  1. There was a comparable situation with Acclaim's Unity 2000. If I remember correctly, they initially produced 2 covers, the regular version and a Dynamic Forces exclusive. But somehow the covers got swapped and the exclusive ended up with the regualr cover, and the regular cover with the exclusive art. And since the regular art was part 1 of a connecting cover, you only had that art if you had the exclusive. So they printed the cover only and shipped it with issue 2, part 2 of the connecting cover. However it was distributed, there *are* graded copies of the cover only: https://www.cgccomics.com/census/grades_standard.asp?title=Unity+2000&publisher=Acclaim&issue=1&year=1999&issuedate=11%2F99
  2. I may need to scour the background in the latest episode of Loki for any easter eggs. Inclusion here probably means we're never going to see it again in the MCU. Not that we were ever going to see the Thanoscopter in a full story, but that tiny blip is probably all we'll ever see of Throg.
  3. I know if I book a vacation, I'll definitely be contacting CGC so I don't miss any books shipping back.
  4. Just noticed them updated TATs. Modern: 116 days for grading and 142 for pressing. 258 days = 51.6 weeks, if figuring on 5 business days per week. Add in holidays and that's over a year. Add another 8 weeks for them to get in the system. I'm going to waiting a while fo the books I'm submitting before my membership expires.
  5. Iron Man was one of only a few Marvel characters to have a consistently published monthly title since the '60s. Spider-man, Captain America, and the Hulk were the only other characters in that group that you probably can't argue were less popular than Iron Man (although since the movies, Hulk may have slipped slightly below). The only other character in that category is Daredevil. Change it to "since the '80s" and you're only adding Wolverine to the group. (Thor had a hiatus during Heroes Reborn.)
  6. The next phase obviously has to step things back a bit after Endgame. If you keep on upping the stakes of the action then that doesn't leave a ton of room for character development.
  7. I got a shipment of accumulated books from Impulse this week. The box ended up being dinged up a book but all books were in good shape, bubble wrapped inside.
  8. But really, how likely are you to see it for a dollar? Stores that didn't sell out had to send them back… unless they didn't. People that bought them probably know what they have. You'll probably find it for only a dollar if people stop caring about Bad Idea and they become legit dollar bin books.
  9. Unless a writer is also a collector, they probably don't care what book is considered the first appearance of a character. Also, a flashback is a narrative device meant to fill in some information for the story being told. 266 isn't told as if the point is to fill in the missing info you need to understand and enjoy the Annual as a complete work.
  10. I think they announced a Whalesville reprint. I assume that they were more prepared for what to expect in regards to orders after Eniac #1, so subsequently stuff hasn't sold out
  11. Pricing NFPs at $10 seems silly, since there are plenty of retailers that will still offer them for cover. Even if you have to buy online, if you buy a few books and combine shipping, it's going to be cheaper than buying it for $10.
  12. From the start. I pre-ordered 3 copies from DCBS (partially because of the print run) and found out yesterday that they couldn't fill any of the order.
  13. Yeah, that'll happen when they limit the print run to 2500 and they get orders for over 40K.
  14. Potentially two different things, yes.
  15. Seriously. I'm just pointing out what has actually been said vs. how people have interpreted what they said.
  16. Yes. I agree that your "average joe" might interpret it as if they are closing down, but that's not what they stated. I think that they were probably careful in choosing their language when they wrote "Bad Idea as we know it must end," since it conveys that possibility, but could also be interpreted as what I think is going to happen, which is that there will a metamorphosis into something else. I doubt we'll see them cease producing comics. I could be wrong. I don't have any inside knowledge. But from what I can tell, they've been successful with what they've produced so far, and I know the people involved love comics.
  17. They did not state that they were closing down.
  18. What are you considering "a lot"? I don't have any inside info, but I'm assuming that when Dinesh got ousted from Valiant, that entailed some buyout, and whatever that was is the primary source of funding for the Bad Idea launch. I know people involved with Bad Idea have ties to a production company, but I believe that's a completely separate entity.
  19. Agreed. And there are a few shops that will hold the books and ship when you request them to ship, so you're not paying for shipping on each individual book.
  20. I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding is that an option is basically just temporary (usually a year, but potentially renewable) exclusive right to develop an IP. That's usually going to mean getting a first draft of a -script and shopping it around Hollywood to try to get people with money or people with name recognition and influence interested enough to get the ball rolling. Tons of stuff gets stuck in development hell because all of the pieces don't come together.
