PGM IRON MAN 1 **Back From CGC**
WoWitHurts replied to STORMSHADOW_80's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
6.0 IMO -
Bigger BA Key: GL 76 or HOS 92?
WoWitHurts replied to bronze johnny's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
GL 76 probably although the cover is so disproportioned it pains me to look at. -
Forget GPA. Search ebay sold comics (under advanced search). That will give you a general baseline if any have been sold recently. Otherwise spend a little for Overstreet price guide to get some idea.

Moderns that are COOLING on EBAY...
WoWitHurts replied to Havok Jinx's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
ASM 361 has more graded copies than I imagine people to collect it. Prices for it have already started coming down. Anyone who bought this book to flip over the summer will be hurting IMO. -
looks legit. If you want to have it graded it will probably be notated that there is a signature on inside front page but won't authenticate it.

They did not treat her very well. She reportedly made less than the camera men.
-
I think the tear is going to crush it. However, Even if it is in CGC's opinion a 6.0 I think collectors will recognize how nice it is and if sold would probably go for a premium at that grade IMO.
-
I would think no better than a 6.0 but it is a very nice copy and the tear doesn't really detract from how nice it looks IMO.

I haven't done a piece professionally since around 2000. I don't have much of an interest in working for them (Marvel, DC, DH, Image, and Archie) anymore. I have started working on my own stuff and plan on publishing something in 2018. And thanks for the compliment.

The Aquaman was isn 29 (5th series?)
-
Yeah. The Doctor strange Spotlight was never published.

I have been working on getting my spider keys >100 out of the way and this book has been a pain in the butt for me to get. I don't know if I will get to replace all my spider man books I lost in a flood scenario in 2013 but we shall see how much life I have left. I am working backwards and probably won't buy any sub 100 books for several years. Trying to get it back to 100.

Weaving the Web: Completing AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Run
WoWitHurts replied to Wall-Crawler's topic in CGC Journals (old format)
I think this IS a mega key. Probably one of Ditko's best. Grats on the pick up, it looks nice. -
I actually doubt that. Comfortable? yeah. FU money? Don't know. His star was waning when Image was formed and those seven were making some dough. He seems like a bitter man and has for as long as I can remember. He was at a smaller con once so I bought a WW cover I colored and had him sign it. Not an overly nice individual IMO. He could have had an off day but still. If he really had FU money he would still be doing Next Men instead of other companies crappy books. His FF run was spectacular though.

I have always thought it weird to encase a comic book like a baseball card. At least with a BB card you can get to all of the information. With a comic you get the cove and back cover. I don't really see the point in that. I like the restoration check though. I think a lot of the time people are buying the label and not the book. I don't begrudge anyone for liking it or whatever they want to do. Just my opinion. BTW I own over 100 slabbed books. ;-)

POLL: Would you press or restore a pedigree comic? I would not...
WoWitHurts replied to newshane's topic in Comics General
I don't think I would crack one out of its case to press it but I really don't care about most pedigree's. I have some pedigree books but only because they met the criteria I was looking for and not the pedigree itself.- 23 replies

I use Overstreet as a gauge for raw. The thing about ebay is if you are a seller and you misrepresent the grade it is going to be returned. I find most of the books I get from ebay is in the range of what is described. If a seller posts no grade and simply says check out blurry pics for grade I pass 100% of the time.

How do you as a dealer determine your prices?

I would be happy with FMV.

When do you know it's worth CGC grading a comic?
WoWitHurts replied to Eskreeyo's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I only send stuff in if I am going to be selling it and it is of high enough grade\value. For instance I have 5-6 copies of Iron Man #7 raw. All of the copies present well and look super nice but grades range from 8.5-9.4. A graded 8.5 sells for less than $60 and a 9.4 for around $125 graded. After figuring in cost to ship to and from CGC and grading costs plus any selling fees etc. it is hardly worth it to me to get it slabbed. -
X-Men 101 - 1st Phoenix, is this NM or better?
WoWitHurts replied to sirwesker's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
9.4 with press imo -
I don't trust raw grading on ebay necessarily. Some books I buy thinking they are under graded and sometimes that is the case and sometimes not. I don't expect anything from you but if you have books in the range of guide I will buy it and there is nearly as much risk of a dealer over grading as anywhere else. I don't pull every book out to inspect it and some dealers are better at grading than others. It does help to have it in hand to at least look at the cover. I don't just buy from ebay. I have a long list of dealer sites I use also.
