Nice Williamson story in that issue. One of the first pre-code horror books I ever got.

2K was a righteous initial ask for the CDNP 24 1.8. This book went for $1345 six months ago. Did the dealer say it was a firm firm firm 2K? no counters wanted needed or accepted? If not, he broke the unwritten 10% law. A better deal will come your way. Which dealer was it playing hard ball on a 1.8 for gds sake?
After looking at that one again, you might have been OK passing. I'm pretty surprised he didn't take 1800 cash. Very fair offer on your part.

Thanks for the photos and nice report Mike. Did you come away with any prizes?

I find some dealer setups hard to shop at. Here the price is prominently displayed but you can't see the cover. I think it would be better to reduce the sticker to just the price, so you could see both the price and the cover art. Just my .
This setup was even worse. You weren't allowed to touch anything. So, if you wanted to see something, you had to bring over the dealer. Of course that's common for wall books, but this applied to much more for this dealer. It wasn't worth the time to shop there.
Wow, I've been showing off a gold mine on those Mysterious Adventures I'm running in my junk thread!

Such a tough short run. Several of those I have never seen before. There were a few I really wanted and picked those up. Looks like a ke I now have to add a couple more...

NY Comicon Report 5 - Things I Want But Can't Afford
Well, the first day of the con is in the books. I got to the con at about 1pm Thursday and stayed until about 430pm (I had to do some work). It is very crowded here, stifling so at times. They also have the con spread across 4 venues. Artist alley, while in the Javits Center, is a long walk from the dealer's room (the walk made even longer by the crowds).
Still though, yesterday was productive. I managed to see the 2 artists I most wanted to see, Terry Moore and Joe Benitez. Also, I set up a few commissions. I'm debating whether to get a commission by Tim Sale. He's pricey, so we'll see.
Here are a few things I saw that I won't be buying, unfortunately. Anthony has this Steranko on sale. I very much want it. It's perfect for an empty space I have in my wall. But at $12,000 it's way outside what I have budgeted for this show.
This Terrific Comics is high on my want list. The dealer has it at $4500. Honestly I'm not sure if that's a good price, but it's outside my budget so doesn't really matter.
Crimes Does Not Pay 24 is also high on my want list. I'm actually tempted by this. It's in rough shape but the cover art presents well. The dealer has it at $2000 and he is firm. Seems high to me but it's hard to tell because they are rarely offered. If you think $2000 is a fair price I'd be very interested to know.
I like Tim Sales sign. He spells it right out to you. I also love it that he will sign 2 books for free (for real fans!). The CDNP is a great book. It's hard for me to sale if it is a "great deal". It is one that everybody wants so the price reflects this. What is it worth to you? I doubt you would lose money if you needed to sell it in a couple years. I would consider it...

Mysterious Adventures #11
A nice cover I think. Used in Seduction of the Innocent. The first issue of this title I ever bought. I was trying at the time to collect all the SOTI books I could find. I really enjoyed it and seeked out the rest.
