  1. That link is 3 months old, the latest update indicates W 3 will be a (loose) adaptation of OML.
  2. Wolverine 3 plot confirmed as Old Man Logan storyline Or: I was right. Y'all haters can suck it. ::
  3. Yeah, that's why all of the raws I have (like 2 copies of Nyx 4) get stockpiled in short boxes, intil I press and sub them. I don't even bother listing raws on eBay, if it's not worth slabbing , I'd rather sell/sacrifice a $30 book out of my $10 boxes at shows. Check GPA on 4,5,6.....a 6 sold for $375 in 9.8 this past month. I sold a slabbed 5 in 9.8 for about $250 via BIN 2 months back. Far as the market observation, yeah.Spot on. I was set up at Eternal Con and had a guy at my booth who I recognized as a buyer for a New Suicide Squad 1 that I had graded at 9.6, from last year's Eternal Con...he told me that I had a 9.6 on the book, my assigned grade...and that he had it slabbed , got a CGC 9.8 out of it. Presto, a $125 book. Oh, he also didn't buy anything else from me, either...ugh. Not to say that CGC is grading loose or anything like that, because they are not.
  4. Show your math for this please. Just because you can press a book doesn't mean its worth while. Show all costs you will have to pay. OK ASM 129 CGC 8.0 Paid $956 Expected grade 8.5 Last sale $1200 90 day average $1075 Costs of cpr Shipping $30 Pressing $15 Grading $75 Total 956+30+15+75 = 1076 which is 1 dollar over the 90 gpa average of a 8.5 Expected value 1200 Now I would take the expected value and take it away from how much everything cost me 1200-1075 = $125 profit Does the cost of grading above (75$) include return shipping to Canada? Selling for 1200 =/= (does not equal 1200 in your PayPal, but rather 1153.20 at 3.9% fee). Gabe your presser may tell you he can get you a bump but what happens if it stays an 8.0? What happens if drops are you financially safe to lose another 150 for an 8.0 or like 350 if it drops to a 7.5? I would have to check again as I believe he would cover the difference should that happen. The 75 would cover shipping and the return cost to Canada. Would I be able to handle the financial loss? I would but I wouldn't like it. CGC's base rate for return shipping to Canada is via FedEx international @ $60 USD. You can't grade this book for $15. What grading tier are you planning to submit this book under? Economy? I don't think that will fly with CGC but you can try...mean it has to go standard which is $53 with a 20% dealer discount (do you get the 20% discount?). Leaving you with $22 for return shipping...Not sure that's possible. I would submit this comic under the standard tier which is $60 usd and though I'm not a dealer the presser I would use has a 20% discount and it's been a while since I used cgc but I know there's a cheaper shipping option I'll check my invoices as the closest comparable would be my ba12 cgc 9.6 If you're flipping books, you should know all of the costs involved with pressing & grading like the back of your hand. You should also know that a presser has no control over CGC's grading and as such, will not "cover the difference" if a book drops in grade after it is re-subbed. The only conceivable way a presser in his right mind would cover a drop in grade is if he damaged the book, while working on it, or while the book was in his possession. Books that have been CPR'd by competent pressers rarely drop in grade, however they do, on some occasions...be it a change in grading standards since the book was originally graded or something along those lines. As if all of this wasn't ridiculous in the first place....you do realize that no competent presser will press a book with a FMV of around $1000 for fifteen bucks, without a lag time of several months? I would not touch this book for less than $50, but that's besides the point. CCS charges $60 for pressing books of this sort of FMV, with an actual turn around time of about one month. The best case scenario is that you ship this slab to your presser...after paying over $100 (or more), you are able to sell this book for a profit of less than $100....if you get an 8.5 Assuming the book is actually a good pressing candidate...overlooking the fact you bought it off eBay and were not able to see subtle bends etc up close/in hand...even then, you have to have a very good eye (and understand the mechanics of paper, humidification, heat and pressure) to see pressable defects. Even if you have such a good eye, it is hard to tell the extent of such defects when the book is encapsulated. By some strange feat of luck and beating the lofty odds involved with this CPR project of yours, let's say that you get back an 8.5. That will take about 4 months of having a $1000 tied up, to make a profit of about fifty bucks. ....and that is if you are lucky, and you don't get back an 8.0...or a 7.5.
