  1. I bought a CGC Hulk 181 on the board that has Trimpe signature on case (just a 5.0). I liked the idea too. Not sliver age.
  2. Agreed, and that was created by Miller in/around 2001 (publication year). But as you say he had a much softer, less idealized touch, w fewer lines, and more grace in his earlier work on her/DD. But nothing's ever static. [from the tpb, since my only handy copy of the original is encased in some kinda dumb plastic tomb.]
  3. I always thought the "visionaries" trade pb for Miller's DD should have started at Vol 1 - #168 - 182, which was Vol. 2 - even though his art was featured on the first 10 issues he didn't really hit his stride on the title until he took over storytelling too. And if you're bored, you could always check out solarboy's sales thread. ; )
  4. Check the census for what proportion of the graded copies have sigs to see if you think the world needs another one. I don't collect sigs or variants in particular, but as I recall there is a small but passionate group of members here very fond of discussing every aspect of this particular comic, so if you find their gush/bash thread (in Copper/Modern probably) maybe they can help with useful insights.
  5. Since you're here, doesn't the right edge cut of your Batman 227 ending Sunday seem kind of funky to you? Was that typical for this issue? I agree that grading is very subjective, but e.g. the Marvel Premiere with that back cover tanning and impact top edge called a 9.6 means it is fair to mention that while you're honest with your back scans and generous return policy, that grading 'nuts' can feel less than confident with some of your raw listings.
  6. I'm a tad more generous than above guessers, 4.5, it's so nice aside from that bottom corner.
  7. Ahem. Your google-fu is weak, old man.
  8. He says in thread title "COMIC COVER." Maybe his game is to keep selling it until someone doesn't return it?
  9. I'm at 4.0, don't know if it can pull the 4.5 with that bottom rt corner. Maybe it's bumped up + 0.5 because of its era?
  10. Wish I collected war books or wasn't down-sizing, these are some pretty cool covers.
  11. Those color breaking creases probably mean a hard cap (will never get higher than) of 4.0; so I agree with @szavisca. Pressing out the back cover will almost certainly help the grade. I would guess a 3.5 as it sits. It's clean, nice spine, no chunks missing.
  12. Yeah, it's a great book, very fresh looking, but that pair of very small stains near the bottom staple could be hammered (an expression I picked up here) by CGC, possibly jamming you into the high 6 territory. I've notice a lot of defects when looking at my scans after I graded a comic, and my eyes missed stuff that the scan reveals or even exaggerates - particularly with whites (like back covers).
  13. I'm still a noob only, not even here 18 mos., so won't give an opinion. But sometimes the lightest touch is best when it comes to rule making, so perhaps it makes sense to just stay silent, allow it when it happens and let the occasional boardie who does the cross-selling on FB keep his thread alive, and kick the can on expressly permitting it which might just put the idea in more people's heads.
  14. I'm interested in the answers you'll get. Best I can guess is automatic 4.5, but really don't have a clue. If selling I'd chick out and describe as a 7.5 (or whatever you determine) with a 2 inch tear at top rt.
  15. Yeah, I tend to find anthony's overgrade 1 to 2 grades, pretty good by ebay standards, and they have a few different people listing (although I think they use grades already marked on bags). I once got a deal on an ASM 10 VG+, but they sent me the wrong one (a clearly different copy that was also listed at the same time, in VG-). They handled it great (except they wouldn't send me the nicer copy for the price I paid), promptly returned my money after I sent the comic back in same packaging. Given my buy-value habits, I'm pretty sure the comic I bought was mis-priced as a VG- and that's why they couldn't find the VG+ anywhere in stock.
