  1. Superman 78 was so important, it was one of the first books that CGC ever slabbed. Does anyone know if this particular copy - the CGC sample slabbed 9.8 was sold? and if so, where I may be able to track it down? It's out there. This guy might be able to help... http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=29134&GSub=1534 I, myself, am on the hunt for Adventures 498 CGC 9.8. First book of the Funeral For A Friend, not counting Justice League 70. Looks like he paid $40 for the book back in 2012 or a whopping $16 in 2009...those are the only 2 sales of sample 9.8's in GPA.No cert #'s are given. What's weirder is that ther is only 1 sale of a "regular" 9.8 in 2012, at $61....you'd think the"sample" slab would catch a premium....but I can see how it wouldn't be viewed as much of a novelty as it would be now, after CGC has introduced 2 more generations of holders since 2012.
  2. This - the buyer did nothing wrong. Did you refund his postage ($6), also (I certainly would have)? All this drama over a $23.36 book? I did not refund his $6, because he got the other three books he bought in the package. Really? I'd think it would be an obvious gesture from a seller who makes this kind of mistake. The buyer is a bird, pretty much. A mistake was made, FD gave the guy a refund...he also did all that he could to retrieve the missing book. It is a $23 non key book, the switched books was obviously an honest mistake....then the buyer complains about spending his time watching FD's auctions...bla bla blah.... Then he proceeds to neg FD. I would have been overly apologetic, refunded the $6 shipping as well, offered a $10 SA book, whatever...just to avoid a neg. Does that mean the buyer was right to neg FD? Absolutely not.
  3. A-hem.... If any of you are holding onto Nyx 5 slabs, or have any 9.8 candidates....giddyup. Nyx 5 CGC 9.8 auction at $195 USD,ongoing Strangely enough, if you do a search for Nyx 5 CGC 9.8, the listings return a big fat 0. So , that auction may get overlooked. And here's a CGC 9.8 that I sold last week for $249.... Nyx 5 CGC 9.8 -Sold at $249 Ironically, I got almost $75 more for this book, than I got for a Wolverine 66 CGC 9.8, about 2 weeks ago. Offered free shipping on that one at a BIN of around $190 ( ran me $13 to California). Only had the 1 Nyx 5 but I do have a few more Wolverine 66 raws to get slabbed...and 2 copies of Nyx 4, in one of my "buy it and mess with it months later" boxes
  4. I picked up a raw "nm-" of Thor 199 from a seller for $15 + $7 shipping last night ....his description made it sound worse than the pics showed.Gotta love buying from those kinds of sellers. Didnt know it wasnt the 1st full app of Ego Prime but it's still sharp.... Also made a best offer on a cap marvel 26 cbcs 7.0 that was came up in my ebay alerts....$60 BIN shipped or best offer...offered $45 and it was accepted.I noted media mail was fine, long as it was bubblewrapped n boxed, guy just accepted the offer. So yeah, there are still flippable buys out there, if you do a bit of leg work.
  5. Huh? I just looked at the last 2 pages of this thread and all I see is a reply from Batmiesta wherein he compliments you on your posting of this book...I don't see any posts by him indicating he owns that slab
  6. Sold my Nyx # 5 CGC 9.8 at $249 within the 1st day of listing it.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/201639070617?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649
  7. Man, I hope people are not liking or disliking movies based on which comic books they own. That would be pathetic. Gawd. On the same token, all of the rabid fanboys who went on a brigade against B vs. S, and now are doing the same thing with this Suicide Squad movie.... ...really, some criticism is fine but...here's an idea, why not sit back and enjoy these movies for what they are...entertaining popcorn movies. I haven't seen the SS movie yet and this is my first time posting in this thread. But what if they're actually just not good movies, or not as good as you hope, or nit as good as they could be. There's a million choices for movies now. If I leave the theatre and wish I'd spent the money on something else, doesn't seem unreasonable to let people know about it. I am not going into see a comic book movie with the expectation it will be anything besides what it is...a popcorn movie, which it is. A comic book movie, by its' very nature and subject matter, is not supposed to be a searing tale of human drama. It is not supposed to be comparable to a Scorcese movie. A comic book movie is not Mississipi Burning.... The Hurt Locker... Silver Linings Playbook....The Machinist. A comic book movie is not about loss, love, redemption, the horrors of man's inhumanity to one another and so on. A comic book movie is a popcorn movie. ------------------------ Watch a comic book movie with the this mindset, as Paperheart posted, and you will likely not enjoy yourself: "+1, the relentless hype and then finding out they've got nothing is infuriating." -Edited by paperheart ( 29 minutes 25 seconds ago) ------------------------ Or............ you can watch a comic book movie, with the following mindset as another posted offered up, and you likely will enjoy yourself:

  9. I don't have any tales of urine samples showing at my door unannounced but I do have a relatable story of completely moronic behavior on the part of a USPS driver. I had a box with about a $1000 in slabs get delivered to my front doorstep about a month and a half ago, via USPS from Canada. The box was sent with $1K worth of insurance, signature required. It was left on my front doorstep.Despite the shipping label clearing reading, in bold faced type: "ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED". The only thing stopping someone from picking it up and walking away with it was a set of 10 steps, and I dunno, 200 feet of sidewalk leading up to my front door. Luckily, I live in a decent neighborhood and it was a pretty large box, as well. The more I think about it, the more I think I should have reported the package as not delivered and just kept the damn box, cracked open the books and re-subbed them. The sender and myself would not be out any money, since insurance was paid for. That would teach them a lesson, I'm sure the driver would take some heat for dropping off a $1000 insured packaged, when it was supposed to be signed for. Not that I would actually do that, because that is just theft, any way you slice it.....but it would serve USPS, and that driver, right.