  5. Males aged 10-25 are probably the core Deadpool fan base.Based on the appeal/humor of the character, most are likely around 13-17 years old. Most 15 year old's can't afford a slabbed 9.8 NM 98. So they'll buy a raw VG+ to VF for $200 to $300. Just like any big copper age key book, it is worth 2-3 bills in mid grade, just because collectors who can't afford to drop a grand (or 2 grand for a BA 12) in 9.8. As the second movie comes closer, the prices on this book will spike again...probably ending up around $800-$1200.....averaging around what they were selling at before the 1st Deadpool movie came out. They'll probably dip down after the 2nd movie, intil a 3rd movie comes out.Rinse and repeat with a slow but steady appreciation overall, after each time Deadpool is featured in a movie. As the core audience gets older, the book becomes more affordable to them in 9.8...meanwhile Deadpool continues to gain popularity and media exposure, over the next few years. 3 years time, I think that you won't be able to buy a CGC 9.8 for less than $1000...with the spread on 9.8 sales being $1000 to $1500. This is why I mostly stick to buying/selling copper age books.
  6. Wow, you're not kidding. I bought one from C-Link not that long ago for $250 and thought I overpaid. Is this because of Rosario Dawson's role in Daredevil? Or are there other rumors? Night Nurse has always been a tough book in grade, it's appreciated with every sale in GPA, across the board, over the years. Dunno of any other rumors, didn't even know of this rumor intil I saw this post. I had a 9.8 copy of the 2015 Night Nurse #1 in my $5 boxes at a show last month, guess I shoulda pulled it. Some wankjob has a CGC 9.8 (2015) listed at a $499 BIN on eBay...gotta love the nerve of some people. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIGHT-NURSE-1-CGC-9-8-CULT-CLASSIC-MINISERIES-SOLD-OUT-FIRST-PRINT-/191798397486?hash=item2ca8134a2e:g:UIQAAOSwqv9V6ii0 That said.... Comics4less auctioned off a raw 7.0 copy at $242.50 2 months back, so a slabbed 9.2 at $700 sounds about right to me... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Night-Nurse-1-1st-Linda-Carter-Fine-VF-Cond-/142036354918?hash=item211206c766%3Ag%3Ak98AAOSwzJ5Xboi5&nma=true&si=5SXDnvVqUluJPTZlasJ7VqrZ3AY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  7. Of course there is money to be made by capitalizing off of shop owners/ con dealers' ignorance. However, you have to know the market in the first place to do this with any measure of success. After reading a couple pages of this thread, Gabe does not have the first notion of how to go about making the judgement calls needed to play this angle. To suggest any of this to Gabe is doing the kid a huge disservice. It is complete lunacy for Gabe to continue onward as a comic dealer. Gabe needs to follow the Wall-Crawlers advice, completely.Everything that he said, Gabe needs to do. That said, this thread should be closed by a moderator. Ridiculous. This is his journal, he wants to do it. None of us have to read it or respond. It may be his journal, but it is not his board. When talk in threads becomes unproductive, moderators close threads. As they should. Gabe clearly needs professional help, as Wall-Crawler said. There really is nothing else to be said.Going on any further only serves to fuel Gabe's disordered and far from linear thinking.
  8. I have no opinion on the matter, but I would have bet any amount of money on that. Yeah, I saw that reference about Gabe posting die hard right wing videos on his youtube page, going all out for Trump....and the sentiments expressed by you two were exactly what came to my mind. The Trump stuff is just icing on the insufficiently_thoughtful_person cake, which I just let slide because talking sense to this kid....as evidenced by the sheer volume of attempts made by others in this thread, is on par with screaming into the wind.

