  1. I have been on the other end.  I once bought a small group of comics (about 5), including a mid grade ASM 135.  A week later, it showed as delivered.  It was never delivered.  I wondered what to do because it wasn't the sellers fault.  The post office was NO help, as they show it as delivered so no harm no foul.      In the end I just let it go because I knew I wouldn't win.

Am I crazy in thinking that bronze Batman and Detective should be able to sell at .75 to 1.00?

Most bronze Batmans will easily sell for $1 if in nicer shape but when you factor in shipping it becomes a harder sell.  Beaters you will have a harder time at the $1 each level.

Most of mine are fine to VF, and not moving.  Barely a bite.  Time will tell.

So someone just jams their offering into a thread?

often someone will post a sales thread and then list individual comics in the comments section

Or you get pm's.  I just started selling on FB a few weeks ago.  Not much luck yet.  I try to give good descriptions and reasonable prices, but so many others throw up a book and say give me offers.  I don't get it.

Slabbed coins that have had the CAC sticker have been bringing considerably higher prices at auction for the last 10 years in the same grades (for example MS 65).  Conceptually, the "Green" sticker says whether the coin in the slab falls within the range for that grade.  That's basically it.  The "Gold" sticker says that the coin is probably undergraded and would benefit from a resubmission

Yes, but there is also another sticker service called "Sight White" which confirms an unblemishished and super clean coin.  Because you need someone else to tell you what your eyes can see.  Same type of thing as with these multiple comic slab stickers.  At least with comics, there may be issues that can't be seen between the covers.  Coins have two visible sides.

Bought a World's Finest #3 (1st Scarecrow) cover-less, which is ideal because i've always hated that original cover and thus could not justify spending so much to get the first appearance of one of my favorite bat-villains.

But since i'm pretty much awesome at making reproduction covers at this point it wasn't a problem. I commissioned new art and have remade the ideal cover for that issue. I have replicated the Golden Age heavy cardboard stock originally used (so yes, if you bend it too much like the original it will start causing coloring breaks - you can see it in action on the spine already), as well as the original coloring methods used (full separations made, only approved colors used by DC's printers at the time etc)

Note: This is only an early digital print preview I had to confirm sizing (not final coloring), and I am having the final offset print done this week (as it was printed back in the GA, you'll get all the Ben-Day dots patterns exactly).

You gave all three the patented "Robin shock pose/expression!"  Even Supes!  Nice cover.

Uncanny X-Men are unsellable on eBay!

Yup, I have had a bunch {mostly the Byrne era, mid grade} up over the last couple months, from a collection I bought, and except for a 94 in vg, and a couple others, they have gone slow.  Still have several up there and getting no action.

  7. Cool topic.  I have been drawn into a comic already (as 2 characters using my likeness) in a Jonah Hex book by Mark Sparacio.  And also had a commission done as I would like to be a superhero.  The artist was a relative  unknown and I wasn't totally satisfied as some of the lines of the background were freehanded and it showed.  The idea worked well though and the likeness was done pretty well.  Frow the rear looking into a mirror - Spidey is removing his mask to reveal his identity is...me.

A couple pages from the book.  Here, I am the bartender and the rogue in the bottom panel to the far left.

As for who I would want to draw me, regarding a well-known name... Probably John Romita Sr.

This wasn't a comic but I thought the situation was interesting and hadn't seen this particular "method" used before on eBay.  Here are the facts so far:

I purchased an inexpensive (under $15) phone case on eBay on November 16th......it came with free shipping and said the item location was in California.

Seller only had 10 feedbacks.  All were positive, but only 2 were from selling (not great but everyone has to start somewhere).

On his feedback page, I saw that he joined eBay in August but only noticed his location was listed as Israel after I made the purchase (first red flag since the item page said the item was located in California).

On November 19th the seller sent me an email......he thanked me and let me know that he shipped my package (his item page did say it might take up to 5 days to ship)......my eBay page also updated with a USPS tracking number.

Today (two days later on November 21st).......there was still nothing showing for the USPS tracking number, other than the label had been created but that the item was not in the USPS system yet (second red flag)

I emailed the seller earlier today to ask if the item was actually shipped yet and WHERE it was shipping from.

I then checked the sellers feedback again and saw that one feedback had just been added to it......a Neutral feedback stating "Really fast shipping! But I didn’t receive the case I ordered". (third red flag)

No reply from the seller yet, but I did see that the USPS tracking had finally been updated with the following

    Processed Through Facility
    GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA
Your item has been processed through a facility in GUANGZHOU EMS, CHINA
(I'm losing count....but I believe that's the fourth red flag)

Ok, so at this point, I'm not looking for the item to arrive in a timely manner.  If it's the correct item when it does arrive, I have to decide if I'll leave a positive or neutral feedback (I don't like being lied to).  If it's the wrong item, I don't care if it's a $5 item or a $5,000 item, the boot licker is getting an instant negative feedback for lying to me, for wasting my time, and to warn others about this scammer.

    To be continued.....

I am going through a similar issue now as well, and with a phone case also.  I bought it from the seller because he showed a NY address and I figured a few days to get to Mass.  Well, 10 days later...it is supposed to show up on Friday.  I will see when and where the ship date/locale is before leaving other than positive feedback.

I don't disagree, unfortunately that isn't always the first option for some.  I found a few more marvel labels with trimmed and other defects.  Simply stated, it was a poorly executed idea.  Cool label graphics but poor execution.  I just bought an ASM 6 with a Spidey label, that  notes tape on cover.  I clearly saw the tape, but now I wonder if the book may have gotten a green label, as I bought it prior to knowing about this snafu.

I've seen plenty of blue labels with that notation of "tape", maybe not quite that high of grade, but I don't think it belongs in a green label.

CGC changed their designation on tape, now to only grade it as if it wasn't there and give it a blue label...

    Hope that helps!

It does.  I will still probably be looking to upgrade, if for nothing else, a better presenting copy within the year.

I would ask, though, who would want to return a blue universal for a purple or green?  No matter to keep or sell.

    Honesty?