  10. I'll also say that I have had a couple ebay scammers try to screw me out of books. I posted the experiences I had on this very board, and others told me that I was likely SOL...they had dealt with virtually the same situation and that is what the ebay/PP rep basically did for them.Nothing. If you are persistent, I would think you should be able to get your money back. That has been my experience.
  11. I'm sorry to hear about this, $300/change is a decent amount of money. There's a lot of things on that timeline above that are troubling. He was very selective with when he chose to respond to you.He ignored your PM's for almost a month. intil you filed a claim, then he responded within 24 hours. The out of the states bit sounds like it was fabricated, in order to defer a refund for as long as he could. Not that it is only convenient for that end, but if a $300 and change PP hold is causing his PP account to go into a negative...that's not the sign of someone who has the money in his checking account to pay for plane fare, let alone traveling expenses. If he is an eBay seller, that means his checking account is tied to his Paypal account as a backup.A negative PP account means he would have a negative balance in his checking account. Every time you have been in contact with him, there has been a reason that he had to push you off.The last one being having to wait to check on his g/f to see if the package had arrived, despite tracing indicated it had arrived. I hate to say this, because I like you and I think you are a good guy, but it really sounds like he scammed you. I understand that you closed the SNAD claim but given that you do have proof that you have not been refunded, I think calling Paypal and getting a sympathetic rep on the phone might get that $300 revered back into your PP account. Out of principle alone, I would call PP today.
  12. Now there's a book I never expected to ever be worth anything. Don't get me wrong, I love War Is Hell #9, but that's because War Is Hell is a great series and that issue is the first appearance of John Kowalski. I had my copy signed by Chris Claremont last year and he looked at me like I had two heads when I asked him to sign it instead of the millionth copy of Wolverine #1 or whatever. Plus first appearance of Death, the love-interest of Thanos... Is that true? I thought Death was going to be in the Doc Strange novie. Anyway, WIH 9 has been a money book for years. first mistress death is captain marvel 26, not WIH 9, not even close Luckily, I am currently selling both #shameless But I always thought the first Death was in WIH 9... That is the first death. As far a movie speculation goes, there is a woman version of death who was most prominent in the Infinity Gauntlet series. Her first appearance was Captain Marvel 26. The speculation can go either way as this link with a qoute and image posted on Twitter by the director of Doctor Strange, shows.... http://screencrush.com/doctor-strange-death/
  13. Can anyone please give me a deadline to get my 2 grades in today? ...I can't get to my desktop intil around 6 today. :sad panda emoticon:

  15. Scroll to 28:55 for Rogen, Caitlin and Goldberg explaining what the gist of season 2 will be. Basically, season 1 was a prequel to and Season 2 will be picking up in line with where the comic started. http://media.amc.com/assets/show-preacher/podcast/season-1/assets/preacher-s1-ep-109.mp3
  16. A couple of questions about Dr. Manhattan, and Simon Baz..not sure where else to post this.... Can someone clue me in on what role Simon Baz has in DC Rebirth? His 1st App. is Green Lantern #0 (New 52)...this seller states he is the new G: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREEN-LANTERN-0-1-25-SKETCH-VARIANT-REBIRTH-ORIGIN-SIMON-BAZ-NEW-GL-OF-EARTH-/172188305954?hash=item2817390a22%3Ag%3AVVkAAOSwVghXEZS4&nma=true&si=VeD7mmFXp0rUf2iGq1cRRq6siew%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 I have a raw copy of this book, the 1:25 variant...can't imagine it won't come back at 9.8, will be subbing it @ the Mohegun Sun con. Looks to move at around $140-$150 in 9.8..... Also have the 1:25 variant covers of Before Watchmen Dr Manhattan #1-4, plan on subbing them at Mohegun Sun, as well. Basically, I want to know what the shelf life is on the Dr Manhattan 1:25 variants and the GL 0 1:25 variant.I fast track all my subs anyway but I'd still like to know the importance of these 2 characters. I know the basics about Dr. Manhattan apparently creating the DC universae, just wanna know if that is panning out to be the truth.
