  1. That is EXACTLY the role that Rogen has. He used his clout to bring Preacher to AMC. Sam Caitlin is the * show runner*....not Rogen.Caitlin was the show runner on Breaking Bad. In other words, Preacher will have a similiar tone to Breaking Bad. Rogen has absolutely no role in Preacher, other than actung as an executive producer.Sam Caitlin is also an executive producer, Caitlin makes all of the creative decisions. Rogen will not be working on the show as a writer or as a director. This is not conjecture on my part. The credits on IMDB.com,AMC.com....and everywhere else you look...in interviews with Rogen & Caitlin.....his role in Preacher has been made clear. Rogen is playing the exact same part in The Boys. An executive producer, nothing more. All he is doing in bith shows is *getting* them to be adapted onto TV.
  2. From a business stand point, this makes sense to me. Albeit your harsh tone. Sad but true. As the old adage goes: Desperate times call for desperate measure That doesnt mean its smart, but if a dealer had a slew of bad turnouts at cons, he still has to go back home and feed his family Yeah, agreed with you both, on both counts. Whenever I have a bad show, I think about some sagely advice that Al Stolz of Basement Comix relayed to me and a couple dealer friends of mine, years ago while we were talking shop at a small con. "No matter how bad a show is, never blow out". I've held fast to that tidbit, actually somewhat to Al's chagrin, when he's offered to buy books from my wall at shows.I counter his offer with that qoute, actually..he gets a lil chuckle out of that. I offer my table stock at competitive prices ( I don't carry .50 cent or $1 books) ...and I will cut (and virtually always do) a few bucks off virtually any sale, just to be friendly and build a repoire with buyers.Even if I am not asked, ...and I know that the buyer pulled out books that were already priced on the low end, I'll shave 10% off his stack.Or if he goes to town and picks 30 SA books out of my $10's, I'lleither give him 5 books for free or knock $50 off the tab. I'll tell a guy to pick a book out of my $3 boxes for free, after he buys two of my $5 books.........or a single $10 book, and he pays me. People remember those sorts of gestures. If somebody ever wants to buy out all of my table stock, they can have it for twenty five cents on the dollar. Hell, I'd be happy to get .33 cents on the dollar in trade value, towards bigger ticket books or slabs.
  3. Otherwise known as why it isn't worth going to most of them these days. Nope, for the most part, shows have ALWAYS been like this. Last year at Baltimore, mid afternoon on Saturday, AFTER I dropped off a stack of books to CGC for onsite grading......I found a coverless Wonder Woman # 105 in a dealer's $2 boxes, under his table. The book was filed correctly, with a comic divider labeled "Wonder Woman".
  4. Congrats Thanks. I tried juicing it with a $175+ shipping 7 day BIN...it had 5 watchers......12 hours later .. then knocked it down to $149.95 and got offered $100, he countered with $115.......I countered with $135.He passed so I canceled the offer and the listing. Relisted it at $124.95 and it sold immediately.Probably would have (and should have) just let it sit at $149.95 BIN but whatevs. It would have sat in my boxes for another few months if you hadn't brought this to my attention ....I already had it for about half a year, or more, got it in a trade as a throw in,,,,with a Eternals 1 CGC 9.0 (cracked slab), DD 168 CBCS 6.5, Ms Marvel 1 CGC 9.2....all 4 slabs..and a Captain America # 333 CGC 9.4 (cracked case, I gave it away to a kid I know as a freebie in a trade)....all those 5 slabs..AAAAND the kid threw them into a trade for $75 worth in credit, at my table Cheers again for the heads up....and if you are going to to any of the shows that I will be set up, please stop by my booth and I shall present you with an *ICE COLD PINT OF GUINNESS DRAUGHT* , from my mini-cooler, behind my table. It's always nice to put a face to a name:) Next show I have around your way is Eternal Con (paid the extra dough for a Premiere Placement table...learned my lesson last year..ugh) than Terrific Con, way out in effing CT in the summer....... Buuuuut, you should check out the South Jersey Con in May 1st......it's a packed room......a small show with tons of competitively priced dealers...I can get you through the door at 9:15AM .........45 minutes before the show opens to the public;) http://frankensteincomics.com/ It is a smaller show but it averages about a 1,000 attendees. There are no VIP passes, doors open at 10AM. Send me a PM with your number and I'll text you mine, just give me a call when you pull up. Just pay the $3 admission fee to the promoter, I've known him for 20+ years.I'll let you in thru the back door and introduce you to the promoter briefly, you may then hand him his lousy three bucks...I don't need Bill getting ticked at me, hah....and proceed to pick away;) There's the CAK we all know! Even a wonderful back door reference. I'm all about back door references, fella. I'll give your rear a playful little slap at a show, just dare me, handsome.....you know that you secretly yearn to feel the stern smack of my manly hands upon your body Jokes rife with latent homosexual undertones aside.... Seriously, The dude hooked me up, with a tip...and he posts a lot of good tips on this board....just trying to help a brotha out, in return. You know that the best deals are scooped up BEFORE a show opens to the public, right?
