  1. Thanks for the update. Sounds like I'm not missing much.
  2. Deathlok, how was the Shrine show? I haven't been to one in years.
  3. No, I took a look at the Church copy in San Diego last year, but I was about $8500 short of the $9500 price tag. In my opinion, that book is much easier to find than the three books posted above.
  4. I can only relate my personal experience with a few books. 10+ years ago, when Joe Rainone(whatever happened to him?) was selling the Charles Strong collection of Nedors, I purchased three books based solely on their Gerber Scarcity index. They were Exciting #30, Fighting Yank #5, and Thrililng #33. I don't have my Gerber in front of me, but I believe all three had a GSI of 8(one of them may have been a 7). All these years later, the Exciting #30 and Thrilling #33 remain not only the highest graded copies, but the only graded copies of each book. The Fighting Yank is one of two graded. These books just never come up.
  5. This has always been my favorite article from any issue of CBM, and the epilogue is very cool. Jon, did Larson express any interest in seeing his old comics again? I only have one Larson book, but your article makes me treasure it that much more.
  6. I came VERY close to buying that book off CL. Very reasonable price, I thought.
  7. Since all the books came from the same drugstore, and were ALL stamped, ( not just the GR books.but every book that the store sold). Is the only way then to verify a real GR book is to have the books bill of sale history? , or have a person attest to the books purchase/ origin? And compare it to the pdf list, see if it matches up with what was known to be an original GR book? I am sure there are not that many HG comics from that store still floating around.. but you would think there would be a few. And would they not have the same tuesday RED date stamp placement also? Does that make sense? Ze- The same question could be asked about any pedigree that has unique markings, including the Church books. Other books purchased at the same location might appear occasionally, but it's a testament to how rare it is for an individual to preserve a large collection for a long period of time that it doesn't happen more often.
  8. How about a third column to the table with board members websites? Just a thought...
  9. Crooked(sp?) Label Syndrome? A major pet peeve of mine. Figured it deserved a syndrome.
  10. So that's what "on" means on my Thrilling 11. I've often wondered. Thanks, Jon!

    Uh-oh...

Are you insane? We don't let mothers near our comics. THEY THROW THEM AWAY!
  12. Major kudos to Bronty for the very cool Batman #227 VF raw. I've wanted that book for a long time!
  13. I buy vintage postcards of my town, Newport Beach, Cal. If anyone's interested, take a look at www.newportbeachpostcards.com.
  14. Thanks for posting the Speeds! They're both great covers, and you're right about them looking like Timelys.
  15. Thanks and kudos to BassGman for selling me the first chunk of Bolland Wonder Woman covers I need. Ten down, twenty-six to go! Thanks, Sid.
  16. About 20 years ago, I was offered the Church copy of Batman #20 for $600, but couldn't come up with the cash.
  17. Sweet book. It does look nice. If all 9.0s looked like this, I would have no need of 9.2s and above.
  18. Many thanks to Steve, AKA 143KSK, for seeing in my sig-line that I needed Miracleman #20, and just sent it to me. Wouldn't take a dime, not even for postage. A true gentleman and scholar. THANKS!