  10. Bosco, you're the man. If I hadnt seen this post, I wouldnt be about to press a Batman 568 newsstand that I put aside over a year ago...onsite Baltimore here I come....muahahaha. I owe you a beer, kind sir!
  11. Here's a pic of the FC to my TGK 60 pence copy...I snapped a pic of the indicia, too but Photobucket is a pain in the balls and I'm tired. If someone else posts up a pic of the indicia of their cents copy of TGK 60, that'd be helpful.... Two Gun Kid 60 - Pence Copy Here's a shot of a CGC 1.8 TGK 60 cents copy, that I sold a while back.....catch the CGC label notes about "handwritten edition exists blah blah"....all the CGC label notes say the same thing, just like the Overstreet guide. TGK 60 CGC 1.8 Cents Copy To set this straight, I'll dig out my raw TGK 60 cents copy (but probably not til after Baltimore) and will post up a shot of the indicia page from both my pence and cents raw copies.
  12. I have a TGK 60, a 9 pence copy.As well as a TGK 60 12 cent copy. Just checked my 9 pence copy, I'd have to dig for my 12 cents copy but it appears as though the pence copy has exactly the same information given in the indicia as the cents copy. The indicia on my pence copy is located on the inside of the FC, bottom of the page....can't recall if the indicia is printed in that same spot on the inside FC or if it was printed in that area, on the first page. Either way, it all reads the same as a 12 cents copy, right down to the notation that Two Gun Kid is 12 cents per issue. "November 1962 issue"...12 cents in the indicia..." Printed In The USA" ...below all of the rest of that standard stuff is the following, in slightly larger typeset: "SOLE DISTRIBUTORS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM - THORPE & PORTER LTD." The price box has "9d", in place of "12 c".... To me, that indicates both the UK and US versions of the book were printed at the same time. Would cements that to me, beyond just the November 1962 notation in the indicia of my pence copy, is that my pence copy also has a handwritten "60" in the issue number box.Not typeset. All copies that I have seen have a handwritten "60", far as I can see, the number plate wasn't used on any copies. Not sure how Overstreet managed to eff up on that notation in the guide, he even lists 2 different price spreads for this book with the " #60 hand written edition" as having slightly more value than the "typeset 60 version".
  13. Nothing cheesy about this frog Jon sold me a FR copy of Brave & The Bold # 29 last week. He packed it up like a brick and shipped it almost instantly....will definitely buy from again!
  14. All of the "60" in the masthead are hand written. Overstreet notates that "handwritten issue number on cover" exists, and that a typeset version exists, but that is incorrect. Overstreet even lists a slightly higher price spread for the book in its' "handwritten number" version, opposed to its' typeset version...which indicates that the handwritten /error edition would be scarcer than the typeset version.I've looked at every listing for this book that I could find via a Google search...from heritage, CC, CL and ebay listings...all of the listings, the "60" was hand written, not in typeset. I tried to get a label update from CGC on this book, supplied ample supporting evidence, but my request was not replied to FWIW, one would have to think that Stan Lee (as the editor of this book) would have written the "60", on each issue.
