  1. ASM 798 released today and by any definition is a full appearance.
  2. So ASM 798 has a full appearance of Red Goblin for about half the book so this should be his official first appearance not a cameo. It would seem that 799 could be part of an origin story.
  3. I think ASM 300 came down some off its highs but this book, TMNT 1 and NM 98 are THE Copper age keys. Price adjustment on ASM 300? - Yes Bubble bursting on ASM 300? - No
  4. People are going nuts for this run. I've never speculated on pre-orders but I did on this run. Yes, I'm guilty. I pre-ordered 10x 799s and if I sell each at $5< I'll be happy. 792 doesn't seem to be coming down, but I think the run between 793-797 will come down to Earth in a year or so. Marvel teased 798 as the 1st app so we'll see what comes of 799 and 800. First full appearance?, "Death of..." I wouldn't be surprised if 800 is "Death of Green Goblin" (again). I'm already picturing my IG post putting 122 next to 800 to show them off.
  5. I had a PO Box and at least once a year they lost a package inside the Post Office. I'd file a claim and then they would find it there in the Post Office even though it was marked as delivered. Eventually I stopped filing claims and I would just come back another day when it was less busy and find one of the ladies that worked there for years. They always found it immediately. I've written several times about my mailbox at the local UPS store and have never had a problem (they did give me someone else's pelican case once by mistake which I returned). I have had $XXXX books delivered there in the past and never lost sleep. One of the clerks knows I buy/sell comics and he told me about his uncle's collection with the Superman #1, the IH 181 CGC 9.6, etc., so we talked comics and now he looks out for my boxes.
  6. It would be even worse if that guy was there for furniture and he just starts yelling out stuff because he thinks its funny to jack up a deal in progress. This is the same type that walks by the rec room and yells Bingo! on his way to the bathroom.
  7. The Boomers will cash out eventually, you know: death & taxes... When will the International collectors buy in (en masse)? There is a hunger for Americana overseas but many international customers are priced out because of the cost of shipping which may be many times the price of books domestically. When technology levels the field competition for comics and other collectibles will increase due to money flowing from customers in Australia, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. I'm bullish. I believe technology will further open up collecting competition to international markets. After all The World is Flat.
  8. As far as I know this has been the way for a few years. I don't have any combined shipping formulas created because I hear they usually don't work any way so I just send manual invoices.
  9. I agree, I don't like this but suck it up to make the sale. It is too complicated for most buyers to understand this when trying to explain it to them. If they can't figure out how to request an invoice, I'm not going to explain the process of partial refunds and eBay fees.
  10. I have an ASM 529 9.8 with an insect inside of the slab. Wanna trade?
  11. Requesting immediate payment is one option to avoid non-paying buyers. Everyone who does this just has to remember that now you can't send invoices to buyers who want to purchase multiple listings for combined shipping. There is no "request total from seller" option if immediate payment is required. This won't affect a lot slab sales but guys filling runs of raw comics like to combine shipping.
  12. Everyone wants the keys and that's what the newbies know to buy. Its the guys with a rating of 1000+ buying the <$5 run filler. +1 on signature.
  13. I look for these "deals" all of the time. You win some, you lose some. When I lose, I make sure I bid so that I come out even. The generic titles with no description are the best! I love to see a title like "Lot of X-Man Comics" because I know this listing isn't going to be a bidding war, no one is looking for it.
  14. I just scheduled some lots of "Web of Spider-Man". When I created the listings with "Web of Spider-Man Lot of 10..." in the title, eBay suggested key words "Star Wars 1" and Genre: War.
  15. E-Checks take a few days to post and are mildly annoying. To me, it is just the cost of doing business and e-check > unpaid item case. The estimated clear date is right around the eBay invoice billing cycle so you should have the cash for your monthly payment to eBay. In the meantime just put the book off to the side and wait for the check to clear. I've never had one bounce.
  16. This is why I use a separate buying account. I'm afraid a mad seller will seek out retribution if I file a claim and win.
  17. I bag them because some collectors have issues with scuffed slabs which could hurt resale if I ever wanted to sell. I just use whatever slab bags. I have cracked and chipped slabs where the comic is just fine. One day I'll get them reholdered but I'm not losing sleep. It is the 9.8 slab with an insect entombed inside that gives me the willies.
  18. "Shaken Comic Syndrome"? From CGC, I'm not concerned about it. If this happens to you, it is most likely because you bought a slab from a private sale and the packaging was poor. Then you have to ask yourself, is it damaged? If so, return it and get a refund. If it is not damaged, are you more concerned with the presentation within the slab or the protection of the slab and what is on the label.
  19. I would rebag them. I've bought multiple lots of these things still in the bag. The board used for shipping is junk and the plastic is not archival. I would suggest putting them into a fresh bag with new board when it is convenient for you. It adds no resale value, in fact it detracts from the value because now customers can't see the defects (or lack of defects) because it is still in plastic with a board covering one side. These are also known to pick up creases when they were shipped to you so if I wanted the copy, I would assume it is 9.0-9.2 and offer a price based on that when you may actually have a 9.4 or better.
  20. CGC has released a statement that they are no longer grading these companion booklets that came with the DVDs.
  21. My comic shop has unsigned/unbagged copies in VF listed at less than $2. There is one on eBay signed by Pichelli for $40ish. Comic ($2) + Unwitnessed Stan Lee sig ($55?) + Shipping ($5) = your estimated value of <$100 And then I find one double signed with Stan that sold for $31 CAD https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultimate-Spider-Man-1-Rare-Variant-SIGNED-BY-STAN-LEE-KAARE-ANDREWS/112674952778?hash=item1a3bf3564a:g:kpAAAOSwP4FaJzyU Here's one where Stan signed the bag ($46 CAD) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultimate-Spider-Man-1-Variant-Polybagged-SIGNED-BY-STAN-LEE/112637891467?hash=item1a39bdd38b:g:BukAAOSws6ZaB0yW If I was listing it on eBay and wanted to be aggressive, I would list it at $49.99 with free shipping. As long as it is an unwitnessed sig, I don't think you are going to get anyone to pay a premium for a 1/100 sig or a 77/100 sig. There are too many Stan sigs out there for that to matter.
  22. I only send books in premium storage like top loaders when I'm submitting at a convention signing or something like that where third party newbs are hired and throw your comics in milk crates for collection before submitting to CGC. If you are submitting yourself, just package them well. This forum and the CGC website have good examples.
  23. I started off slabbing to sell but for me, my raw books move much faster and now I slab for my personal collection. Every now and then, I'll try the CPR game or do the math for raw+press+slab=PROFIT, except I tend to come out even or the % profit isn't worth it. I often slab to chase 9.8s because people on these boards corrupted me.
