  1. Nice! I wish my LCC had stuff like that! Wow! Was your friendly neighborhood LCS friendly enough to sell this book at cover price?
  2. Great cover! So what's on page 31??? Will never no 'cause I shipped it to GCG Hmm. Interesting. But no page 31... One question: as a novice to sending books to CGC, I'm wondering what was your reason for shipping it to CGC? Obviously to get it graded, but -- is the objective to keep it safe in a slab, or to sell it one of these days soon? Or something else? That was a typo and attempt at humor. Should have said "I will never know because I shipped it to GCG" Actually I owned another copy that I read, liked it enough to upgrade. Plus book is available via comic book readers such as copy here. Reason for slabbing - I guess I personally like to put my favorites that are maybe a little higher grade or more valuable in slabs. Makes me feel secure handling them, and they are more liquid I presume if I decided to sell. My books go from mylar to 4 mil mylar, to 4 mil mylar inside those bcw holders to slabbed - I guess just depending on how I feel about it? Hi path4play. Thanks for your insights. That makes some sense. My default for unslabbed is double mylar (4 mil inside 1 mil). Gives the books a nice sparkle. And limits the bug chews.
  3. Thanks Electron!! That's an amazing double splash! The artwork has some signs of Jack Cole, though comics.org says Phil Bard. Never heard of that guy. BTW your signature line is inspirational.

  5. Yes, I agree about the mask guy. But I find it hard to tell from the lady's expression what exactly she is thinking. It's not fear. Almost curiosity, almost like, "Seriously dude? That mask's supposed to scare me?"
  6. One of the great GA bondage covers!! Wow! I've never seen that book. That's a precious gem indeed!
  7. Would be interesting to know how Batman spent his Christmas holidays in the pre-Robin era? Somehow I don't see him hanging out with Santa by himself... Curiously, there was never a Christmas cover in Detective Comics as far as I can tell. Between 1945-1948 there was a Christmas (or at least winter-themed) cover each year in the Batman series, but then never again. Interesting point that hadn't occurred to me before. There were some Christmas covers in other DC books from that era. Here are a couple. Cool Bat #27. One of my favorite Bat covers. Here's a few more festive DC's I have more but I will let someone else have some fun... Kind of fascinating. All of those different DC titles had Christmas covers, limited to the years 1945-1948, with the exception of Comic Cavalcade, which had a Christmas cover every year beginning in 1943, and continuing even after the switch to funny animals, through Dec 49/Jan 50. Wonder if a DC editorial policy stated, "No More Christmas Covers!"

  9. Saw the Church copies of 7 and 8. They were just incredible. Especially the 7. Amazing colors. Here's my 8. Tough issue. Would love to upgrade someday. When you upgrade, please keep me in mind!
  10. HOLY sheiit Holy Human Collectors Item, Batman!$%&*#@!
  11. Great looking copies of some extremely cool comics I second that comment. Thrilling 23: close shave! Another few inches and The American Crusader loses his family jewels.
  12. Cool ad, Robot Man. Did this appear in a comic book or in another type of magazine? That Bob guy is a jerk! And I'm sure his date is *really* pleased that the big game is on.
  13. Apparently the cost also depends on how much the book was valued at, at the time of original submission!?! Moments like this make me think that there are some very good arguments for the CBCS model of certification. Much more transparency in the grading process.
  14. Got to like the girls in red Well... technically, she's hardly wearing any red!
  15. That one was up for auction a few months ago, wasn't it? Just out of curiosity, why is it a 4.5? Looks absolutely amazing for the grade. Great pickup. Thanks comicjack and october. I'm super-pleased. The colors look even better in hand. Yes, this book was up for bidding at the last CL featured auction. There was a 5.0 at the HA signature auction a few weeks prior, but I felt the 4.5 showed brighter colors, so double-downed for it. Not sure why it sits at 4.5. There might be a bit of a spine split, though it's hard to tell through this version of the plastic slab. Maybe I'll buy the grading notes, or just crack it out...
  16. Thanks everyone for your enthusiastic comments! As a relative newcomer to the GA forum, I can say that it has been great interacting with, and learning from, all you experts in the fine field of GA comicology.
  17. (double posting out of sheer excitement) Daily math problem: 6 ghouls :insane::insane::insane: + 1 flame = 7 (Wonderworld) (Damsel in distress not included in this equation )
  18. This finally arrived. It is my cigar of the month (year? decade?). The colors look even better in hand. The design of the plastic slab is kind of nice. The left and right edges stick out ~1/4 inch, making it look like the comic is set back within a picture frame. Though I'm so tempted to crack it open and follow Mr. Fine's story about how The Flame handles those malevolent ghouls!
  19. So is the take-home message that the market for AS8 is still on the rise, steadying out, or slowing down? Or just volatile?