  5. ...Okay, here is my "finally, #2.... I posted, in your last thread, that you need to run your thumb over each of the ridges/edges of all 4 sides of each full back, before using them. In the pic that you posted, (look at the second board. You will see, if you run your finger over the edges, that each edge has a slightly raised lip. That is specifically what I was referring to , with my comment about running your thumbnail over all 4 edges of the board.
  6. Damn you English and your lousing up of the Metric system... That aside, you should stack 2 long boxes on top of the 10 packs of boards...then stack 2 short comic book boxes on top of the long boxes That is about 150 pounds of weight. Give it a week....and the pack on the very bottom will be usable. That is what I have done, it works. Also, keep the rest of them sealed and UNDER THE WEIGHTS, while not in use. Finally, I will add the following: Everything I have said is based on the experiences I have had with cases of Gerber Full Backs I have ordered, from MULTIPLE sources. The problem is shifting during transit, coupled with humidity, which really makes buying full backs (and storing them) in the summer months...a huge PITA. Annnnnnd: ***** I cannot make heads or tails out of what the issue is with the board you have pictured. All of my advice is given under the belief that you are dealing with full backs that lie cockeyed. It looks like it may have come into contact with water...or just an extreme amount of condensation, which is plausible considering you are in the UK.If that is the case, they are useless. Edit: Just looked at that pic on my desktop....that top board needs to be trashed, the others are fine. They just need to be weighed down. End of edit. If the actual texture of the board does not feel flat and it is RIPPLED, you will have to RETURN THEM....and by "rippled", I mean, water/condensation damaged. A pack of boards should lie flat, with a very slight concave towards the middle of the board.IOW, a slight concave is GOOD/DESIRED as the spine of the book is "cradled" by the board. ***** To clarify my meaning.A regular pack of BCW boards will have a coated side, the coat being termed "acid free".We all know that they are not acid free, that is not what I'm getting at.Most comic shops just bag/board their books with out flipping a board over....which is stupid. You want to flip the board over and use the other side of the board,as that is the side with the slight concave of the book, towards the center. Same thing with Gerber Full Backs, when you remove a board from the pack, flip the board over and place the comic on the board. That side will have the concave, because the pressure of the shrinkwrap, which pulls the boards downward. I should win boardie of the year, for the suggestions I made to you, in the two threads you created Seriously, this is how you want to go about dealing with properly bagging/boarding books:)
  7. Congrats Thanks. 8. You have to be joking, please tell me you are joking. If not, you actually think buyers should have to pay more for a pic of the book ? It took you 5 minutes to respond to this post....the price just went up another 5%. I came for the Cool Books, but I stay for the lolz In that case, I offer up the following, to elucidate my point
  9. You have to be joking, please tell me you are joking. If not, you actually think buyers should have to pay more for a pic of the book ? It took you 5 minutes to respond to this post....the price just went up another 5%. Now, we're looking at 10%.
  10. You have to be joking, please tell me you are joking. If not, you actually think buyers should have to pay more for a pic of the book ? That is not what I said. The pre-sales threads close when then the books are received by the dealer. In most cases, the dealer will get a higher price on any given book through an eBay BIN listing. Hence, the dealer raise in prices. FTR, I have never ran a presales thread, nor do I plan on doing so.
  11. Nope. Pre-sale threads don't bother me.If I were looking to buy slabs at a discount, I'd buy from those threads. The seller prices them lower to get some quuck cash together, the buyer is getting CGC graded books, at a discount. If the seller has to wait longer, scan and post up pics, it is only fair that the prices go up.
  12. I am referring to new, shrinkwrapped packs of 50. Each pack usually exhibits some degree of warping i.e the boards are cockeyed.....use them as they currently are, and you will almost certainly cause spine tics.
