  1. Not to single this out, because your entire post was quite good, but that's custom title material if I ever saw it
  2. Karl has a Porsche though. Just sayin'
  3. And a few years before that, they were quarter boxes They're 3 for $1, so technically, this one's a 33.3 cent box
  4. You pretty much implied that a book whose grade you don't understand must be fake. That's a fairly serious aspersion to cast. You didn't simply ask "Do you guys think this book should be a 9.6?" like you're claiming.
  5. 9.6's can have date stamps. Again, there are threads about that topic right here on these very boards.
  6. Yes, there have been cases where sellers switch out labels. I believe the most recent thread is here: However, I highly doubt the seller you're referring to has done this. As far as I know, he is legitimate, an overstreet advisor etc. I believe he brought one of the Action Comics #1 CGC 9.0's to market and his name is Darren Adams. Just type Pristinecomics into the board search function and there's plenty to read. Or you can contact him and ask: http://pristinecomics.com/contact-us-1/2 What about it?
  7. Sometimes even the most expert diagnosis requires a second opinion
  8. Maybe @newshane has some info on this? I seem to recall him as very knowledgable regarding all things Spawn.
  9. That's a really nice copy Karl. I'd be quite happy with an 8.0 White pager. You'd also do well to take the advice of the members here trying to help you out (Bomber-Bob, seanfingh, Artboy99 etc). They're seasoned collectors who are very familiar with CGC's grading standards. I've learned a ton from their posts here on the boards and from other members like them. Regarding your statement that there are no creases on the cover, I can see at least 4 that break color just in the area of the spine between the bottom of the top staple and the Human Torch's hand. Creases aren't just "folds" in the paper, they are also the ticks on the spine (what you call rack rash?). I think this might be an instance where your terminology differs from that used and accepted in the hobby, by CGC etc. This is where listening to seasoned members can be an educating experience.
  10. I believe you have the option to either receive a Qualified (green label) grade that does not deduct for the signature, or opt for a Universal (blue) label with a deduction for the signature. Either way, I believe the notation "name written on cover" will appear on the label. As far as the actual drop in grade, others would be more knowledgable, but as far as I am aware, it would depend on the condition of the book. If it were extremely high grade, I think the deduction would be more than it would be at lower grades. At a low enough grade, I don't think it would drop the grade at all. I hope that helps a bit, and I'm sure others more knowledgable will chime in.
  11. the number you’re looking for is 40 years
  12. Right, but you were referring to the slabbed 10.0, hence your comment about what it says on the label. Regardless, it's still 35 grams of gold, with a current market price of about $1,235.60. Even at 5k, that's 400% over spot price. If people are willing to pay that markup, or think they're cool, that's perfectly fine, but don't be surprised that others think it's ridiculous.
