  1. No idea on value, sorry. Probably could sell on ebay for 10 to 20 depending on condition. For reference, the vintage Marvel calendars of 1975 to 1981 often sell for $10 in average used condition, 20 in very nice shape, although some are more popular. E.g. the Doc Strange 1980 calendar was selling at movie-inspired $40-50 in December, and the Spiderman 1978 calendar often garners double the price of most of the others. This is cool for an era shot of what Marvel was emphasizing at the time (or what was selling), the horror titles were a growing part of marvel's lineup, and some sword & sorcery even made the cut, although Killraven and Dealthok seem to be absent, and Doom the only villain prominent enough when they made that poster (had his own title a while) and Inhumans are conspicuously absent. Imagine it today, with Avengers crowding out the FF who might not even appear on a 2016 poster (heh). Like a primitive, early example of a 'word' cloud. Except Frankenstein was way too big for a guy who could only last 18 issues and a few cameos over the decade, and Savage was probably also mis-sized.
  2. Dayum ! That's pretty prolific, congrats.
  3. Agreed, I was thinking around a strong 7.0.
  4. Does the name Madoff trigger any thought of considering a reset to your trust system? You might have missed aerischan just a few posts further upthread refer to him as "Bernie," eh? ; )
  5. Sorry, you're right, I conflated them in my mind, but they're two different courses of action. That's the whole point, I got it.
  6. You got it. Skimpy protection is still better than no protection. Good luck, I think you're on right track with the new non-pay-cancel-request case you opened.
  7. Understood, my only point was that return would also vary depending on how the "equity" part is allocated among the US stock indices. I.e tech heavy or financials heavy, even using index funds, can affect returns. [i'd guess the US stock was S&P, probably.]
  8. ^Nice post. Never mind whether and what the allocation (If any) among the dow, s&p500, nasdaq (w/ or w/o financials) and the Russell for the equity part would do to returns.
  9. Yeah, you got some great responses so far. Lot of good info in there. My two cents to add, which I think you already know. The big difference in the 'deal comics' route is two-fold: at the end of the time she will have greater experience after having helped run a small business and her mind will be developed a certain way. And there's a lot of work implied in dealing comics, and she'll have done a lot of that work. Supposedly, doing work helps one grow. And even if she hates you tiny bit more over the short term, over the long haul, if she develops a certain way, she'll appreciate the useful experience and lessons you forced her into learning. (Of course, the mercenary sensibilities so useful to being a successful dealer could have the reverse effect, and help make her into a hippie.)
  10. You ever see the Simpsons where Homer goes to a yard sale and there's an Action #1, AF15, that upside down airmail stamp, and some gold coins and he says, "Oh there's nothing good here! Didn't that scene also include a "Strata-who-vius" violin? And dang if that isn't the most famous postage stamp.
  11. I still find you among the most credible posters I've read on the boards. And ghost, what an awesome book.
  12. : ) Aa-haa. My thanks. Friggin jerks. Most likely scenario petty someone had their own thread moved, second guess, just a self-righteous person with too much time on hands.
  13. Hi C4F, I'm puzzled how you could tell it was button humped long before the thread was moved. For over an hour in the Sales Only forum, I saw your reply that said someone reported it, and a few other replies, including the guy that said he bought something. A while later I saw it moved over to the ebay forum - just curious how you can tell, not a troll. I agree it was lame, I've never reported anything being still a noob, and never so much as commented in a thread when I've noticed subtle or gross violations.
  14. I think that's the exact kind of defect these guys are discussing in this thread. I'm no expert, and weak at moderns because I have little experience with them. But those tiny tears seem a common part of some production processes, or with some papers, or etc. (the etc. is all the stuff I have no idea about). The fact that they are common (a lot of the copies have it) or universal (all copies have it) can have a big difference than if most copies of the same issue DON'T have the defect. I.e. maybe a 9.8 is possible even with the tears if it's universal (all the copies made). And, btw, Welcome !
  15. You should post clear pics of the books to increase the chance that someone with experience or knowledge about that defect/wear will reply to you. Good bump. : )
  16. Thanks Bio Rupp. Safe and very fast shipping. Bought a batch of Defenders 1 to 10 plus annual from Bio Rupp and they were all just as he described them. Also got a nice ASM and a Swamp Thing, both as graded/described. Thank you !
  17. I'm out on this one, the small crease top rt, flecking bottom and light general wear had me at high fines even with the awesomeness bump.
  18. I was thinking 8.0, maybe 7.5, same as CQ, and a little more generous than prior grader ^.
  19. His threads only listed ship cost, with no return policy and no payment method included. I noticed the same omissions in last couple ft88 threads (the previous thread had dozen of CGC books) and the last one survived no problem, but in the CM thread someone reminded OP he missed a couple of rules - but I guess he didn't see it in time to fix.
  20. Possibly because some are 'pressable' so current "FMV" might have upside built in. Glassman10, welcome, glad you're here at the moment with your story and hope you stick around or at least give updates from time to time or to seek follow up input.
  21. Also if you have issues with my posts why don't you just send me a PM like a reasonable adult instead of running into your bash thread. I get some of you all don't have better things to do but hey just a thought. Not gonna keep feed into the drama though. I don't have the time. Have a great weekend boys. Oh and maybe girls? It is not that we are trying to troll you, we are simply pointing out potential issues. Posting a $1 book thread is a lot of work. You cannot just have someone else grade them, post a PDF of it, and then expect to have people cherry pick them and hand you money. You have to put in the work. Go look at my thread or go look at 1Cool's 4000+ thread, we took the time to list out the comics and take pictures, and even then they will move slowly. And it is not about free time. I can't speak for 1Cool, but my thread was work. I had to plan out the time for it. My free time was still spent watching a movie or going out to dinner with friends, but when I had to do the comics, it was work. If you don't have that time, then I would recommend waiting until you do. Take some pictures, most people on here seem to be visually aware of books, just the title and number alone will not convince them to buy. All they see is a wall of text. Best of luck in your thread. It's a great thread, even though I don't collect moderns or much copper I've been through most pages of your threads. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into so many of these low $ threads (RFO and even Crassus come to mind among many others) and mostly drop in to admire and see more of the great cover art a lot of which I still don't know.
  22. Wow, he looks just like the actor they got to portray him in the movie Pixels. (Except for the height I mean.) I had no idea the character was styled after the actual Donkey Kong master, which, strangely, seems to be the case. Does that mean he cheated too, geez?
  23. Got myself this very solid copy of SA 110 that was nicer (I think) than described, and anyway, nicer than I expected. Great, Frank, thank you!
  24. Good to see the class of 2016 representin' Thank you, thank you. : ) I'm still a noob, haven't even made it to one year here, and didn't even know about your version of march madness until I saw your thread. *Two* annual contests here, I'm blown away. Glad Andy and Shin participate in this one !
  25. Mostly I'm lurking through this thread, but, superb actors? Isn't someone forgetting the frequent presence of OTT villains (some of whom I'm sure I remember twirling their mustaches on camera)? And that guy chewing scenery in those episodes? ; )
