  1. "Friend doesn't trust these grading companies." I guess that last batch of 3.0s the "friend" got back from his bank deposit stash didn't sit well with him...
  2. Spot on. CGC isn't seeing a cut of the after market sales (at least I hope not, otherwise so much for impartiality), so the grade should be the grade. If that results in no 9.8s of a particular issue, so be it.
  3. That is 100% verbatim if I remember correctly, dude outright admitted what he was doing.
  4. Could GOODNEWSCOMICS and his alter ego(s) be back???
  5. More like - "For forging my signature, you're lucky I'm not pressing charges."
  6. FedEx is getting worse all the time. They recently ignored a re-route request of mine and then dropped 4 boxes of window blinds at the end of my driveway in the rain, two wound up heavily damaged. One big reason why all my comics get delivered to my office. But it's a huge help that he has video, no reason FedEx shouldn't be held liable since the driver violated their procedures by not obtaining the required signature.
  7. TV is still being talked about? Ugh. Please spare us. We're nearly a month in and Rotten Tomatoes has the box office rake at $44 mil. Seems like the only thing saving this movie from being a total monetary disaster is the fact that Sony skimped on the overall budget.
  8. I swear I initially read the title as "Invisible Sketch Cover"...
  9. She said "Why'd you say it twice?" and I said 'I didn't'. You see...its because of the echo...
  10. And I thought it was bad when I had a few Sig books come back as "Signed by Frank Tieri..." when it clearly wasn't Tieri's signature. This screw-up is on a level unto itself!
  11. Just cancelled a bid on an ASM 300 from this guy prior to auction close: bfpockets While I didn't have any direct issues with him, he's a new member that's already racked up two sketchy seller negatives. Not worth the risk imho.
  12. This made me remember a totally opposite experience (US seller though) - a guy packaged the heck out of three advertised NM/MT raw books I bought with the hope of getting signed, total cost was only like $10. Through what could only be massive mishandling, USPS managed to crush the lower left corners on all three, which I agreed would be NM/MT without the postman's damage. So I messaged the seller, mainly to complement him on his great packaging and spot on grading, but also to share the sad end result of the package's journey. He offered a few bucks back, to which I said "no, not your fault, no need", but he sent them anyway.
  13. Incorrect to some extent, most thrill bidders will out themselves with a quick exchange of messages. I had an enjoyable one with my last individual_without_enough_empathy bidder: "Hey I bid on the wrong item, can you cancel?" (No, my item was unique on eBay for months) "I'm new I don't know what I'm doing with the app" (You've been a longtime member and your feedback shows three other similar incidents in the past year) "I'm gonna leave you bad feedback then for being unprofessional" (Go ahead, I'll be sure to provide our full exchange to eBay customer service) "OK, will you take 2/3 of the sale in six weeks?" (Yeah, no)
  14. Well, WIZD was up 2.8% today...granted at their current stock price that only equates to $0.0048, but hey!
  15. I'm no scientician, but the thought process of "print is dying, we're hemorrhaging money, let's go back into print!" doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I did very much enjoy Inquest in my MTG playing pre-internet days though.
  16. - "hey bro, what's the lowest you'll take for this book?" - 'I'm not answering that, feel free to send an offer you feel is fair.' I get an offer of $50 on a book that eventually sold for $335. New book subsequently goes up. - "hey bro, what's the lowest you'll take for this book?"
  17. Run run run run run run run. Just looking at the stock's 5 year price chart tells you all you need to know -- lost nearly 66% of it's value in that time, even during this current bull market. Bleeding Cool also did an article several months ago about their shady dealings with insiders, such as pre-paying some oddball lease term (like 21 months) of their corporate HQ rent, space which they're renting from the current CEO (I think its the CEO, definitely a member of their board though). Wizard is clearly positioning itself to reorganize in bankruptcy court, which would wipe out the common stock holders in the process.
  18. Well, you could sell that Batman Adventures 12 and put those funds towards a 181...
  19. Anyone else feel like this investor's advice might also include something like "Kids have a lot of money these days, so after you finish your performance you might consider robbing 'em."?
  20. Now is a tough time to enter the Hulk 181 market as the book has been on quite a surge since the middle of last year. While I wouldn't expect it to depreciate much, if at all, from current prices, the bigger question is has the price plateaued for the foreseeable future? I don't think so, but it's still a commodity subject to market forces.
  21. Holy excrement, some great entertainment in there. I wonder what crackpot scheme that guy moved on to next...
  22. The same reasons that movies have been bombing for decades -- bad scripting, bad casting, bad acting, bad this, bad that. And not learning from past bad. Think about Kevin Costner's greatest hits -- Waterworld was a disaster, and yet someone still invested fat stacks in making The Postman. Which managed to be even worse. To circle back to the Dark Tower -- just from the general details and the trailers you can see many points where this movie fails. 95 minutes. PG-13. Terribly miscast leads. Bland -script. Generic run of the mill action movie explosions. And more explosions. With fire. Poorly set. Roland portrayed as seemingly invulnerable superhero. Etc. All involved failed in their attempt to create broad based appeal for this movie, and killed the entire essence of the novels in the process.
  23. There's no mystery to it, the movies are just bad.
