  1. Yikes. I guess my run is going into mylar when I get home.
  2. Nothing politically correct about GA covers...one of the things I like most about them.
  3. I've got your #27 on my watch list. Curious what a slight(p) with no reserve will go for.
  4. Sadly, I've sold mine off over the years. Off the top of my head, I've had 26, 40, 44, 56, 62, 63, 71, 79, 80, 83, 84, 91, 94-96. 98, 107-109, 124, & 128. Wouldn't mind having a few of those back. Especially the #26.
  5. Sold for just under 2K to gijoed, whoever that is. It's a gamble at that price, but if that inner cover graded out at 9.4, he could quadruple his money.
  6. I used to own a Batman #31 double cover, and both covers were beautiful. Should've kept that one.
  7. I've seen a Superman #12 double cover, but I'm sure there are earlier examples. I think what is comes down to on the Batman #18 is whether the winning bidder is a double cover collector, or a high grade collector. I think a high grade collector will want it certified, and would rather see the inner cover through that slab than the crappy outer cover. This auction is garnering some pretty high bids considering the back of the inner cover isn't even pictured. The front cover looks great, but pictures and scans can be deceiving. If that IS water damage on the outer cover, i'd be concerned about how that might also have affected the inner cover.
  8. It seems to me that in most cases with a double cover, there isn't such a vast difference in grade between the inside and outside cover. It's difficult to tell from the scan, but if the back cover is as nice as the front on the inside cover, it could be 9.0+. The outside cover has what might be water damage on the fc, bringing the grade way down to maybe 3.0. I don't think the premium on on a double cover would be any higher than a Batman #18 in 9.0+, which carries a heavy premium all by itself.
  9. The top staple is not detached. But the outside cover is pretty ugly, and I don't see someone hiding that nice interior cover in a slab.
  10. I bet the next time we see this book, the outer cover will be gone... linky
  11. Well, this is turning into a great thread. Good work!
  12. Hey West, I remember writing a letter to the editor in response to your list with four additional Hitler covers, one of which was Real Life #3. Gary was kind enough to print pictures of the covers I mentioned along with my letter. I can not for the life of me find that issue, although I know I have it somewhere. Do you happen to remember my letter, and what issue it was in? I'm wracking my brain here.
  13. West, you've got enough info about Timelys in that noggin of yours to write a book. I wonder if you'll put pen to paper someday?
  14. I wonder if DTA's price on his copy of NA #26 will remain the same, or suddenly go on sale now that it's no longer "the last copy needed to complete a DC collection."
  15. Thanks to Deathlok for the fastest payment in the West. I received payment via Paypal faster then I could email him his total. I hope you like the books!
  16. That row of early Detectives is awesome. If I ever had more disposable income, I'm going to hunt those down.
  17. And, in one of my more brilliant moves, I told him exactly why it couldn't be a Church book.
