FYI - for those possibly bidding on the CSS 22 on eBay, it has four staples and isn’t mentioned in the description.
Don’t know if manufactured like that or added after. Also don’t know where the other two come into play; I see two on the front cover, four at the centerfold, none on the back cover, and nothing noticeable on the spine.
Just saw the book and it looks funny, Trimmed maybe? The insides look small than the cover by a little bit...I dont know if this seller is bad because I got a Vault of horror 25 last year from this seller. Had no problems.

24 graded copies. I don't follow the series, so I'm not watching for sales, but there are several copies available on feebay right now. Perhaps it's simply "uncommon".
I saw the listed ones and the prices were pretty high. But that doesn’t mean anything.
Uncommon seems like the right answer, Thanks!

Is it CGC graded, or raw? Want to spill a link to it?
Saw it at a local show, its raw 2 chunks out of the front cover and the cover is split and 1 staple detached...if I remember correctly. I put it at a 1.5 - 1.8 sorry no link...do you want/need it?

I normally attribute HTF comics in the current day as not having been big sellers when they came out. Totally unscientific I know, just my gut feeling.
IDK what horror covers Woody did. You could go to the Grand Comic Database to find out though.
Funny thing is, I just bought a second copy of this issue in a bit better (I hope) condition, so I might offer this one FS when I get the other one in.
Im interested in the under copy...

I full transparency Im looking at buying this book and would like to see what people think it is.
There are no hidden flaws, staples are attached and so is the centerfold pages look off white. I dont like the "spots" (they are not color touch) that are shown on the side angle pics, and the foxing.
I think its a
Spoiler3.0
Thanks for the help.

What is the consensus about Eerie 11 (Avon) Rare or Scarce? A dealer has had it for a year and hasn't been able to sell it (because of the $300 price tag but offers a standard 20% off so $240) I have interest but the book is a 1.5 - 1.8 at best.
Any info/help welcomed!

I love this book. I hesitated on a 5.5 some time ago and have regretted it ever since.
I did manage to get a really nice 1.5 for consolation. For comparison I've included a 1.5 up now on ebay in the spoiler box.
Mine is way better I think.
I think both of ours (1.5) present much better.
Congrats on your copy!- Paul © ® ⚽️💙™ and comicjack

As previously stated, that is NOT an L.B. Cole cover. He drew -I think exclusively- for his Star Publications.
AFA should you get the Whiz Comics issue, it's strictly a personal decision. You don't have to conform to any standard as a PCH collector. I have some unrelated to horror books just for the cover, some just for one story, etc. If it peaked your interest, then maybe "scratch the itch", LOL!
Ive been taking to a friend about it and he said the same thing and gave me some prices on the book (whiz 154) plus I called the owner of the book and he will bring it to next weeks show and said he'd honor his offer price if it doesn't sell in his store by then.
I guess I didn't know anything about it and was curious as to what the story around it was if anything.
Thanks

Definitely not LB Cole. He didn't do draw anything for Nedor/Standard. Most likely it's Sekowsky, which is what GCD also notes.
I didn't challenge him on it but thats what I thought.
Do you have any thoughts or opinions on the Whiz 154?

Two years ago I saw this book at a local shop and didn't pick it up because of the $300 price tag. But today at a local show I found it at a different dealers booth with the original price tag of $300. The guy said he could work with me and offered it for $150 ( I went to his booth because a friend said it was offered to him for $150 but passed) so I asked to take the book out, he did and once I opened the book (cover detached and 90% split) he said $125, so I finished counting pages and made a lower offer and he took it.
Ive always liked the cover but this title seems like its always going up. He also told me that it was a L.B.Cole cover? It looks nothing like a Cole cover to me.
I did pass on a book that has peaked my interest. Its Whiz Comics 154. Theres 20 blue CGC, none on or finished on ebay and OSPG says "Scarce"? and its first Doctor Death in this title and has hanging panels. Thats all I know.
I know the dealer so I can still get the book. My question is since Im a PCH fan like most here should it be in my collection, is it really a "scarce" book? Why would you want to own it?

Today's book. Last issue I needed for the Shock Suspenstories run, although even by my low standards I would like to upgrade my #5. The #5 is getting trickier these days, though, so I'm very glad I snagged my filler copy when I did.
Next project: See how much headway I can make on Weird Science & Weird Fantasy. And maybe even look for a few more pre-trend books.
Glad to see it Eric! Congrats!

Thanks for the knowledge and thoughts on this subject! Ive always seen sellers say "rare or scarce" in listing and didn't really know what to think about it. There are so many books Ive never seen so my limited knowledge won't help me.
For the record I never thought or was claiming that ether of the 2 books I listed where "rare/scarce"
