  1. I wouldn't discount it so quickly, it seems like this could quite possibly be a 9.2/9.4, but as we've said there's no way to be sure without more pics. A 9.4 would push it into the $5000 range fyi.
  2. Good start, initial thoughts: - Lower right corner looks a bit rounded - Spine just above the lower left corner seems to be fraying out slightly, unless that's just a trick from the lighting? Are your the original owner, or did you buy this off someone? I ask in case there's undisclosed restoration. Also, is the Marvel Value Stamp intact? More would be better, including of the back cover.
  3. Well I'll give him credit for sticking to his principles, he probably could have made six figures if he was open for business. And that signature...I though it was a terrible head sketch at first!
  4. "This comic was signed by John Byrne (Cover Artist) at New York Comic Con 2017" https://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-181-SIGNED-John-Byrne-Trimpe-1st-Wolverine-Comic-Marvel-Old-Lot-/122758810988?hash=item1c94fecd6c:g:Wu8AAOSwIJlZ5lrL Is this another PGX authenticated Ditko, or was Byrne actually there??
  5. "The winning bidder will receive this really nice mid grade and UNRESTORED Incredible Hulk #181 featuring the 1st appearance of Wolverine." https://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-181-Vol-1-Nice-Lower-Mid-Grade-1st-App-of-Wolverine-Missing-MVS-/253200314741?hash=item3af3ea3175:g:4Y0AAOSwTblZ3Abi Riddle us this all_things_comics -- When did 2.5 become "mid-grade"? But at least the missing MVS is disclosed...
  6. For kicks I looked this guy up, knowing nothing of him prior to now. This Daredevil 1 listing made me chuckle: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Daredevil-1-Vol-1-Near-Perfect-High-Grade-1st-App-of-Daredevil-Original-1964-/253191295801?hash=item3af3609339:g:kK8AAOSwCV5Z1VH6 He and I definitely have drastically different opinions regarding the definition of terms such as "near perfect", "super clean", and "white". And the restoration to the book is disclosed...just as long as you click on the "See full item description" link. Definitely makes a living the gray area.
  7. Odd they would ship it so poorly. Certainly not a one book thing as I got a one book invoice back today, and the slab was shipped in a standard size box, double wrapped in bubbles. Definitely worth a phone call and a follow-up email with photos attached.
  8. From my small corner of the once and possibly future Amazing Spider-Man 1 owner's club, I picked up a blue label 3.5 in early 2013. I actually didn't plan on keeping it but couldn't even get an offer over $3000 at the time. I had it signed by Stan and let it sit for a while as an SS 3.5. I finally turned it loose and it sold on ComicLink a few months ago for $6600.
  9. “Signed by Stan Lee and Farlene on...”
  10. CCS seems to have turned into assembly line pressing since it was assimilated by CGC. I only use them when I have no other choice due to the circumstances of the book(s) I'm submitting. My would be to find someone who 1. knows what they're doing with pressing and 2. can take their time doing it.
  11. Ideally, get ComicLink to stop putting those gd stickers on the books they sell. Best solution I’ve found is a new holder, but nail polish remover works to a decent extent.
  12. If they add Demond Wilson to that Sanford & Son line-up, I’m flying out to meet you for the show!
  13. I clicked over to eBay just now, and homeboy's feedback profile has been taken private. Whatever could he be hiding???
  14. Crappy is putting it nicely. Until they step up enforcement, eBay deserves every loss on their ledger due to a shady member.
  15. I wasn't bidding on any books this time around, but I received an e-mail this morning about the server issue. (Bleep) does happen with tech. I agree that a small something from ComicLink to the no longer winning bidders would be a nice gesture.
  16. Dare I postulate that we just found the Action 250 seller?
  17. Submitted for your consideration: jbaria Sent me a message after my ASM 300 ended with a fair offer, which I quickly responded was acceptable and I’d set up a private BIN auction. Got a message the next day that one had been bought elsewhere. Has good feedback profile, but I still spite blocked for wasting my time.
  18. Therein lies CBS’ problem - broadcast would equal more viewers. Even though episode one left me thinking the acting was stiff and the Klingons look absurd, I’d keep watching if I didn’t have to pony up more cash. Most shows take a little time to find their footing, so I would ride it out on big CBS. Streaming though? F that.
  19. And if Charles Soule ever wrote anything remotely original I’d be astonished, Death of Wolverine was the most unimaginatively derived piece of trash ever written.
  20. Oh btw, keep your eyes open on 158 as well. The book came poly-bagged with a bunch of extraneous garbage included, and experience has led me to believe that said garbage damaged most of the copies that are out there. I've never seen another potential 9.8 copy since I dug one out of my extras box a few years back (now the sole SS 9.8 in the census).
  21. Really enjoy reading your Wolverine-centric journals. As a well seasoned collector, I can tell you that copies of the non-deluxe versions are relatively easy to find with a little digging, just not in high grade. I owned the first SS 9.8 copy of the 88 N/D (frostking now owns it as I did some paring of my collection), which I originally acquired taking a small risk on a group of books that was undergraded on eBay. It's the only potential/eventual 9.8 copy I've ever seen of that issue in my shopping travels. Coincidentally that same group of books also yielded SS 9.8 copies of the 87 and 90 non-deluxe versions. Memories... I actually went through every back issue box that I could at WW Chicago trying to find a potential 9.8 copy for labrat, but the only two copies I turned up looked more like 6.0s. Luckily for him you seem to have a whole lot of high grade copies in that stack As far as fixing the census, I think we're excrement out of luck on that. There's just too many mis-labeled copies out there, and I would guess that most of those owners either don't know or don't care about the Deluxe/Non-Deluxe problem. On top of that there's the hassle of actually getting the re-label done. Anyway, here's hoping you've got a large stack of 102.5 9.8s lurking in those back issues!
  22. I was actually surprised to see that Wizard World's stock is up recently (trading at $0.28 today), which seems to be a result of pink sheet speculation resulting from a programming agreement Wizard made with a company in mainland China. But just in case you were kinda sorta maybe thinking this was a time to put a few bucks in WIZD -- don't forget that Chairman Paul Kessler owns about 50 million of the 68.5 million outstanding shares. And Wizard PREPAID another Kessler company $200 grand in rent money for their corporate HQ. The insider's are going to hammer what few stockholders Wizard still has, it's just a matter of time.