  15. Why not just list it high on eBay (as in whatever the GPA high is for a 9.4) and wait til the BIN gets hit?
  16. I see 3 raw copies of Cerebus #1 on eBay right now...which book are you referring to? I've linked the 3 below, the last copy is by a seller I know personally, and I would say that I am fully confident in Anthony's ability to discern fakes of this book (and his right arm man, Connely) as well. I know both of these cats from the east coast convention circuit, and have bought and sold books to Anthony numerous times. I was set up at Terrific Con for 3 days straight this past weekend in CT, right next to Anthony and his crew. I sold a small stack of books to Anthony out of my priced as marked box, Connely was the one who pulled the books and made the deal with me as Anthony was manning his table. Connely and I had a discussion about books and the market in general.Dude is pretty sharp. Cerebus counterfiet #1's came up in the discussion, Connely knew this book very well. That said, I'd suggest trying your luck in the copy listed by Anthony, in this auction style. The opening bid is certainly fair, I'm considering putting in a bid within the last few seconds, but with Baltimore onsite coming up nxt weekend, I have grading fees to cover on about 2 short boxes full of books...... I rarely vouch for other dealers like this, as technically speaking these guys are my "competition" but that doesn't mean too much to me but.... I'd rather give a top of the hat to a boardie on a trustworthy dealer and give credit where credit is due, than be a tight lipped hard arse. Side note: I still get a bit salty when I think about selling Anthony a raw and unpressed copy of FF 45 a bit over 2 years ago, at a small show I did one time (and one time only) in northern NJ. The book was a sold VG/FN, could've been pressed into a 6.5, easy.If not 7.0. Anthony pulled a stack of my partner's books, including his raw copy of FF 45 along with my FF 45 off our wall.....and my partner blurted out something inordinately stupid like "yeah, we'll take x amount for the stack". This worked out to something like $50 for my raw mid grade FF 45 , basically what I had paid for the book (and I'll never get the chance to pay that low for an FF 45 again) and the rest of the sale went to my partner. I think I had like $100 on the book and didn't want to budge off that price....I couldn't believe it when my partner blew out my book like that. Cerebus #1-300 with #1 COUNTERFEIT (seller disclosed this in description) Cerebus 1 BIN mid grade by seller I never heard of but offers 14 day returns and has tons of positive feedback Not sure if this book is legit or not, but if purchased and you were unsure, the seller would accept a return within 14 days. Cerebus 1 Auction mid grade Sim signed -listed by Anthony's Comic Book Art Same deal with returns, 14 days. The description notes that the Dave Sims signature has been verified as authentic and that there is some color touch on the book. The CT could be removed and the book pressed by Joey/CFP Comics with the sig verified for a Voldemort verified Signature red label... Or as the signature is on the interior of the book and has no effect on the grade, the CT could be removed by by Joey or CCS and then graded by CGC for an unrestored Universal label. For the record, I have no horse in this race. This book is not a consignment of mine nor did Anthony buy it from me.
  17. I have been hitting 3 of the 5 and Below's in south Jersey (Deptford,Blackwood and Turnersville) damn near daily for the past week, I'm working on a small paver walkway + 3 landing step installation job in Turnersville and these 3 spots are all on my way home from my jobsite.... ... and thus far have snagged a total of 5 copies of UF #4 1:25. ...which is cool, but that represents 6 trips to each shop and actually, it kinda sucks balls as the copies I have found all have color breaking spine ticks. All of them all are 8.0 to 9.0's. None of the 5 copies I have bought will press out better than a 9.2.....maybe 1 will catch a 9.4. I'm still going to each shop every day, though
  18. Doesn't matter, GPA is only a research tool. A lot of people who spend real money on CGC graded books don't even have a GPA subscription.Or know it exists. But yeah, feel free to send me a PM.....sell the book to me for $1500 tomorrow...and I'll turn around and then I'll put it on eBay at $2500 for 3 days.If it doesn't move at $2500 then I'll consign it at $3600
  19. Why, thank you, kind sir....I happen to enjoy many other activities with myself, as well. But that is neither here or there....eh, whatever My suggestion, as you're not in a rush to sell it/don't "need" the money, would be to remove the best offer option and just let the BIN sit at $3600. If someone wants a CGC graded 9.8 copy of this book, yours is the only available CGC 9.8 and it is priced at what the last CGC 9.8 sold for. New case, schmew case. The case clearly has an inner well, it is not the 4/2016 new case version. Since you said you don't have much experience selling books on eBay, I'll offer up the following advice... With a book like this, if/when your BIN is hit or a best offer is accepted and you ship the book to the buyer, you do to have to be weary of mail fraud. I would reject any offer from an eBayer who did not ample positive feedback and the buyer's account would have to be....eh, he'd have to had been around for a while i.e. not a buyer with 10 feedbacks and who had only registered on ebay within the last week or several months. Hell, I'd refund a buyer who hit the BIN price if I wasn't convinced he was on the level...a buyer can always say the item was not as described and send you back a package with the equivalent weight of what the slab & packing material weighed....in about 15 copies of 1990's Playboy magazines.Or anything else he has lying around his house, for that matter.......Paypal might very well decide in his favor on a chargeback and leave you high and dry. I'm careful of who I sell $100 books to on eBay, let alone $3600 books. Personally, I'd just consign the book to Comic Link or Comic Connect. Let them handle the sale via a Buy It Now listing on either one's web site. No risk involved with that approach, you get the benefit of a reputable third party handling the transaction (no work on your end and buyer confidence is as good as can be)... ...and the fees shake out to be virtually identical to what eBay and PP charges...about 13%, all in.
