89 comics so far this year.

Kill Lock Vol. 1: I'm a big fan of the author/illustrator. He does great Transformers and Star Wars art (among other things), but I've never read anything that he's written. I was pleasantly surprised by the story. Basically a society of robots. Different classes of robots do different jobs. When robots severely break laws, four robots get "kill locked" together, meaning if one dies, they all die. How do they handle that punishment? There are a few minor things that I didn't like (e.g., robots consuming alcohol doesn't make sense to me), but the overall story was very enjoyable and the art was terrific. I recommend this TPB. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

    1. Not liking BBQ is unamerican

    2. next time try Joes Kansas City (formerly Oklahoma Joes), I'd recommend the original location. There is just something about getting BBQ at a gas station. I remember when I lived there if someone in our friend group got a week day off work they had to go and wait in line to get it for everyone.

The big reason I dont like BBQ is the price you pay. You get very little.

I want to leave a place feeling like I got my moneys worth and full. Most BBQ Im hungry in an hour.

My cousin worked for a big BBQ place here in St Louis and swears the price is justified but I dont buy it. Throw rub on a piece of meat and put it in a smoker and walk away for 12+ hours…ooooohhhhh the man hours.

Don cracks me up. To be clear, I have tons of respect for his work, and love his comics, but he is such a crank, it's hilarious. I'm sure that he was getting a lot of questions that he found annoying about Duck Tales, since he's such a fanatical stickler about the holy texts of Carl Barks. But still, the fact that he decided to make a sign telling people that "THIS IS NOT DUCK TALES" rather than just saying "Uh, yeah...it's Duck Tales...and prints are only $20" is really something. Take the money and run, Don!

I’ve seen Don Rosa set up in Chicago and planet comicon before and he has always had that sign about “this is not ducktails“

Thanks for the pics. I didn't get to go this year. Looks like a good show. I usually go and rummage through Dale's and Harlee's boxes. Also I have found lots of great 3 and 5 dollar boxes at that con. Hopefully next year!

Harley and Dale we’re not there this year.

I'm glad you got some KC BBQ! I've heard that you can get some good BBQ in St. Louis by hopping on I-70 West and driving until your radio picks up Kansas City stations. As soon as that happens, take the next exit and whatever BBQ place you find is the best BBQ in St. Louis

St Louis has a few good places for BBQ

    Pappys

    and

    Sugarfire

Those are what a lot of people talk about.

    I still like your joke.

Great report.  I live two and a half hours away and went two years ago on a Sunday. Going the last day and bringing cash you can get some decent deals. I thought about going this year all the way up until a couple days before it started and talked myself out of it. The $50ish price tag for the last day is kind of high imo.

Looks like there was more comic dealers this year then when I went in 2021 which makes me wish I went lol
I see Dave from Krypton Comics in one of the dealer pics. That’s my “Home” LCS. Good people.

I bought the Batman from Kypton comics.

Also I had another friend that went on Friday and the Friday ticket was only $45. I don’t understand how they’re getting these prices. I know me and my friend paid those prices, but that is too high for that show.

I wish I could have made it, But I never know if I'm gonna get much free time this time of year. I ended up going to the Springfield Mo. con last month.............1 booth of comics and another that had some comics but mostly toys......... Waste of a day, lol.

Sorry to hear that! Was it Rubblecon…? Is that still a thing?

Sweet so the cost to you was $55 for one day. Did it live up to your expectations. Its looks like there were alot of dealers from your pics.
How many would estimate were there? Ive been to Chicago and STL many times, but never KC.

$55 for a Sunday (10-5 shorten times) Ticket $70 for Saturday or $110? for a 3 day. 20+ dealers-ish. Some pics of the dealers took 2-3  to get their wall. Plus a ton more vendors that sold toys, funkco, Candy, and anything pop culture.  Ive been to this show 4-5 times and it is a good show that can be done in 1 day. Meaning you can see it all and do some shopping. C2E2 is a 2 day show to see it all. That by no means mean its not worth going.

As to meeting expectations I never have any going to this show, my friend and I had fun and thats all that matters in the end.  Ive only been to this show with friends so Ive not been alone, not like when I went to your show or C2E2then Im by myself.

Also there is a nice show called Quad con coming to St Charles (30 outside STL) on this Sunday March 26. It is a good small show 5-10 comic dealers 40+ dealers of pop culture items. PM me if you want more info

I love this show but I hate how expensive it is. Almost $70 for a Saturday pass after taxes and online fees.

Other than that, I had a great time. Lots of people wearing Mandalorian armor.

I agree about prices for this show! They seem over priced. Tell us more! what did you get if anything?
