  1. This Mile High order from a few years back is looking better and better. I submitted that "VeryGood" copy of Vengeance #1 with the 2 NearMints I ordered from them and they came back 9.4, 9.6, and 9.8.
  2. No, they're not mostly reprints. That was common box art for a time for new books.
  3. I imagine it's more because the shape of the letters is defined by the drop shadow, as the color of the letters and the background are both white. Much like a tombstone, where everything is the same color but you can identify the letters based on how light falls on it
  4. Maybe there's a Shadowman movie moving forward as well. Darque would be the natural choice for the big bad.
  5. Guessing that someone knows something about movie plans moving forward.
  6. If you do send in the book to be graded, DON'T send the COA. It won't make a difference in the grading process, and you might not get the COA back. Hold onto it, and then keep it with the graded book once you get it back.
  7. If it does, the person that bought that issue from me in a lot that also included the first Toxic Avenger and Sleepwalker preview is going to be very happy.
  8. The limit of free listings used to be a lot fewer for a regular eBay account. Having multiple accounts allows a seller to multiply that limit by the number of accounts. Considering the way divad sells (listing books as an auction with a high opening bid) means you have a ton of listings that sit there until a buyer comes along willing to pay the high price, so you need those extra free listings. The fact that most of his auctions only have one bid suggests there's not shill bidding going on.
  9. I'm guessing that a good chunk of it is people joking about it being a good buy (because for so long that was a pretty big speculation fail), and newer collectors taking the jokes seriously, which pushed up prices. But then also there have been rumors that he was going to show up in the MCU, and now of course there's a new Darkhawk coming along that might spur some interest.
  10. Rather than adapting comic books, they're going to start adapting graded comic books.
  11. Books with low census counts that don't explode in value typically aren't desirable books… which is why they have low census counts. Regarding Marvel Age 97 vs. Darkhawk 1, the issue isn't how many were printed, it's how many survive in high grade. I picked up both books new. I never bagged my issues of Marvel Age because it's not a comic; it's a news magazine. I think a lot of other collectors treated the books the same way, which is why it is much tougher to find Marvel Age in high grade. Action Comics #1 had a print run that was multiple times of both of these books combined. That doesn't matter, because the only factor now is how many are still available, and the condition that they survived in.
  12. You *want* a Passive, or have one to trade? I have extra Aggressives to trade.
  13. Funny. That was the *last* Spider-man storyline I bought, as they effectively wiped out Spider-man continuity since I started collecting in the late '80s
  14. To clarify, all second prints, third prints, etc. would be reprints, but not all reprints qualify as a sequential print
  15. Ah. I generally consider those reprints rather than second prints. People may not see a difference, but when I think "second print" I think "we didn't print enough copies to satisfy initial demand," and when I think reprint, I think "we want to publish this story for a reason other than normal monthly distribution of a comic.
  16. I'm in the same boat. I should actually have 4 Agressives total. On Wednesday I went out and picked up one from each of the 2 Midtown Comics in midtown. I also ordered one from them online, and I haven't picked up the one I pre-ordered (I figured I wouldn't be able to buy one from the store if I picked up my pre-order.) I pre-ordered all of the Final Five from a few different online retailers (but I forget the location of all of them, so not sure what the east/west breakdown is). But as far as I know, I'm only getting a sticker from one. They're in Utah, so it should be a Passive version. I'll find out when I get it and the sticker this week. I plan on sending in one sticker for another Passive.
  17. Hero Trade: Passive/Aggressive is selling well. Every Bad Idea destination store that I've checked online is sold out.
  18. Variants are typically defined as the same comic with different covers. These are 2 different comics.
  19. Back when Jim Hanley's Universe in Manhattan was reorganizing their store, and clearing out their back issues (I suppose because eBay meant using that retail space for back issues was no longer financially prudent), they had a big progressive sale where everything was 10% off the first day, 20% off the second day, etc, until everything was 90% off the sticker price. During this sale I picked up Batman 635 for less than cover price (which surprised me, because I wouldn't have expected it to still be there a few days into the sale, and I missed it when it was new, because it was hot out of the gate). It's at CGC now.
  20. Also, CGC doesn't "rule" on anything except for grade. They're the experts in the condition of a collectible. Adding notes on the label is more of a courtesy, if they can verify that the note to be added to a label is accurate. Sometimes they screw that up.
  21. Liefeld's intention is to rake in as much money in signatures fees as possible. X-Force 8 is the clear winner here, regardless of what he says. Or New Mutants 98, since that's where the Domino design was established. (But he already has tons of people paying him money to sign that book.) It's clear, if you ever read a book that Rob wrote, that he doesn't give much thought to things like plot. He just goes with whatever he thinks is cool.
  22. Intent as to what? It's the intent of the company to sell as many books as possible. It's the intent of the creative team to create an interesting comic that people will want to buy. One can see it however one wants, but seeing it a certain way doesn't make that the truth. The preview is part of a story, not its own little story; for the full story you have to get the comic. Marvel Age was not a collection of short stories. You're confusing that will anthology publications like Marvel Comics Presents, which contained multiple stories.
  23. wanner2060 Another non-paying buyer. Won the auction, didn't pay, ignored the follow up invoice, and never bothered to communicate.