  20. I'm going to guess....Junkdrawer? I know that he had something like 20 slabbed Hulk 181's in his personal collection....and saw that he recently put a slew of them on eBay, auction style.
  21. Just watched a bit of this...noticed that the video had "2,014,094 views" on Youtube. Wouldn;t be surprised if that girl landed a 30K bit part in a movie or a commercial.
  22. There are 2 9.8 sample copies recirded in GPA, both have differnt cert #'s. No idea how many sample slabs of this book exist......could just be these two or x amount more. I'd guess that there would have to be more sample CGC slabs out there. Seems like that's a question best suited for a CGC rep via the Ask CGC subforum.
  23. A CGC 9.6 Hero For Hire 1 popped off a 7 G's via Greg Reece.Double the price for the other CGC 9.6 sales in 2016. I guess that was why my raw VG sold at my $129 BIN on Saturday, after two 30 day cycles had gone by, haha.
  24. When I sold mine last Spring for $3600 it was the 1st 9.8 that popped in a year, so maybe with more copies showing up since then the amount of people who need it and will pay that much already have one. Also, folks could still be wary about the new case. I've passed on books I wanted with the new case because I'm not so sure that CGC got all the bugs fixed yet The new, updated case has an inner well....so yeah, the bugs have been stamped out. This listing has an inner well, the seller does not actually state that but if you look very closely, it is there. He definitely dropped the ball on not stating that fact. But what Lonzilla said is spot on, if a buyer is not confident in CGC's b/c of the 4/2016 holder , that would inspire lower bidding on a given book. Which very well may have been the case with this book. If you can't tell by the pics, look up the cert # and check the grade date.If it was graded after 6/26/2016, the book has an inner well.* *Reference http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9425591#Post9425591 I make a distinct point of stating this in all of my listings, any seller that does not do so is effing up, IMHO. Verily so, ye may gaze in wonderment upon my Nyx 5 9.8 sold listing... The buyer gave me 5 star feedback on this book, FWIW...and I just saw that he emailed me thanking me for giving him the heads up on GPA, which he has now suscribed to. Moving on past my pedantic, self congratulatory wankery.... As far as using reserves, bids falling short of last 9.8 sales in GPA on this ASM 678 MJ variant.... Reserves on auctions IMO create watchers and tire kickers, not much more. If the guy wants any given price for the book, just list the damn thing at the BIN price you want for it.If it is fair, you'll get it.Might take a while, but it'll get hit. I'd put the BIN at $3500 + the cost of insured shipping (ball parked at $50 for US, roughly double that for international buyers) and just wait....eh, I'd actually have this book sold by Comic Link or Comic Connect, not by myself on eBay.The 10% vig is still the same, and CC/CL handle the listing and shipping of the book.If a CC is used to pay for the book on CC or CL, you then have to pay 3% to cover that fee....just as a seller would normally have to do with ebay seller fees at 10% for most sellers and paypal fees for sellers at 2.9%. No reserve price auction funny business.Although RMA is right on about using reserves if the reserve price is stated but a book this big should be brokered by a third party like CC or CL as another thing that may have prohibited this book from selling is that it is a big money book and it's not being offered by a nationally known dealer. Eff proper period usage........ run on sentences in bold typecast FTW.
