  1. How'd you know they are from FL ? Seen them before.? I'll have to double-check where I found them. (five minutes later) YEP...sure enough..... Here is the website link to the pics .... LINK-A-DOODLE-DO And a BIG PICTURE of that newsstand RIGHT HERE
  2. Cool story....it must have been neat talking to someone who picked up comics when they were just comics. It sounds like someone had it set up so that NEDOR had to work a bit harder to sell their product in NYC. I wonder what the story on that was ?
  3. Newsstand pics are so cool....I absolutely love when I find one I haven't seen before.....like this stand...with a whole mess of Archie titles....
  4. I agree...almost every copy I've seen has fading from the top to about the middle of the book...it usually turns a gross brown color....this copy is nice and GREEN
  5. There is a HORRIFIC 3 on ebay right now ...with only about 20 minutes left. IT's a CGC 5.0 CRM/OW It's sitting at 542.00 ...I wonder what it will end at ? WOW... it ended at $826.00 I asked the seller to send me some normal looking scans, if they have one. The scans on ebay were terrible.
  6. Hey Frank, the title is going to be "Death's Stagecoach", any thoughts ? How about something like this....... I too love Mr. Frazetta. It's really a shame that I've cherished his art since I was a kid...I'll be 40 this year and never got a chance to meet him. Same goes with all of these wonderful artists. It's like I got to the party, but everyone is gone. What a genuinely creepy and classic cover. It really comes alive with action. Frank was the Michelangelo of comics. p.s. SUPER-NICE colors on your copy.
  7. That's exactly what I was trying to determine...other maintstream pre-code horror books that are unusually hard to find.....like World's of Fear #2. I found some for sale on ebay, and one on Metropolis and they are all rags...except Adamstranges and this one...
  8. My theory, since every copy of THis MaG IS hAUnted has spine splits, it that the majority of them became coverless EARLY ON and probably discarded. Fawcett for March 1952. All we need to do is find the guys, at the plant these were printed in , probably Dec 1951 or Jan 1952 and ask them. Easy. I'm sure if we found one of them they would have retained a clear memory. Just ask them "Hey, so do you recall the day you guys were printing This Magazine is Haunted, specifically issue number 3 ?"
  9. I find it so interesting that besides never popping up for sale, what a GREAT COVER !!!!! Yours is the copy that is on the GCD ? on the Golden Age comics site, the site with tons of scanned books you can read, TMiH is the ONLY comic not scanned into the run. IT'S FRIGGIN RARE....
  10. I know this has been covered before...but besides TMiH # 3, what is another pre-code issue that is inexplicably uncommon ? I know the Voodoo Annual is one. Besides annuals and one-shot or just really obscure, what is another mainstream Pre-code book that just rarely pops up ??
  11. Hey ajax !!! It's me, ajax.... IF you look at the indica where it says FEB 1952 and what looks like a Vol. 1 no. 3, then you would plainly see it's is, in fact, a coverless copy of This Magazine is Haunted # 3. After spending years hunting down my copy, which has minor spine splits, every other copy I've ever seen, less than 10, had spine issues. I'm convinced there was a problem with spine splitting , during the printing process, and the vast majority of TMiH #3's are coverless. It RARELY turns up for sale, and it usually taped at the spine, or suffering from some splits. Nice Talking to You.
  12. Is that a This Magazine is Haunted # 3 ?? The coverless book two pictures north of here.
  13. I've seen some of the newsstand pics you've posted. I love them all. One place to search is online at college University photo archives. Like, for example, search for the University of Michigan photo archives...or any other similar large school. I usually search (newsstand, news stand, magazine, comicbook, comic book, newspaper) I've had a lot of luck in the past doing so, but I don't have much free time lately. Keep up the good work.
  14. really some excellent contributions lately. I would love to find more comic book burning pictures. That pic of Dr. Wertham reading that pre-code is funny. Even a crisp clear newsstand picture , where you can read the titles and see some cover graphics, that don't depict comics (mainly pre-1936 or so) fascinate me. .
  15. He signed his name to loads of art he never created. Right ? He's looking at this piece with a "I couldn't have done it better myself" kind of look.
  16. Vintage Photo showing two kids...one with a SUPERMAN shirt....I wonder if there exists any of these shirts today ?? This poor kid looks like he's having a great time.
