  6. OK, Ladies and Gents. Introducing Hercules in "The Burns Koffin Gang", a 7-page story from yours truly, Zolnerowich. This appeared as the first story in Hit Comics #3 (Sept. 1940). The water scenes on pages 4-5 are really awesome. (Apologies for the variable photo quality.)
  7. I agree with the Sqeggs party. Without nested quotes, responses can get completely detached from the original quote, and end up sounding like non-sequiters. And in Gold, there are often extended conversations, among 5+ boardies, about a topic or creator or other issue that benefit from seeing and keeping all the responses together.
  8. Huh. Why more of a border on the bottom of the frame? I would've thought it should be the same all around...
  9. How was the Big Apple Con last year? Is it worth the trip? Did it still have a Wizard-y feel, or has Carbo returned it to its comic book roots?
  10. I love it! Are the cover and matching page (in color) also originals, or reproductions?
  11. I'm partial to #4. Early early Joker story: 4th comic book appearance ever (though 5th appearance overall, having appeared in 2 stories in #1); he was still at his most ruthless back in 1941 (not to mention Bats himself!)... And you get Finger, Robinson, Kane, Roussos, and the legendary rocker Lou Reed (aka Bob Kane, too embarrassed to put his real name to the 2-pg Ginger Snap story).
  12. This is the third Red Seal I've seen on the boards. I think I'm falling for them... Great stuff, ComicJack!! And if this is only a test, I can't wait for the real thing!
  13. Thanks Bronty. Yes, for colors and composition, I love 14, with that lion creature straight out of Oz. Great profile photo/icon, by the way. (I'm a novice with the pin-ups; Elvgren I presume? The original art I presume?)
  14. Stupendous! Z is firing on all cylinders!
  15. Voldemort is just misunderstood. Like a tragic anti-hero.
  16. Kelly, let me congratulate you on starting this long overdue thread! Come to think of it, I should have thought of it myself!! Sincerely yours, Zolnerowich
  17. Hi Kelly. That is absolutely breathtaking! My version is pedestrian in color scheme compared to yours.
  18. Smokin' !! Is it just me, or does that caption in the bottom left corner got one of those meanings?
  19. Great book! So much mayhem going on. The goblin with the explosives detonator. The goblin with the knife in the man's back. The lady in a coma (or is she just having a nap?). And of course the word "skein"! Only in the Golden Age.
  20. That's pretty awesome! Would have scared the bejezus out of me as a kid! What a superb Jack Cole classic, pre-Eel O'Brien! Just don't come across this one all that often! Here is its older sibling, hitting the stands 4 months earlier. A bit disheveled but attractive colors nonetheless. Love the 6 as well!! Classic! Still need to get me one of those...they make quite a pair! AWESOME!! Very Cool, Mr. Erb! We're on a roll... do I see a 5? Or a 9? A straight flush?

  22. Nice haul! Seems as if it was worth the trip. Some GGA classics there. A few of my own favorites. Tremendous, Junkdrawer! All from the same vendor, or did you spread the love?
  23. Lets get board names so we can put face to name I second Woowoo's suggestion. Would be great to attach names to those smiling faces! (Looks like someone was nursing his margarita ? ) No I think it was my 5th one. . Ha!! Cheers to that! ? ? ? ? ? So I guess Oakman's on the far left...