  13. Actually, this happens with just about EVERY pack of full backs that I buy.If I place an order for them in the summer, they are unusable bc of humidity during the summer. I buy a case at a time, and stack all 10 packs on top of one another, let them sit for about a week....with 50 poynds of weight, placed on top of the stack. Then I will take the pack of 50 from the bottom of the stack. That is usually enough time, weight to press out the bend. When i sub book to CGC, I take out books that have been stored in my $5 or $10 boxes for a year or so, ...and use THOSE M2's and full backs, for my CGC subs. They will always work best, because they have been "pressed out" by the weight of being in a short box.
  14. Preacher has been on an upswing again, last Preacher #1 in GPA at CGC 9.8, this past week sold at $985. Here is a healthy auction for a #1 CGC 9.8 SS Fabry at $1350, with 2+ days left.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/PREACHER-1-CGC-9-8-SS-GARTH-ENNIS-STEVE-DILLON-AMC-Show-Coming-Soon-1ST-PRINT/131772083693?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35934%26meid%3D5b5ec851eb084a4eb0a61335efcdfe89%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D381595365543
  15. I wonder why #100 is not going up in value? 100 has had some occasional moments of hotness (I sold a 100 cgc 9.8 for $125 yesterday)....non villains always seem to go up a bit quicker plus there's only 1 version of 108 and a multitude of 100s... i'm sure they think Negan is another Governor and will be dead by the end of season 7 they have no idea that Negan is the Joker to Rick's Batman. 100s slow rise makes the Death of Glenn even more imperative so that it matches the comic exactly. If Negan can't get blazing hot...that doesn't bode well for 132 and 138 $135 is cheap, I saw 2 CGC 9.8's sell for $200 each, in the past day.The regular 1st print sells better than the chromium, 2nd print sells better than 1st print. FWIW, I sold a CGC 9.8 WD 100 chrimium for about $90 a few months back so don't feel too bad Raw 1st print, NM+ at $40 shipped... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walking-Dead-100-1st-Negan-1st-print-Adlard-Variant-Cover-NM-/331823394781?hash=item4d42372fdd:g:IIcAAOSwWBJXA~U2
  16. I have not had any of these books you are posting but thank you for posting them. Maybe I will stumble across one at this weekend east coast comic con! I think not. I'll be there, before you, during dealer set up and will be buying all of the copies that I see. Muhahaha.
  17. Sean knows copper books very well, I'd have to disagree with this
  18. Cult fav artist, scarcity and/or 1st app.'s are my guesses. But I'd love to hear a concrete answer.
  19. Thanks, Awelander.....I have a CGC 9.4 slab of that Hughes Miracleman variant. I will be putting it up on eBay today.
  20. Yup, good stuff....and, more on that.... http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/lucifer-rosewood-renewed-fox-1201748432/ "Lucifer” premiered in January and has been among Fox’s best performing new series. According to Fox, it is averaging 10.5 million total viewers across multiple platforms." FWIW, I sold a Lucifer #1 CGC 9.8 for $224.99, a couple weeks back. The other cheaper BIN's were snatched up and no CGC 9.8's were listed in auctions, either.
  21. He could play Custer well, although I think Dominic Cooper will do just as good, or better. On casting notes, the new screen still of Cassidy, looks very much like the cover of Preacher #3. AMC is doing an excellent job if promoting this show, as Kimik said....it also bodes very well that all of the rights to the show are in the hands of the creators. To those that say the show drifts from the conic storyounes, I say...chew on this and rethink your position That is another sign that the show won't be watered down.
  22. They will probably start to go back up in price, when the trailer for the next SW hits. Jaydogrules, looked at the link you provided.Seller did himself no favors with his description. But like Seanfingh said, a Chaykin sig has drawbacks. Unless any given book is insanely popular at the moment, eBay auctions generally blow, as well. The time to sell SW #1's via suction will probably be 6 months from now, whenever the trailer for the next SW movie is released. Intil then, I'd say it's a book to put up via BIN and just wait.
  23. TMNT #1 CGC 9.8 sold , in the last ComicLink auction for about something like 28K, if I am not mistaken. Which was about 200% of the previous sale in GPA. Looks like we will see, next month, how much a CGC 9.6 WP TMNT #1 can fetch..... http://comiclink.com/Auctions/search.asp?FocusedOnly=1&where=auctions&title=TEENAGE+MUTANT+NINJA+TURTLES+%231&ItemType=CB&CGC=YES
  24. Did you post up an in a direct response to the book(s) , as Rich asked you to? You just said "I posted in your thread"...you didn't specify what you posted in Rich's sales thread.
