to be a good point to separate early- and late-Copper
  18. I'll add it to the pile. Jerome I thought I was pretty into star wars. Who the eff is this? And why does he wear a zip up track jacket? From the Cantina. There were a few figures of cantina characters that didn't actually do anything in the movie. Hammerhead was another. Not sure why some got chosen to be figures and others didn't. Kinda like some of the droid figures that were just kinda there.
  19. Hey ............. why does Angel have a bazooka ? Thats an excellent question Considering the lines around Angel's feet, it seems to me that Magneto is chucking that bit of metal at him, and he is falling back. If we're going to be critical about SA Marvel, what's with the ropes on the cover of FF #1?
  20. I think the shift to speculating on first appearances occurred long before CGC. A few observations; granted this is just limited to what I saw as a comic collector, but I don't think it's outside of common experience • Any time a new Valiant character popped up, there was a rush to get the first appearance. I don't remember this happening pre-Unity (as the books hit the shelves), but it certainly happened post-Unity in my area, with Bloodhot, Ninjak, Dr. Mirage, and perhaps some other characters. • First appearances of established characters that no one really cared about had a bit of an upswing in case they became characters people cared about. Marvel reprinting the first appearances of Morbius and Silver Sable seems to be an indication of this. • Both Marvel and DC devoted their annuals to the introduction to new characters one year (maybe not the same year; I forget, but certainly in a close time frame). This would seem to suggest that there was some recognition from a sales perspective that the introduction of new characters were selling. • Looking at my personal collection, I only have one of the books that preceded the Death of Superman storyline in any of the titles (most titles there is at least three issues between the previous issue owned), but I own all of the cameo issues, including 7 copies of MoS 17, and all of the books that I own are from when they came out (i.e. I didn't pick up any after the fact). I think Wizard was a big influence in changing the mindset of the average collector. Not sure exactly where the shift happened on the first appearance thing, but at the latest it was somewhere in the early-mid '90s.
  21. Just pointing out that if selling, the pool of potential buyers, and the ultimate price paid, might be worth the price to slab even something that's one of a kind, since buyers might value that third-party verification of legitimacy. Moot question since you're not selling, but something to keep in mind if your mind changes.
