  1. I love the way Sultan's inks look on original art. This is from Hello Pal #1:
  2. My story doesn't go back nearly as far as most of you guys', but in 1987 at the Atlanta Fantasy Fair I had $$$ in one hand and Action 1 in the other, but passed on it because I was working for Phil Levine and E Nelson Bridwell's collection had too many cooler books (high grade Jungle, Jumbo and National runs, New Funs, early More Funs, large sized Masters...). The price for Action 1? A modest $1500.
  3. Ok then where do you draw the line? Tomb of Terror was a horror book but switched to sci-fi at the end. War Against Crime and Crime Patrol are "crime" books but featured the first EC horror hosts. All are considered PCH, as is CSS 22, by most people I know.
  4. If we are talking purely $$$ potential at auction, I can't imagine any PCH book selling for more than one of the two 9.6 GFC copies of Crime Suspenstories 22. An 8.5 copy sold for $9,560 at Heritage 3 years ago.
  5. Underwater horror really works for me-awesome book!
  6. GLWS-ya gotta love a Rock prototype with a cover by Grandenetti and an interior story by Andru/Espo!
  7. A few of these are recent pickups. I have a few covers that I am kind of a hoarder of....
  8. One of a handful of precode covers that use the same racial slur. Farrell was the worst with 3 covers.
  9. The colors on that Adventures in Darkness look beautiful!
  10. Man, I leave for 15 minutes to walk the dog..... Looking forward to seeing what you have tomorrow-fun thread so far!
  11. (Jaw hits floor...) So cool I'm speechless. Congrats on an awesome commission!
  12. I agree. Even detailed grader notes would be a great start. I've seen some that IMHO didn't deserve the brittle designation. Then some that weren't designated as brittle but actually had visible chips lose in the slab.
  13. This beauty could almost pass for a pre-hero DC cover!
  14. Jumbo Comics #8 from the Summer of 1939, the special NYWF issue.
  15. 1940 cartoon juxtaposing the NYWF with the war in Europe:
  16. I shared this one before when I first got it but wanted to reshare now that it's back from CGC. Highest graded copy! I'm beyond happy, needless to say. This is the last issue of the title and is pretty tough in grade.
