  1. They never announced that they were "ending production"
  2. I'll typically order 5 of any new Image #1, but I only picked up one; figured there's little chance a book with animals is going to be adapted.
  3. You're passing on the Giorello books?
  4. Considering how easy it would be to turn that into cosplay, I imagine we're going to be seeing a ton of variants at conventions.
  5. Can you expand on the "refused to give me my refund"? Was there communication between the two of you?
  6. A lot of the early Image books did. I think it was one of the standard typefaces that came on a Mac back then. It was a popular choice on the covers of the typographical monstrosity mutant mini-series in the '90s as well.
  7. Gotham is great. I liked Copperplate, but got tired of it after seeing it everywhere. And yeah, Lithos was everywhere too in the '90s (Note the Gen13 cover; Marvel used it a bit too)
  8. Not sure if this was specifically true for blocky typefaces at the time, but there are definitely font trends. About 15 years ago, Copperplate Gothic was used everywhere. More recently, you couldn't look at more than a few type treatments without seeing Gotham.
  9. Books 4: Hero Trade: Passive/Aggressive
  10. I read somewhere that Spidey editor Jim Salicrup didn't want to oversaturate the Spidey books with Venom, so they basically kept him for special occasions. Keep in mind too that McFarlane wrote the book, and was new to writing, so he may have had some ideas for stories floating around and developing in his head for far longer than Venom had been around, so it may have been less of a challenge to bring those ideas forth.
  11. It is almost certainly their latest marketing push.
  12. Bad Idea is over, but looks like they're going out with a bang. Book 1: Monster Kill Squad:
  13. Granted print runs in the '90s generally were much higher than they are today, but I don't know that I'd call this one "high-printed"; Thor wasn't particularly popular at that point and annuals in general weren't as popular as books in the regular run of a title. I know the 1993 Marvel annuals had the same gimmick of a new character in every issue, but I don't remember anyone discussing speculating on this book back then – it was pretty much all about the X-books at that point.
  14. I don't know if you were around for the speculator boom of the '90s, but the "common sense spec books" like X-Men #1 and Superman #75 took forever to be worth more than cover price (and still haven't gained much when you factor in inflation), and others, like Turok #1, will probably never be worth the purchase price.
  15. If you live in Washington, the Comics Place is starting pre-orders at midnight. https://shop.thecomicsplace.com/products/bad-idea-final-five?variant=40079997501590
  16. If you arbitrarily say your Dazzler #9 is worth a million dollars, expect to pay the premium to insure a million dollar book, but also don't be surprised if you go to make a claim and the insurance company just buys another Dazzler 9 to replace the book for you rather than make the payout.
  17. After the previous issue of Venom, I was expecting this issue to be a key for whatever is happening with Flash Thompson.
  18. Definitely got a heavy Douglas Adams vibe during the first half or so of the episode. I'm liking it so far,
