Supes 1, Batman 1, Flash 1, All Star 3, All-American 16 -- dang. I don't see the Action 1 or the Detective 27, but I'm still looking! ;-)
Oh, and another little gem and one of my most favorite GA Books, More Fun #52...

They're in Berkeley, not LA, and I've been there.
They are in both places. I haven't been to the LA shop in quite a long time. Good inventory and prices. Aaron's records was also a good one in the day. My LRS now is Fingerprints in Long Beach. Great shop and good people.

I only have one: Tool - Lateralus which I basically bought for the gorgeous design. And it’s my favorite album. I love looking through my local shops collection. Would love to buy more underground punk albums.
When my daughter was in high school she came one day and told me she was going to see a poet that night. I asked who and she said Henry Rollins. I asked her, isn't he the lead singer for Black Flag? She asked me how I knew that? I showed her where my punk records were. She was astonished that I listened to that stuff. I told her I used to have a lot more fun before she came along and spoiled it.
I still have most of those records (other than the ones she swiped)...

I've got my Mom's copy of that and Hound Dog on Sun 78 rpm. My mom had some amazing records that I was the lucky recepient of.

This is an outstanding book on collecting rare 78s. Makes collecting comics seem like child's play. I couldn't put it down.

I have always collected both comics and vinyl. I got to the point where what I really wanted was the music itself anyway. Several thousand vinyl records take up space and are horrible to move around. I did want the fidelity of vinyl. So I bought a 160gig Ipod, a turntable with a usb cable and got to work. I'm still working on it but I aim to record most of my records as a wave file on my Ipod. Lots of this stuff is obtainable any other way than vinyl. As I'm doing it, I'm selling off most of my records. A very nice feeling to have what I really want and a whole lot less "stuff". Comics...I'm a hopeless mess.

GA books benefited greatly from the rise of stabbing. New collectors aren't really aware that behind the flashy covers is usually horrible art and terrible stories.
Really? That is probably true to a small extent but some of the best artists in comics were in the GA. Ever read an original EC? A Carl Barks Duck book? Just about any Fiction House or Quality book has beautiful art. The list goes on...

Collecting comics seem to fall into two areas. Modern and Vintage. Being pretty much a GA guy (although, I own a substantial collection of SA comics as well), I can only speak to this market. I see this market VERY strong right now. I deal with many people in their 20's-40's. Most started out with current books, graduated to BA/SA books, found them too easy to aquire and moved on to GA. GA is vast and can be a real challenge. These collectors have no problem paying big money for the cool books. Seems like a lot more collectors moving into GA every day. I can't speak for the long term future of the GA market but know I have had no problem or probably no problem in my lifetime finding new owners for my collection.

Some great stuff here. Question Do they have to be signature series to post? I've got a lot of the greats but sadly, they passed away before they got to be inshrined in plastic.

Legend has it Ric Durell's collection was awesome. Did you know him Bob?
Not personally. I was a LOT younger than he was. Through a couple of much older friends, I did get to go over to his house once. The books on the bed that the cat was walking on were his "under copies". He had quite the collection. He was one of the first deep pocket collectors. I think Yellow Kid knew him pretty well.

How 'bout some GA guys that just didn't make it long enough to be enshrined in plastic?
