As for @Buzzetta's Top 3 Topic, my choices align very closely with @Mecha_Fantastic

As for new figures that came out this year:

    1. Dr. Fate Mezco One:12 - I haven't really gotten into this line, but I had to have this one when I saw it, and boy, it is lovely. A really great presentation, cool design, tons of display options, just a really, really neat figure.

    2. Studio 86 Hot Rod - sure, he's a little undersized for a voyager, but with the level of detail you get, he's absolutely worth it. The articulation, the play features (flip down visor, flip out buzzsaw, etc) and the way they managed to keep a cartoon accurate sculpt AND a great alt mode, this is a masterpiece level TF at a voyager price. I bought two, and I might need a third!

    3. I'd love to put Snake Eyes and Timber in this slot, but mine is still apparently on the literal slow boat from China. I know BBTS will come through eventually...so, since he didn't make it, I'll say the Classified RAM and Breaker set. I love the simple design, and I'd love to have more of the Original 13 in this lineup.

And my top 3 vintage pick-ups this year:

1 & 2. Dreadnok Air and Ground Assault sets complete with boxes: these were my two GI Joe grails, and out of the blue, I landed them. Still can't believe they're sitting in my display case!

    3. G1 Jetfire - lots of Xmas morning feeling with this guy. Box is rough, but he's still nice and white.

    1. I'll also add that this figure was my introduction to the line, and I was absolutely blown away with what I got. I've since preordered Bishop and the Fantastic Four deluxe set, and hopefully they're just as good as Dr Fate.

    2. I agree with every word you've said. Cartoon accurate, moves like a ninja, looks great doing so, no kibble, this figure of Hot Rod has it all. I also have 2 of it, just so I've got an extra if my open one breaks on me.

Listen to @F For Fake. He only speaks the truth!

See, that's interesting, because to me, the BAF is really the only thing I care about. Been wanting Bonebreaker for a long time now. I'd also take the updated Havok. Otherwise the wave is a snooze for me.

Oh well, good for you then. Not so good for you that you're not impressed by the wave. I'm not, either, tbh. I'm happy to have Siryn, and surprisingly Maggott, as I love the Kelly/Seagle run, so I'll happily buy a Maggott, but everyone else is pretty lacklustre. They're not exactly top picks, though. Are we really that far down the X-roster so fast? At least give us Banshee with his daughter.

  3. 1. Mezco 1:12 Collective Dr Fate. Such a beautiful figure, and so well-accessorised. This is a must-own for fans of the character, and fans of good product.

    2. This spot is tentatively going to a figure that I'm still waiting on: Masterpiece Thundercracker (new version). Finally a cartoon-accurate Seeker sculpt, and damn it looks good. It'll be a while before mine arrives, due to my shipping snafu with BBTS, so I'm living vicariously through others', but it looks SO nice.

    3. Transformers Studio '86 Hot Rod. This figure has it all. Excellent articulation, beautiful sculpt, nice accessories. It's a VERY sweet figure, and a great example of just how good modern Transformers can be.

    I liked Age of Ultron

James Spader did a very good job

I don't like it very much... BUT I find it to be EXTREMELY rewatchable. Wanna chuck on a film while you're working? AoU is perfect. Just wanna watch a one-off fun super-hero popcorn romp? AoU.

It's a strangely likeable film that's just not that great.

It's from Spiderman 3 raimi. Not from the movie.

My apologies, @JasonTodd69. I should have realised that, but having just had been exposed to supposed major spoilers in an innocuous unrelated Reddit thread, I was in a bad mood, and wasn't in the mood to be had again. I apologise.

Please tell me this isn't a spoilery scene from No Way Home. That'd be a real move to post such a thing so soon to the general populace, unspoilered, if so. If it's from a trailer, fine. Otherwise, what the heck?

He was my favorite character on that show...

    He was my favourite too.

    Spoiler

His death absolutely destroyed me. Only time that's ever happened in a TV show. But yeah, the opening of the crate happened so fast in the middle of all the other action you just didn't see it coming, it seemed like a happy moment was about to occur, and besides, they'd arranged such a good send-off for him anyway that went tragically unused. I just didn't see it coming.

    The show got me good.

  8. Welcome to the boards @NoChance. There's some great Image and Vertigo material out there just waiting for you. Do you like retro 'family team' books, but done with a modern twist? Then try hunting down an Image series called Dynamo 5. It's a brilliantly creative series that isn't afraid to upend well-established comic tropes, and does so in very inventive ways. It's also a very fun book, with GREAT costume designs done by now-Marvel artist Mahmud Asrar. I'd recommend it for anyone on these boards longing for the old days with a more contemporary feel. It really does hit the spot. On the off choices any stores still have the first trade paperback for sale at retail, it's $10US for the first 7 issues, a very good deal.

But anyway, welcome aboard, hope you find the place useful and the people friendly, and of course the information to be trustworthy.

That seller is Mike Kaye, the book's creator. The frog costume is new, though. He's apparently dropped the million-dollar BIN listings in favor of this new gimmick.

The staging for this picture (which almost has to be intentional, right?) is a succinct summary of my opinions of the book.

Image 01 - Amphoman 1 CGC 9.8 comic signature 1st App Amphoman Bleash BlackBull Brain Demon

Why did you write a nice comment about yourself, and sign it in Mort Walker's name, attributing said quote and sig to him in most people's eyes? To a layperson glancing at the book they'd think it lovely that the creator of Beetle Bailey thought so highly of you. It's not until you read the fine print of the CGC label that you see all the supposed Mort Walker text is actually written by Mike Kaye. Do you not find that at least a little deceptive? You claim to have worked under him, but that still doesn't make this okay, unless it's done by Mort and the label is wrong. However, it certainly doesn't look like Walker's signature to me. Just what were you trying to do?

I'm surprised CGC okayed this book. What's to stop Joe Blow no-name from writing 'Jim Lee' on a heap of Lee's most desired comics, and then just letting the label explain that it was actually just non-name writing Jim Lee, and not the Lee sig you were expecting.

This sets a bad precedent rife for abuse... or at least it would, if anyone gave a mess about Amphoman.
