  1. Here is a screen grab of which spider-man its under.
  2. Most of GPA data comes from ebay sales based on how the seller lists it. Not all sales are captured and it doesn't capture at least one of the major auction sites (ComicLink). Its a good start but you need to due your due diligence in researching prices. Don't solely go by what GPA has listed. For instance there is a 9.8 CGC book that I have been trying to get, the last copy recorded on GPA is about $6000 but two other copies have sold more recently for about $1600. The 678 variant, particularly the venom version sales a lot of off of ebay and exchanges hands privately. You can search this board and probably find people who have sold it. I sold my copy here. Best of luck.
  3. True. The two are the same thing now. No longer is there anyone cutting rubylith (I hope). Even so I know that at least Marvel, DC and Archie only allowed CMY color codes and even after Codd-Barret showed up and made the separations digitized and easier to use k tones they still weren't.
  4. It is possible that the K plate was flooded as used to be standard to make the line art as solid as possible. Colorists used to never use K (Black) tones now it is common thanks to programs like Photoshop but sometimes results in what you are probably seeing here.
  5. I never said $800 would get you one and YOU ARE RIGHT $800 will not do it. I know it is more expensive. My point was $800 gets you pretty close. An extra $290 would have got you and OW/W from ebay just last month. I think you did want to debate what "in the range" means as I never said it would flat out get you one. You got caught up in semantics and wanting to prove someone wrong. What you could have said was the current average for that book in 9.8 wp is $1200 or whatever it is currently and then suggested some other book. You didn't really add anything to the discussion nor really help the OP. Yep Bob, you got me, I was wrong. To the OP. Sorry I suggested ASM $194 because it will be several hundred more for you to get that book. However if you like Iron Man You can get 2 single digit Iron Man's in 9.6 white pages for about $850
  6. I said it will get you in the range. I just picked up a 194 9.8 WP for $910.
  7. $800 gets you into range for ASM #122 9.6 WP, ASM #194 9.8, ASM #238 9.8. All cool covers for display and you won't get hurt owning them.
  8. I would imagine some people do but I expect it would be a collector who just wanted to get rid of some defects for his/her collection. A dealer would most likely slab after pressing so as to get the most bang from it. Also, If it was slabbed and the collector wasn't happy with the grade it received they may have taken it out of a slab. I have never been able to identify pressed books.
  9. They bought Malibu for the in house coloring studio. It was the first time in a great while that they found themselves behind the other companies. Though ultimately it didn't work because all they bought were aging Apple Quadra machines. The colorists went elsewhere and they went back to using freelance colorists.
  10. I would like to see notes on 9.6's. I would like to know what they believe that deduction is for. If it's only one defect it wouldn't take too long to write that down.
  11. I just assume every book that's been slabbed has been pressed. Only those books I am the original owner of do I know for sure.
  12. The first Image books were basically published and colored (except Spawn which was done by Steve Olif using Codd-Barret) through Malibu comics. Malibu ran some ads for their books. Flip through some Dinosaurs for Hire and the like.
  13. This was such a horrible show. It will not last much longer IMO. I like a little more comics at my comic convention. Very few dealers, in fact there were more dealers at the last local flea market I went to in the are than there was here. There were some vendors with interesting stuff. My son bought a art print thingy and had his caricature done for $10 and he enjoyed that. i never have been into autographs really but that area was confusing. Oh and Gene simmons was signing things for $120 which is hilarious to me. Or you could get a selfie with him for $120. Boggles my mind. As was stated earlier you could walk it in very little time and since there were few comic dealers I ended up mostly watching my son get pics with some of the cosplay people which did a pretty good job. In all I was there for about 2.5 hours. Last WW show I will go to. Going to C2E2 this year instead so hopefully that's better. WW ruined the Chicago con, I wish they had not sold it to them. Waiting for Comic Show Armageddon when WW goes bankrupt. Then those left might actually be good.
  14. Given up on WW Chicago. I never liked it once Wizard got a hold of it. I am going SAT. If anyone has a dealer pass for sale please let me know. Also, where do you park up there, seems like it will be hard to find a spot.
