  1. You're right. How many local comic shops can order 100 copies of one specific comic and sell through them all just to get the 1:100 variant? Most variants can be had in the discount bins in a year or so and that's a double whammy. The shop will have to take on a lot of risk to get a (maybe) hot variant. They also have to compete with online vendors. Have you ever bought a variant at an LCS for $20 and later that week find it on eBay for $10? What's your incentive for going back to that LCS or paying their mark up for the variant?
  2. You are correct. The 1:2000 variants are priced ridiculous because: 1) People pay the price 2) Many dealers will have to move the other 2000 copies at cover price or below so they will need to make up for the lost profit on those
  3. Good experience buying from them on eBay. I got this one with the last promo code posted on this forum. I'm happy with the purchase and the price was pretty good even without the discount
  4. I'll take the box of pampers for $20 shipped! I also noticed that he made sure to get his feet in most of the shots. It is always best not to crop those out.
  5. I'm finally done with my PO Box. It was like Sanford & Son in there. Some packages were marked delivered before I got them, others were not. They lost packages they were holding for my PO Box several times a year only to find them once I started a claim. I finally went with a local UPS mailbox. The local franchise is 1 mile from my house, is open earlier and closes later than USPS. Also, if I am picking up a package, I can park, get my packages, and come back to the car before the radio plays a new song. Usually I wait at the Post Office 10-45 minutes to pick up packages from my PO Box. I was afraid to get a UPS mailbox because of cost but the local franchise only charges 30% more than a PO Box. I also get an e-mail when packages arrive. No waiting behind someone getting a passport either when there are only 2 tellers and no air conditioning.
  6. Too bad CAK isn't still around to pump and dump all of his Preacher books. This thread would have really set him off.
  7. Started following you. (Sorry, no likes )
  8. Do you think this book is trimmed? It looks a little off.
  9. Shenanigans? Maybe, maybe not. I won two moderns last night within $5 each of my original bids. Yesterday, I checked on the status of my highest bids with 5 minutes left. When I noticed that current bidding was within $5 of my high, I quickly raised my high bids another $40 each just to make sure. It turned out that there was no more bidding activity and I ended up winning both with my original high bids. Conclusion: in this case my bids were within $5 of perceived market value; if there were shenanigans, CL missed an opportunity to milk another $80 out of me across two bids.
  10. How about some love for moderns? I got these two last night. Of the ASM Civil War issues, typically I can only find ASM 529, 533, or 538 in 9.8 at any given time. The rest are hard to come by.
  11. I have a comics-only Instagram account and only post comics. There are plenty on there who are collectors and like mainstream to obscure comics. I did link my eBay seller account to my Instagram profile which could lead someone to my address, so I just don't post my expensive comics and it looks like I only collect moderns.
  12. Nice. I want to get my Amazing Spider-Man McFarlane run signed like this.
  13. Just worked for me. Does not appear to have a minimum.
  14. From the pictures, you can tell they are using premium 3/4" hardwood plywood for the drawers. You'll never find that at Ikea. Heck, try to find any furniture that isn't made of particle board nowadays.
  15. Seven years? I guess, I have a while before I finish then too. Seriously, I try to bag & board one pack at a time. You'll tend to see that a bundle of 100 bags does not match up exactly with a bundle of 100 boards. I'm pretty sure they "count" these by weight and you may end up with some extra bags or boards. Also when I pre-bag/board or buy bags with the board already inside, I find they tend to curl instead of laying flat. This is another reason I prefer half-backs/full-backs and Mylar for my personal collection over cheap-o bags and boards: they lay flat. But hey, the books I sell, many customers are happy it just comes bagged and boarded.
  16. Nice picture. This looks more like the Fantasy genre. Most here know more about superhero and sci-fi. Are there any markings on the inside of the print that could help us?
  17. Put them all in Mylar before you have a baby. This is the easiest way.
  18. Rereading this statement several hours later, I realize this comment does not reflect positively on me. I got carried away answering a hypothetical question. To clarify: I have not knowingly falsified customs forms when shipping merchandise internationally. I do not use GSP and work with the customer so he/she has a positive experience.
  19. I'll do whatever the customer asks. I'm not subject to Canadian law so how can I break it? Besides, doesn't the Canadian customer have to pay up if there is an error? I understand I may have my right to commerce cancelled for violations but I doubt they care about >$300 comics. If they issue me a warning letter, I might change my mind. Watch out for this rebel without a cause! Put me on the probation list! Also I have been known to eat bacon which is illegal in many countries.
  20. GoCollect tracks eBay pricing. You'll have to look in a few places. Ultimately, if you want it, and it is up for auction place a bid at what you think is 150-200% of what you think is market price. The final bid will be the new value of the book.
  21. You could consider subscribing to GPA or GoCollect and also check out the final hammer prices Comic Link auctions. Those are some services which could give you an idea on pricing. Regarding your previous questions about page quality, it seems that White pages will go for about 10-15% higher than OW/W. That seems like a ball park figure for bronze age Spideys like you are looking at.
  22. You're right. I bought my bronze key last auction and the check just cleared. Going after some run filler this time! I see two modern 9.8s that never come up for auction on eBay.
  23. It worked!! I finally got to use the coupon!! It seems like forever since I was able to. Snagged this one:
  24. Good question. Perhaps it would get the Conserved grade. I am interested in knowing as well but have a feeling we already know the answer.