  17. Are you sure this is the best time to be submitting a gorgeous raw copy of a white-paged book like this, unless you were thinking of using the other company. The more than likely Newton rings on this white paged copy could potentially kill the beautiful look and seriously damaged the market value of this book in its current raw condition. I have about 30 books at CGC now, and these will be the first I have subbed in the new holders. I am going to wait and see how they look before doing anything. Will CGC reholder books for free that have particularly bad examples of the rings? They should, they make a lot of books look awful. That seems to be the consensus in the CG thread, but I believe they're out of the old slabs now. Eh, the updated case does have an inner well....you know that, right? The lack of an inner well is what caused the excessive newton ring effect on the 4/14 holders. I got 18 books back from CGC 2 weeks ago, slabbed in the post 6/14 cases. None of the cases have issues.
  18. You've got another data point: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-PANTHER-1-2009-NYCC-J-SCOTT-CAMPBELL-PARTIAL-SKETCH-VARIANT-CGC-9-8-WHITE-/301995563782?hash=item4650569b06%3Ag%3A0rAAAOSw-4BXbYwX&nma=true&si=1pFy9oUeOZ9uXAG5oN%252FJCz2HGsM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 The previous blue 9.8 was a first to market sale so it's not too surprising to see a drop off with the second 9.8. It did not help that the book really should have been reholdered in the post 6/2016 holder before it was auctioned, though.
  19. Ewan yes, Colin no! McGregor and Farrel are 2 of my favorite actors, I think either one would play Constantine very well.Although McGregor physucally looks more the part with the blond hair but if you look at the range Farrel has, he could pull Constantine off perfectly. Hell, you can compare the two actors side by side in Cassandra's Dream....then watch Farrell playing other morally conflicted characters in True Detective, Intermission and In Bruges. 5 outta 5 effing stars, across the board on all of his roles in those productions, no doubt. ...oh, and my first name is also Colin.Farrel's name is pronounced CORRECTLY, as mine is.Which I appreciate. Unlike Colin Powell with that ,"I pronounce my name like it is located inches away from my nut sack."
  20. It's a toss up between Preacher and 80's Miller Daredevil's for me....no way that I could narrow it down to a particular issue.
  21. The domain title and the Weapon X (MCP 72) suit in the last x-men flick clearly do not mesh with the inclusion of Wolverine's daughter, Jackman's Old Man Logan plot statement...and more pressing is the fact that every press photo/production still shot shows Jackman looking like Old Man Logan. Wolverine's daughter was not part of the OML or MCP Weapon X storylines, either. Looks like the Weapon X angle is being used as a marketing ploy, and as a way to get all science-y while putting X-23 into the mix.A plot device. That said, I am leaning towards the basis being OML, with Weapon X stuff being used as a plot device while Wolverine's daughter is put in there. If Wolverine's daughter is in the movie, the only thing that would make sense is if Wolverine were older...i.e. Old Man Logan.
  22. I bought the page from a fellow collector for $4,300 -- a good deal IMO, as it was more than $100 less than a similar example, page 3, sold for at CC auction recently. With any luck, it will turn up at your doorstep sometime soon. If it was in fact grifted by a FedEx enployee, the one upside is that it is an unmistakable page. The thief can crack it out to sell it raw or reslab it for a different cert #.....but if he does that, and it ends up in a CC,CL or Heritage auction....I'd have to think that the auctioneer would pull the piece and guve it to you, after you presented proof that you are the owner of the page and the consignor had given the auctioneer stolen goods.
  23. Gotta wonder how long it will take for Monstress to get optioned?
