  1. I think you strike while the iron is hot. Give Black Panther your best writers, artists, cover artists. This is the diversity push they have been trying to tap into. They have people's attention with the movie. Build on it with a remarkable Panther run.
  2. Agreed, but also illustrates it CAN be done. Marvel just chose to replace our beloved Legacy characters with, younger, diverse knock offs. They could do so much better with a kid like Miles Morales, than just make him Spiderman Junior.
  3. A) Sweating in the California heat, clearing out basically 99% junk lockers, or B) setting up at a various Comic-Cons, with some great books, in an air conditioned convention center, turning over nice profits....I would choose B.
  4. That is a neat find, with quite a back story. I agree about trying to bag and board as much as you can. From there you can decide to keep, sell a little at a time, or sell the whole lot to a dealer. Those books have definitely seen better days, but I also agree that you probably have a lot of $5 maybe some $10 books in there, the first Batgirl being the exception.
  5. Isn't Red Hulk #1, a cover only appearance, and considered his first appearance? I'm so confused.
  6. Pretty incredible. Sometimes people just fall -backwards into it. If he played his cards right, (and found a knowledgeable partner) he could probably quit the storage locker business for awhile, and just do auction houses, and set up at shows.
  7. And Black Panther is doing mad money $$$ right now in the theaters. I still think the medium needs monthly comics. It's overkill at the moment. I just think Marvel needs to go to about 11 titles per month. We don't need 4 X-Men books. We don't need the Champions, or Defenders, or Gwenpool. We definitely don't need The Great Lakes Avengers. I would keep it to this: 1) Amazing Spiderman 2) Captain America & The Falcon 3) Iron Man 4) Hulk 5) Thor 6) Black Panther 7) Avengers - with a strong female lead presence *Led by Ms Marvel, Black Widow, The Wasp etc.* 8) X-Men 9) Daredevil 10) Fantastic Four (but put them off-world- Give them a Space Station, or a Mars base or something-stick to intergalactic 11) for the 11th slot, I would take a character and run it for a 12 month storyline. For example do a Power Man/Iron Fist story for a year. Then when that was over do a Punisher arc for 12 months, then do a Deadpool etc.
  8. Sooo...... What's this mean for #797 then. Should we all get to the LCS as soon as the doors open?
  9. I think Modern Comics have as much economic stability as Gone With The Wind Collector Plates. Anybody paying above cover price for this issue is a fool at this point. Unfortunately, I still like to buy Modern Comics to keep up with some of my childhood heroes. 5x Cover price for something that just got released Wednesday, is asinine. I hope the locals give these shops a piece of their mind.
  10. With the exception of Ghost Rider, Avengers #1 is at least a team line up I could get behind. The lineup blows away the last few years selection.
  11. I don't disagree that it is a form of gouging. I guess I am curious as how 'gouging' pertains to collectibles, because it certainly isn't illegal like supplies during a hurricane (living in FL I am all too familiar with this)? So if a new release comes out that regularly sells for $3.99, what is the limit of time before a vendor should be able to tack on extra $$. 1 month when the next release comes out? Or is it moot and a free market society?
  12. Mind boggling. So which came first, the face sig, or the hair sig? It makes no sense to have it done twice. Then you have 3 different sigs below, all in 3 different colors of ink. I wouldn't pay $1 for this.
  13. Probably because he kept missing the window, and signed the bag.
  14. I wouldn't spend another dime at a place that just did that.
  15. Nobody should be signing a plastic case. As for Stan Lee. I would offer this bit of advice: I have stood in line 3 x for his signature. All 3 times were not very fun. It's an assembly line, and good luck if he looks up at you now a days. You will see dozens of different items being signed. From comics he had a hand in creating/writing, to comics he had nothing to do with. He will sign guitars, toys, books, baseballs, he even signed my nephews arm once, which is now a tattoo. There are thousands upon thousands of Stan Lee comics signed. If you are looking to do this for some sort of profit- it will not happen. I would suggest getting one of your favorite comic covers signed in a print or poster format. Various web sites have all sorts of Marvel posters and prints. That way you can frame it, put it on a wall, and not worry if it's good comic or not. This is all just one man's opinion. It's your money and comics, so do as you wish. I do hope you enjoy the experience. It is cool to see him at his age, and he is still the living legend of our hobby. Cheers!
  16. "Dear Marvel Crew-- I really enjoyed issue XXX of Spiderman. The way that variant cover by Dell 'Otto pops off the shelf was awesome. I had to have it. It will look great in my 9.8 CGC case, where I can check it everyday, and monitor the sales on ebay. Sorry, I didn't open it and check the artist inside, or the writing, or the plot. But I am sure it was swell. Well....until Dell 'Otto goes to work 9-5 at an Ad agency...MAKE MINE MARVEL!" Sincerely, Tool #142 of 600 (or so).
  17. Not EC, although when they had 2 stores, it was my go to place. Now that they merged into one big store, I have closer options.
  18. I see your Shinji Tōdō, and raise you a Danny Seagren.
  19. Or Nicholas Hammond....that's right! I went there. Google it suckas!
